Further to that, can the AFL just make sure that all teams play each other once before the double up games. It is just dumb that some teams don't play each other once despite having played other teams twice in the same season or worse still teams playing each other twice within 6-8 weeks.

On top of that, can we play revert to physical membership cards with bar codes instead of digital which i always stuff up using lol
Amen to the bolded... the digital/phone entry is an absolute shemozzle, pretty regular occurrence for there to be a bottleneck at the gates because of people fiddling around with their phone. It doesn't do what it was supposed to do in the first place ie. enhance Covid negating measures, makes it worse IMO.

+ I don't take my phone to games anyway + I liked to collect the physical membership cards.

Mr Ripper Uni Blues lose nearly all their premiership points for playing ineligible player(s). Also fined $22K, which is a lot for an 'amateur league'.

Mr Ripper, is this where all our H/S players were playing last week instead by any chance ;)

Not to cast judgment on Richmond specifically as I know nothing, but I hope this is the catalyst for the health and safety to be truly prioritized for the players.

You would assume past players will be watching this very carefully, as will probably all clubs.

Also the news about that player going to America for some specialists too? (I forget the details).

Interesting to see how it all plays out. Gil seemingly getting out before this big battle occurs. They'll likely be flush with cash after the new agreement is signed so we'll see :p

This is a hard one, AFL is a highly physical contact sport, as far as I can tell the AFL are now doing as much as humanly possible to mitigate the risk of head trauma and other injuries.

Unless the game changes completely and it turns into touch footy there will always be an inherent risk in our kind of sport, prospective players have to weigh up the risk as to whether they are prepared to take that risk. Life in general is not risk free let alone sports designed to encourage physical contests.

My grandson has been concussed twice in the last 2 seasons playing AFL and on one of those occasions(sling tackle) was taken to hospital in an ambulance, one was an a accident and the other a blatant illegal sling tackle which the umpire did not award a free kick for at the time, after a report from our coaching staff and evidence from the offending player and opposition coaches the player copped a 2 week suspension. Both times he took well over the recommended break from training and playing, he is still playing and seems fine now but you never know what the long term affects may be.

For your viewing pleasure. These happen all the time but this was just this weekend and such a good view of it.

Good luck to the umps! Matho must be ruing his luck getting back to this!

"It says a player with the ball, who is deemed to have a prior opportunity, and attempts to shrug, duck or lift an arm will be called for holding the ball."

That wasn't already the rule?

In unrelated news is Joel Selwood retiring at the end of this season? ;)

Extremely good effort by Charlie to be the only true small forward in the top 10 of the Coleman Medal race, Charlie easily the most accurate as well. Positions 11 to 16 are also KPFs.

These are the original prototype Brisbane Bears guernseys as designed by Ken Murphy in late 1986, before Pixie Skase got to them, and before West Coast got in first with the colours.

This is the first time they've been seen in public since then.

Meh, would've been too hard to combine this with the Fitzroy guernsey anyway ;)

Just confirms the Bears were doomed from the start;)

Gold Coast should have adopted these colours but instead of royal blue they should have light blue with a predominantly gold home jumper, similar to the Gold Coast Titans team colours.
