I did enjoy the Freo v Bulldogs preseason game at Etihad where Freo players were literally running away from contests because it is such serious business, and we still won because the doggies players were spoiling themselves. It seems to be a trend, Freo playing fairly average against the dogs & still winning.

I went to the game at Etihad in Round 2 last year, we blew them away in the first 20 minutes and coasted. It's a trend against the Dogs.

Sydney and Freo, 2 clubs known for taking the pre season matches as seriously as a finals series match. Wonderful gauge of where a team is at beating both :D

You wonder how a guy who is paid to be a football analyst can be sucked in by meaningless preseason form time and time again.

Then you remember Hutchy is a moron and it all makes sense.

How do Melbourne + Geelong respectively take 41 + 29 years to win their first premiership? I take it you're basing them from foundation. Both were founded in 1859. Melbourne won their first in 1900. Geelong won their first in 1878 (only nineteen years) in the VFA. They did take around 29 years to win their first VFL premiership - but it's a bit unfair to count all those years before the VFL existed. It's even more unfair to count those years before the VFA existed.
I don't think its fair to count VFA premierships. We don't get to count Fremantle's WAFA flags. I'm inclined to think a fair calculation would be from their VFL joining date. Melbourne: 3 years. Geelong: 28 years.

I think NicNat's A-grade game is still better than Zac's but you're right, the gap is certainly narrowing. Good times.
Notastatorcluey doesn't have an A-grade game,he has A-grade moments;by the end of his career he may have sufficient moments for an A-grade game.

I see Michael Thompson replayed Matthew Lloyd's comments regarding Zac Clarke being better than Naitanui will ever be on the Channel 9 news last night.

I can hear the Eagles supporters screaming now.

"He only said that because his brothers work for the club"

I just love that clip

Very shoppable photo of Minson in that article. <insert phallic object>

No wonder he looks like he is about sneeze

"Care for some cracked pepper, sir?"
"Piss off Will, nobody likes you"

Yeah but Nic Nats 'A' game is like Santa Claus, it comes out for one night a year and half the people still didn't like what they got.

Good analogy, because the other similarity is kids love him until they get old enough to realise his A-game is really just a fairytale.

I am quoting the official VFL/AFL stats on the number of years between premierships. Despite your post, you haven't shown that any of the numbers I quoted are"wrong" - the best you can do is argue on two of the numbers for two clubs based on some notion of "what should be fair numbers". No-one ever said the numbers were adjusted to be 'fair' - they are what the record books show, end of story.

I will happily list each of the years and teams in a table if you still claim I am "quite wrong". For once though, it would be nice to see you acknowledge that you were wrong, or at least see you do your own research instead of just throwing rocks at me.

Or he's just the guy they send out to shopping centres for kids to get their photos with him

Look on the bright side, you can build a rock wall for him to climb over.

Not sure why people continually have to take potshots at Naitanui. I don't understand it. Seems like a nice guy as well. Through 2013 and 2014, he has been dealing with big injury (groin?) problems. Go back to 2012, and he was clearly one of the best and most influential ruckmen in the league. His AA selection was deserved. Great player who has been ruined recently by injury.

I reckon that most of us probably are taking a potshot at the misconception most of the media think Nic Nat is the greatest most exciting footballer ever seen.
Don't mind Nic at all and he seems to be a top bloke, excellent athlete with freakish leap and speed but in terms of a top line consistent footballer, well that is yet to be seen.

I'm willing to meet you half way. I think NicNat cops more than is fair share around here, I've enjoyed the odd pot shot myself - but for most it's to counter the total over-hyped infatuation that the media (especially locally) has had over him simply because he's novel. In reality, he's shown himself to be freaky good in small doses throughout his career, thus far at least.

Agree, he comes across as a great bloke, I wont deny that. I'm sure he's not everybody's cup of tea on that front, but I like him .

And yes, injury has been an issue. He gets a pre-season and 1/2 a season injury free, and with another year or two experience under his belt, yeah, he could be something, but he's not that yet and most just assume that he is that.

Yeah, I always thought he seemed like a nice guy. Until I had a chat with one of the medical providers for the club who outlined what an arrogant, entitled and spoilt douchebag he is outside of the media spotlight.

He did not make the top 10 in their f/b in 2012. Wasn't rated by their coaches.
