The minor premier does not hold as much prestige IMO with a fixture like we have compared to home and away against every team. For example, the 1st team could lose twice to the 2nd place team but play WC and North twice and be on top by percentage.

The 'worst thing' is when a Victorian team finishes one or two, but has to play their final at position 3 or 4's home ground!

I read about this 17-6 theory during the week. Honestly it is that flawed I can't believe it is being seriously considered. 6th would be on a hiding to nothing, having to play the 5 teams above them on the ladder, while 7th gets an armchair ride, playing the 5 teams below it on the ladder. 6th could conceivably miss the finals altogether while say 9th gets in undeservedly.

The other thing is, what if the bottom team has already played teams 13-17, all at home? Does this mean their last 5 games will all be away? Seems a bit unfair! Either way it will definitely work out that teams will end up playing unequal numbers of home games for this reason.

It's a bizarre suggestion and I can't understand how it's come this far without such simple scrutiny.

A much better way forward is the pairings suggestion I made some time ago.
I wasn't thinking playing the double ups as 1 plays 2 3 4 5 6 but more along the lines of 1 plays 4 7 10 13 16 2 plays 5 8 11 14 17 etc (and equally 16 plays 1 4 10 13) so it spreads the skill of the matchups kind of equally rather than a potential random 1 plays 18 17 16 15 14.

By spawning the double ups after round 17 (or whatever round it is) you mitigate the fell off a cliff from last year or leaped up the ladder from last year anomolies ... you also don't have the AFL secret herbs a spices lack of transperency in how they currently decide which teams you play next year out of the options and brackets they currently do.

Enough of the fat shaming. You were playing at his age?
LOL, I played competitive Futsal up until my early 60s.

Pretty easy not to be obese, stop shoving junk in your mouth and get up off your backside and move, shame/truth is an underestimated motivator.

I get aged/skinny/ugly/bald shamed regularly, people need to toughen up.

Not children though as it is not their fault, it's parental IMO.

Crows are flying home. 4 goals in 5 minutes to bring the game even.

Nothing better than seeing Lever’s shocked face. His tantrum after McStay caught him holding the ball in last years semi will forever be played in my mind.

Spending a bit of time wallowing in coffee shops I'm constantly depressed by what obese parents feed their already overweight children.

It's a pandemic , a huge burden on the health system , and mentally deflating for those so inflicted.

The Gabba's been pretty kind to us wrt ACLs. Previous to Will's injury, the only other occurrence I can think of there is Anthony Corrie.

Bit different to the Shitheap by the Nerang where we've had Daniel Rich, Pat Garner, Richard Hadley, Steve Wrigley, Eric, Cam Rayner, Joel MacDonald all go down over the past 17 years.

Probably forgotten someone, somewhere. Simple answer is to boycott playing football on the GC.

In the HUN this morning......photo's of well known Australians when they were little kids going to school etc...

Maybe some of you knew this, but I certainly didn't.

There was a photo of Mathew Lloyd and his brother, both very young kidlets in school uniforms with their school bags at their feet. His brothers bag had
colours and logo of the Bulldogs and Mathews was Fitzroy/Brisbane LIONs colours and logo o_O

Doesn't he hate us?

This is totally irrelevant I know but I was surprised for some reason, I guess I just assumed he barracked for the Bombers. Never really thought about it tbh

...now that you know this important piece of information, carry on with your day, safe in the knowledge the Lloyd was a Lion at an early age. :grinv1:

Maybe he's dirty on us for not drafting him 🤷‍♂️

Interesting fun thread on the main board where you are asked to combine 2 sides to come up with an "unbeatable team", thought I would post mine on our board as well... have I missed anyone and/or got it wrong? >

pretty decent, but young Flanders is the Sun's midfielder emerging bigtime atm, would have him ahead of the 'Bear' who has been quiet of late.

Who’s playing wing?

McCluggage and ???

I’d probably be dropping Rowell for a genuine winger.

Two shorter inside mids in Neale and Miller. Two taller mids in Anderson and Dunkley. Plus Ashcroft.

And I would put a fit & pre-acl Weller in ahead of Coleman.

I thought of wing when I was posting the side but decided to just go with who I thought were the best players... sort of AA selection style.

McCluggage yes and I like the idea of Lukosius on a wing with his elite disposal, sharing it with Bailey, maybe Wilmot to play back and wing.
