Mugabe doesn't care about the cricket, they have been on a downward spiral for years now and sanctions against them will do no good. Political sanctions/Military Action is what is needed, the current situation is worse than Iraq and someone needs to get in there and sort that ****er Muagbe out.

Shouldn't be playing against them anyway - no one will do anything about it because the regime is a black one. And of course something was done about South Africa.

bloody hell spelly that is awfully political of you !!!

i just wish that mugabe would hurry up and die so the cricket team can get back together (oh and to stop the terrible things that are happening over there as well !). the talented cricketers who have wasted away from Zimbabwe is terrible - i realise people call them minnow but had all the players played together I think they would have caused a few headaches

Mugabe used to be the patron of the game there, and has declared cricket one of the few "civlising influences" to have come from colonial days. He's not necessarily a Howard like cricket tragic, but he does like the game and his government basically control it.
Political sanctions, not trade, already exist from some countries - but not South Africa where leadership needs to come from. Sporting sanctions don't do much, but they are at least something.
Much better than playing there and giving Mugabe another stage on which to pretend he is a legitimate leader.

I don't think he'd be too bothered if there were sanctions against the team. i have heard one way to sort him out today "Wait until he dies" :D

Sporting sanctions against Apartheid SA had a big impact in terms of expediting the process of dismantling it.

Recent years have proved that Thabo Mbeki is not the man to show leadership on this issue.

So we like to believe. I wonder of they really did though, or if its a myth put about by cricket and rugby authorities to enhance the perceived power and reputation of their sports.
