Interesting discussion - but its a national game and FC is a national show (although for the last month you wouldn't know it!) - so IMO the coverage should be balanced and national.

The argument its because we aren't performing that we don't get mentioned IMO doesn't hold up - Freo (top 4 side) didn't get a mention either as far as I remember and I don't think West coast got much of a look in and Port may as well have not been on the paddock with Hawthorn who were simply playing themselves according to FC. In fact on Monday night virtually no team west of Geelong got a look in.

Anyway I got into their website and complained - suggest others do the same if you feel so inclined.

Someone who gets what my OP was about. Spot on. It has nothing to do with how teams are travelling. It's about balance. The clown going on about sooking, if you're happy with the coverage, that's you. Many people aren't, and to call it sooking is humorous. It's about a bigger issue. It's got nothing to do with chip on the shoulder, sooking, or anything like that. It's about the fact that this is national comp, there are tv shows that air to the whole country, and yet the victorian footballing media are not big enough to actually start including ALL of the other 6 sides on equal terms in coverage. THAT is what this is about.

Glad you suggested it, I was going to do the same.

It's annoying but we should be used to it we get the rough end of the stick in our own state
I'm so used to it that I don't watch it for all the reasons cited above.

And the people who pay for ads on those channels therefore waste their money.

Yep agreed GTG, if the AFL wants this to be a truly national game then the coverage and critique has to be truly national as well. And its about time they got it right. (And yes they can influence the media). I find it just as interesting to listen to why teams are not travelling well/lost a game as the (boring) carry on about why Geelong are doing well or the 20 minutes spent each week on Collingwood and Mick Malthouse. I know Eddy McGuire is on 9 - so that probably explains it!

The Crows (despite our poor season this year) are still a very well supported and run club. We deserve some air time regardless of performance.

Complaints? - off you go GTG!!!

Funny stuff most upset I've seen Gary Lyon must have thought Melb had a chance ????

Hutchy had to pull him up and say you ain't giving any credit to the Crows

melb were as bad as we were good in all honesty.

we just look at the situation alot more passionately coz we love seeing the future starting to come together! the rest of the footy world is far more excited about seeing Melb up and about with some blue chip young talent that will compete for brownlowe votes for years to come.

Not suprised but a tad disappointed no mention at all on One Week at a time.

Sloane got quite a mention, i think Gary was talking him up and his endeavour at the ball (or was it Hutchinson?)

You'd think he'd be in line for a Rising Star by the end of the year, i think Rockliff is ahead of him in the line though. Keeps playing like that and will get one.

Jaensch is not too old. Requirements are: Under 21 on the first of January, no more than 10 games to the start of the season and not suspended by AFL or State League during the season.

Our list of prospective Rising Stars at the moment (in order of AFL debut): Schmidt, Jacky, Cook, Petrenko, Martin, Sloane, Armstrong, Young, Davis, Henderson, Jaensch and Gunston.

In amongst what seemed like a movie length discussion on Saints and Pies, On the Couch did give our game a few minutes.

Mike Sheahan actually admitted they had not properly credited Johncock with being amongst the best small defenders in the game:eek:

One week at a time spent about 45 of the 65 minutes talking about StKilda/Geelong, it was ridiculous with all these silly pictures, whos missing and inane stats like "Geelongs average of possession is 7/10ths of what it is usually" - they didnt kick a goal after half time! how about that for a stat???

Adelaide did get a mention though.... they ripped the p*ss out of this poor woman who didnt toss the coin properly- she did win a car though :)

I dont watch those shows anymore because all they want to talk about is the Victorian Clubs. It normally starts of with the first 15 minutes talking about Gary Ablett and whether hes going to the Gold Coast or not and then the next 20 minutes is generally talking about Collingwoood. Its the same pattern every week, the shows are totally boring.

agreed. If Jaensch has another game like that he could get a nomination too, he's presumably not too old. I forget what the age requirement is now.

I don't think he will get one because no one can pronounce his name.

I saw the show too. Healy was a commentator of our game and said that we went in with a ruck combination of Griffin, Maric and SELLAR !

Healey would have been refering to Sellar being on our extended interchange bench. There's a lot of average commentators out there, but Healey isn't one of them, one of the few commentators who actually does his own research, formulates his own opinions and doesn't just focus on the Victorian clubs.

Actually didn't mind the Healey, Frawley and Russell combo on the weekend, Frawley actually made some very insightful comments about the art of defending and the actual technical aspects of what certain players were doing wrong and right, even Dwayne I don't mind too much, he's supposedly hates the Crows, but I think he hides it well and don't mind his little irrelevant tidbits of info, eg like how Sloanes grandmothers, cousins, brothers, sisters, mothers former room mate played for Collingwood back in the day and as such, is at the ground today:D its better than half the commentators on 7 or 10 who just state "the bleedin obvious".
