Maybe Selwyn Griffith wasn't the mastermind behind the medical situation after all.

Warm weather. To all the guns - we welcome you.

People have travelled long distances to get the benefits of hot springs. Brisbane = the new hot springs.

Of course, with so many begging to come here you could be a gun who plays in the twos. Minor detail.

Just been thinking that it won't be long before all players will be required to wear head gear, not to just try to protect the head but to include accelerometers to measure head knocks; for the tribunal. The optics of enforcing helmet use will be the best defence against the public perception of the current concussion lawsuits, and will provide a new stream of revenue with helmet branding/designs.

Protect law suits you mean?

I don't think the AFL worries about law suits beyond the optics, they have a massive war chest set aside for law suits (rumoured to be $1 million + just for the Hawthorne racism isssues).

The AFL worries about the herd, footy mums, kids that can play in other sports without the dangers, and most importantly it's value to the Murdocs.

Won’t cover the lawyer fees

I mightn't be the sharpest tool in the shed, but that graph doesnt take into account Marcus Adams games. I mean I figure the one game for us is Carter Michael and Henry Smith is the only other injured player, so why aren't Adams numbers included?
He's not on the AFL injury list that the tweet says he's using. I don't know whether other "inactive" players are or not.

Don't worry McIvor you're not alone - I may have a few Roos loose in the top paddock.

I am not going to name names but there could be a few others on here suffering from being a six pack short of a carton and/or the lights are on and no ones home.

Wouldn't have though so. Joyce was signed in Adams' spot. Makes sense he wouldn't be currently classed as being an injured player. To bastardise an Orwellian phrase, Adams might be referred to as an "unplayer".

Not wanting to jinx anything - does anyone book flights for random times of the year? Maybe September/October?

Is there a cheapest time to book? Do they sometimes randomly add flights and sell tickets?

Just a random query, doesn't mean anything.
I do occasionally. You need to check fairly regularly and I think you can set up a ”watch process” on google. also if you are a frequent flyer, you can do something similar on the website.

Generally the earlier the better, but looking at WA this year there doesn’t seem to be any reduction over the months.

My only advice would be STAY AWAY from Jetstar, they are an abomination.

Mid week Rub on triple M today - Daisy Thomas and Leigh Montagna both saying it is great and they would like to see all the big Melbourne clubs up the top of the ladder as it makes it more interesting and it's great for footy.... I am no fan of Purple but he pushed back a little saying it would be good to see the likes of Giants/Suns get there as well, Thomas and Montagna both said Nah.

I do not watch anywhere near as many footy shows(radio and tv) as I used to and I even have Kayo for the first time this season, I find myself tuning in and turning it off pretty quickly.

AFL 360 is shocking, Whateley is full of himself.
On the Couch is Melbourne biased.
Don't mind Footy Classified, watch it most weeks.
Sunday footy show.. Meh.

Watch The Front Bar or The Bounce occasionally if I want a bit of a chuckle, I like Sam Pang and Andrew Gaze.

I don't disagree too much with this but do you mean Whateley rather than McAvaney? And Gerard Healy is no longer the host of On the Couch - which is great because that's one less chance for him to say 'The West Coast.'

Took this from a Facebook group: Roger was my hero as a young bears supporting kid!

Happy 63rd birthday Roger Merrett
🎂

Born on the 19th of April 1960.
Essendon utility Roger Merrett joined Brisbane prior to the start of the 1988 season, at the same time as flamboyant Sydney full forward Warwick Capper. While most of the initial attention was focused on Capper, who was a proven crowd pleaser, and who, in 1987, had booted 103 goals for the year, it was to be Merrett who would go on to have far and away the greater impact at the Bears.
When he retired at the end of the 1996 season he held the club records for most games (164) and goals (285), and had been skipper for seven straight seasons. However, it was for attributes not readily submitting to statistical analysis that he is probably best remembered. A quintessential, archetypal on field leader, Merrett placed his body on the line for his teammates time and time again, and seldom can the expression 'leading from the front' have found a more appropriate or deserving target.
Merrett also gave good service to his first club, Essendon, but only after enduring an extended apprenticeship which saw him start 21 of his first 62 games for the club on the bench. Once he established himself, however, he became a fulcrum for a Bomber attack which, in 1984 and 1985, was arguably the most potent in the history of the game up to that point. Although not captain of his club, his leadership qualities were recognised in 1984 when he was chosen as captain of Victoria.
Merrett's 149 VFL games in 10 years at Essendon included the winning Grand Finals of 1984 and 1985, both against Hawthorn, and gave him a career total of 313. He also played numerous VFL reserves games while at Windy Hill, and in 1982 secured the slightly dubious honour of winning the Gardiner Medal for the best and fairest player at that level. Most recipients of that award sink swiftly from public view without trace, but Merrett was the quintessential exception that proves the rule¹.
