Wonder what the hold up has been with our announcement; most teams announced jumper numbers mid last week and Hawks (Monday) and Swans (today) rounded out the outstanding teams.

Wonder if it is social media team related.

Have seen countless videos (a lot over 10 minutes in duration) of club's doing videos and other content on SM and YT and barely anything from ours with the exception of a player's highlights video from Ah Chee or Rayner.

Its the one knock on our club that the lack of content on SM in comparison to all other 17 teams is far below what others have. I could be wrong, but I vaguely recall someone saying that Greg Swan doesn't think it is a need or a priority.

Our SM team is probably helping our membership team at the moment and are a bit burnt out from all the positive feedback they are getting about the rezoning of seating types and price increases.

Seriously from what little I’ve heard, we’re very short staffed back of house.

Lions appear to have done media for their new jumper numbers the other day. So expect an announcement about them soon.
Herald Sun: The Lions have inflicted some massive honours on two of their biggest and brightest young stars, revealing their jumper numbers for the 2025 season
Brisbane Lions’ young gun Levi Ashcroft will wear his father’s number 10 jumper in his first season in the AFL next year.
...
And another father-son gem, Jaspa Fletcher, will take over Joe Daniher’s number three jumper following the spearhead’s shock retirement after the flag win.
...
New full forward Sam Day, who was enlisted to help fill the Daniher void, will wear the number 14.

None that remained with the club. Only the 4 or so players that traded out of Brisbane changed numbers at their new clubs
Less shuffling of numbers to a preference of lower numbers in those days though from memory.

I remember Aker going from 35 to 20 to 12 in the space of three seasons. Poss Notting went from 39 to 8. But both of those changes were before they played in a flag. So you might be right.

Might be just me, but I've always thought if I was in their shoes, I would prefer to play more games in a higher number.

Not AFL but a Prime Minister pressor with Peter V’landys
Papua New Guina to enter the NRL in 2028
Good luck getting good players even standard players to go there to play.

I found one report that has Port Moresby rated the worlds 4th most dangerous city (rating 80.9) excluding war zones.
Number 1 is Pietermaritzburg (rating 82.5) in South Africa.
Australia has Alice Springs being ranked 18th (rating 72.1)

I haven't looked into this but im pretty sure the players aren't going to pay tax so its effectively almost a double salary cap

Gold Coast being the second most voted

A salary cap without a cap for one team
I am sure it looks fair to all the other clubs.
.................
Money looms as the major incentive for Australian players to make the bold move there in 2028, with tax-free concessions set to be a huge carrot that the PNG team can dangle.

Rival clubs will argue that it’s a major advantage in a competitive market, but V’landys is adamant that’s not the case.

“Self-interest is always king in any sport, so the other clubs are certainly looking at it in a negative way,” he said,

Jaspa defecting to #3 will pose quite the conundrum in years down the track when putting names on lockers with a premiership cup(s) symbols next to players names (see pic of Levi and Marcus above of example) which Joe will get; if Jaspa gets his name also on that locker there will essentially be two x #3s that played in the 24 premiership winning team.
What is the criteria for getting your name on the locker? Just 100 games?

How the team changes and the memory fades.Ryan Lester had 20 hit outs in 2014.I do not recall one.Obv up forward and probably contested over 50.Now the backline general of course at 33 years old.

Indeed,in ten years time we will be fondly reminiscing of Charlie Cameron's ruck deeds.
