Hey guys . Just wondering if someone can help me . In my FM2009 game , i applied for the position of Ghana Manager after their manager was sacked . I got the position and reviewed my staff and my assistant manager didnt really have good stats etc , so i sacked him . Can anyone tell me whats the best way to get an assistant manager ? I have tryed to hire quite a few to come on board as assistant manager but they all keep declining ? Even ones who are unemployed .

Thanks .

I did try Ghanian nationals , and only 1 person comes up . Marcel Desailly , although French , he has a Ghanian background and i have already hired him as coach . After hiring him as coach , and i couldnt get another assistant manager , i offered him the position of Assistant Manager and even he declined , lol . The World Cup is about to start and i dont have an Assistant Manager , if i dont have an Assistant Manager - will i still get Assistant Manager feedback like who to close down , tackle hard , send to weaker foot etc ?

Who will give you that information?? I'd try and find an AssMan quick smart.

I ended up getting this off Steam, didn't take very long to download which was nice and it auto updated with the latest patch.

I've loaded 30-odd leagues so it should be a cracking game. Started off with Cardiff City, haven't played too many games yet but I'm about 18th in the league, after a couple of early draws thanks to conceding late goals, and MK Dons knocked me out of the League Cup.

Arsenal are very over-rated in FM, Always get r*ped by them, no matter who I play as.
Van Persie, Fabregas, Nasri, Walcott and a wealth of youngsters, of coarse they are a good side.

Signing young talent is hard, finding them is the easy part. However they never perform to 'expectations' immediately and everyone goes crazy.

I finally got an Assistant Manager , 3 days out from my first World Cup match . I took someones advice who said to try Ghanaian nationals , only 1 person came up who was already a coach and declined to step up to be an Assistant Manager . So instead of looking for people from all over the world , i narrowed it down to just African nationalities and found one with pretty good Assistant Manager stats who was a coach at Chelsea at the time . Thank god he accepted , lol . Lost my first match to Holland 2-0 , beat Iran 2-0 then beat Romania 1-0 . Missed out on progressing to the 2nd round by 1 GD to Romania , who stuffed up the whole thing by beating Holland in their match .

It isn't those players that dominate you, it is hacks like Adebayor who score 40 goals a season at WILL.

The thing that used to set them back on previous FMs was the fact their strikers were pretty ordinary (even Van Persie although he was never fit). Now they've boosted Adebeyors stats (fair enough I suppose as he used to be crappy, signed him playing as Pompey one game and couldn't keep his spot against crap competition).

It sounds like a conspiracy theory as SI is down the road from Arsenal FC and they are bringing out an Arsenal edition of the game.

First FM game I've played (haven't played anything like this since Kevin Keegans Player Manager). Chesterfield in Div 2, not going so well, around 20th or so. I will win a few games in a row, then I will crash down and not win again for a while. Got too many old players getting paid a fortune that don't perform and I can't get rid of. Enjoying it though, and probably spending too much time on there already. I am really enjoying the challenge of trying to get a lower team up the ladder.

Believe it or not as much as I anticipated this game I'm not going to buy it.

I still have plenty of fun with FM 08 and I don't see any huge changes with FM 09 (I'm not dissing FM 09 here).

Will just wait until the end of this year for FM 2010. Hopefully the 3D match engine and press conferences are more advanced, and also hopefully they dont have 58943869544389 bugs in it on release.

This must be a rule I'm not clear on.... so an explanation would be tops.

I've taken over at Cardiff City and currently have Willo Flood and Warren Feeney out on loan.

I'm struggling with strikers and Ross McCormack was injured for a while, yet I was unable to recall the players? Is there a rule in place or am I missing something?

Feeney is at Dundee Utd and is scoring quite a few, just scored for Northern Ireland too!

I'm stuck with Eddie Johnson up front who gets a lot of chances but his finishing is rubbish. He scored twice as a sub in a 3-0 win over Donny Rovers and that is his best game yet.

Its to do with a clause in the contract - they mustn't have a loan recall clause. "buying" clubs would do this so they aren't screwed mid-season if their star player, on loan from another club, is recalled, leaving them with gaping holes in their squad, and them unable to do anything about it if its outside a transfer window

When you send players out on loan, you have the option to be able to recall them or not. When you sent them on loan, you must not have selected the option to 'recall player at any time' (or something along those lines)

I started another Leeds game and managed to make the playoffs in my first season with them. I proceeded to go undefeated and am now preparing for my first season in the Coke league.

To liven up the game I gave Leeds a few wonderkids (I didn't steal them from other clubs, I made them in the editor myself) and now I have the usual problem of all these clubs putting in offers for them. Naturally I've got the 'Reject all offers' and 'Asking price is $0' turned on and they are only 17 still so hopefully I can get into the EPL before they start wanting to go to a bigger club.

I managed to get home friendlies against Man U, Barca, Arsenal, Real, Chelsea and Milan to raise as much $$$ as possible. I put in a bid of 4.3m for Giles Barnes knowing that I don't have the money yet and although I offered him a wage that is about 3K a week lower than he wanted I put in very high appearance and goals bonuses, so I'm hoping he accepts then I can try and wrangle some more money out of the board.

I estimate that I'll be receiving 1.4m from my friendlies so I'm hoping I get a bit more money for transfers. At the moment fullbacks are a must for me, I have no depth outside my starting two.

Playing as Gateshed in the BS North conference, (due to their seated stadium).
Contracts are a pain, so many overpaid players, sold one for free already which I thought was nice.
Had a good friendly schedule which were mostly championship sides except for Hull City and Leeds United. Pretty much doubled the team's balance.

My biggest win so far was successfully getting a parent club - Newcastle United
They sent two strikers on loan, so I should be able to dominate this season.

EDIT: Favoured to lose, 5:1, the two strikers Newcastle sent got three goals and three assists respectively :D

I just started playing this. In my third season as wolves after finishing 7th in the EPL last season.

Does anyone else find the game a little too easy sometimes?

I've used the same strategy on the past 5 or 6 FM games: Send scouts to get reports on all the players from the under 19/20/23s National teams for nations like spain, italy, brazil, france etc and sign up the potential stars. After 2 or 3 seasons they all start to come on and I find I have a ridiculously strong squad and ludicrous amounts of money selling stars that I originally bought for next to nothing. I'm not a bad manager but it kinda feels like I'm cheating and takes a little enjoyment out of the game after a while (Yeah, I know I could just stop doing it)
