Netball aint so bad. At least the umpires know how to take control in Netball. In my experience it's a much more violent game than football too! :D

Yes, netball can be violent! My sister was set off the court during one of her netball matches a few years ago - it was so funny because it confused everyone because no one knew the rule (or even if there was one ), like do the team just play one short, or are they allowed to bring someone on in her place?

They play one short. I know because I've seen my friends get sent off the court a number of times. Most of the time because someone on the opposition team has been unnecessarily violent, my friends have complained, nothing has been done, and they've then taken complaining too far. It's actually kind of amusing to watch :D

That's right you play one short and you can't swap somone into their position either (unless it's centre) so if you lose a Goalie or a defender your pretty much screwed cos it's two on one.

I haven't been sent off...... yet :p i've come close though!.... I've lost count of the number of time i've been 'Warned'

it's Violent cos the sport is bitchy and girls.... well let's just say we take it personally..... you can't sledge cos.... well .....you'll be lucky to survive the QRT without being taken out by a player.

Too many are missing the point that strong tackling and pressure on the opposition ball carrier is the key to the most essential scoring aspect of modern football.....turn overs.
I disagree with the comments that are players are too small, yes Gary Ablett is a big boy these days but a good tackler will still tie him up. Some of the aboriginal players are fantastic at wrapping the ball carrier up in a tackle that doesn't allow disposal.
Last week against Geelong our players were able to grab the geelong players but fundamentally they still got a disposal away, a good tackle prevents that as it pins one arm. KEY

Here's an idea...number the forwards in all sides from 1 to 6, backs 7 to 12 (we might copy rugby and allocate a number to correspond to each position on the ground) Draw a line across the ground at the mid-point and ban forwards from straying into their own backlines and backs from going forwards.
A free kick in the goal square to the opposition if players are caught out.
I stand by for an avalanche of protests at an idea to so radically change the game. :D

Sounds like Under 8s' and 9s!

After watching the Geelong gamne one aspect that stood out was our inability to stick tackles and more importantly to lay tackles that pin the arms of opposition players.
In addition, some of the other NAB games have highlighted the value of tackling. It seems the club doesn't focus too heavily on this aspect (I could be wrong) and I think this is a serious issue.
Tackling can be essential, improtantly our forward line delivers very little tackling pressure on opposition defenses. People will say that our young guys are pretty small and skinny but tackling is an art, some real small guys in the AFL and SANFL are masters of tackling.
Why doesn't the club get in a specialist tackling coach from Rugby or US football? With the right training and execution even a guy like Mackay could be a serious tackling force. In the Geelong game we laid tackles but time and again the Geelong players either slipped them or were able to get a disposal away.

A coach from us football or rugby wouldn't do to much good, in rugby the correct technique tackle is really only suited to rugby or games similar where the opponents tend to be running straight up and down at each other, whereas in Aussy rules the tackles are normally from the side or while be chased from behind. US football the tackles are more like collisions, and normally the biggest and strongest guy comes out tops, which isn't what we want either, because in our sport we don't get too many front on collisions.
