What I am happy to see, and not sure if it had been noted/mentioned yet is that with Scarlett and Harry back, Gillies kept his spot. Was this the same case before Scarlo and Harry were out??

No one can say we didn't blood youngsters this year... Mumford, Gillies, Hogan to mention a few.. I think a couple more in Djerrkura, Laidler got a crack too..

The last couple of weeks has been tough for Lonergan playing a lone hand but this week he has support , its a reasonable backline around him. I thought after 1/4 time he was fair against Fev in an undermanned backline but the Swans are different again. If he can mind Goodes,(good luck with that) it allows Taylor and Scarlett to run of and creating scoring options like in 07 and it gives us the option of playing Mackie , Taylor or Lonergan up forward. It increases our flexibility. Basically its the role Egan would have been playing but we now have Taylor to run of as well.

However if he can't then he will be taking a mids spot in the rotation, costing us run and his fate will be that of the dodo.
I suspect that West's papers have been stamped already , we have had our worst injury run for years and he couldn't get a run. Lonergan has been picked ahead of him

Lonergan must contribute against the Swans , no buts.

Separate to this , Kelly has now been out several weeks. Can anyone remember how many weeks Wojo missed last year before the finals because Kelly must be going mighty close to that stage. It eventually cost him a GF spot , anyone think the same rules will apply to him

I reckon Mackie would mind Goodes.

Goodes sometimes tends to hang of his direct opponenet which will allow Mackie to run off him and use his penetrating kick to put us into attack

Mackie's a gun, can't see Lonergan going to Goodes and breaking even or beating him so Mackie seems the right choice, if all hell breaks loose possibly Scarlett.
