What the AFL says: our new, flexible fixturing model will allow us to respond and reward form, providing equitable access to the exposure and monetary benefits of primetime slots.

What the AFL does: gives 16th place Essendon three more Friday night games and schedules the minnow clubs on the Sunday twilight slot where they belong.
I do feel sorry for Freo. Not sure what else they can do performance wise but still get stuck with Sunday twilight

This probably doesn't belong here but what a breath of fresh air Lions.com is today. Got an early mark from work....got home...knocked the top off one n started reading/viewing. Normally get one new story every couple of days but today there were plenty....thanks new media person or people. Keep up the good work.

Our mcg game is on a Thursday night. Freaking Thursday?!? WTF. I WANT TO WATCH US PLAY AT THE MCG AND THURSDAY IS JUST RIDICULOUS.

If it was Friday I could manage it, even with sneaking the teenager out of school. But Thursday sucks.

Poor Melbourne supporters.

That guy posted in Twitter today that he's still working at Netball Queensland until next month, so I don't think he can take the credit for this.

And Thursday games usually start earlier than Friday night games too for whatever reason.

Because it's just for TV, not for attendances. :(

Wonder how many ticket dollars we lose because of the time slots.

Clubs survive by banking the dollars in the good times, and riding out the low attendance during the crap years. We had extended bad years (some self inflicted, some due to expansion). Either way we need best opportunities for crowds.

yeah, I'd be interested to see the qtr by qtr breakdown.

are we winding down after we've got the win?

also more importantly what is the scoreline during these times. Are we well ahead and leaking goals? or Allowing multiple goals when the scoreline is in peril

I’m a bit surprised by this. I thought we close out quarters pretty well (as opposed to the bad days). Only 5 sides have given up more points in red time this year.
There is a peculiarity to note about "red time".

Specifically, "scored and conceded from the 20-minute mark of quarters"
We tend to play high-scoring games, and thus have longer quarters. Specifically we've been averaging 32-minute quarters this year, compared to a league average of 31 minutes. We play an extra 9% red time per game compared to the league average.

Now, this cuts both ways of course and so the differential is the important bit. Which - while nominally positive, is certainly a lot less so than our scoring in the first 20 minutes and something to look into.

Ahh I watched the 2002 gf the other day... golly Darryl White was good.

Like it a lot! Almost purple! (big fan of purple).

edit: in fact I think this is probably one of my favourites that we have ever put out.

Here is an additional photo without their arms in the way ;)

I always like our Indigenous guernseys, but I’d much rather a T or polo shirt to wear, as I don’t have the chest or arms to wear a guernsey out in public, and not being Indigenous, it doesn’t feel right to wear one.

I love it. Does anyone else think the jumpers are too expensive?

$140 for something I'd never wear. Probably best to think of it as a donation to the club and I do spend more money on dumber things.

I wear it over the top of a light polo shirt, I think it looks fine like that on my skinny body.

I wear the latest indigenous t shirt out in public briz, it has never even dawned on me that it might not be appropriate for me to do that.
