I wouldn’t mind Maxwell at six, he’s obviously done something to have his papers stamped you can all whinge and moan about stats and how they’re better than the players selected before him, but we don’t know what the reasons are for his non selection no one here knows what’s gone on behind the scenes.

Renshaw earned the spot in the UAE but missed out in the uae because langer just liked Marnus more as a bloke, as we now know with the Bancroft failure we need to stop wanting a side full of simpletons and arselickers.

We need to just pick the best batsmen it's then the coach and skippers job to manage the different personality types, picking a side based on personality traits and then hoping that at some point turns into runs and wickets is insane.

P.s. not saying renshaw should be back right now but burns Maxwell and wade all have stronger cases than people like finch or marnus, it shouldn't matter how eager a beaver a bloke is at training if his numbers just aren't good enough.

Average s/r of 60 across his First Class matches this year is not slow. Anyway who still thinks Renshaw is a slow dour opener clearly weren’t paying attention to shield and county in the first half of the year.

Sorry, actually forgot he played both Tests in the UAE (easy to do ). Thought he was injured. Point remains that Langer dropped him for form, something that didn’t much happen under Boof.

Look I don't think it's a 'problem' and the team could do with someone like that (as long as they can rotate strike still enough) I just find people get all overexcited on him because he bats old school pace.

Nah, not yet at least. Short averages 24 with the bat and 34 with the ball in FC cricket right now.

Still can't make sense of the Labuschagne selection. It makes a mockery of everything JL said about selection heading into the series. It's as though they have leant nothing after giving Mitch Marsh 31 tests and proving it's a failure.

Maxwell has only really had the 3 FC innings to prove himself this year. He's averaged 42, but he really needed to make a ton to make it impossible to pick him. Even then I wouldn't be sure they would.

Had a ridiculously unlucky run out on 50 odd when the ball deflected off the bowler onto the stumps, maybe that cost him a spot. Or maybe he was never a chance. The fact Burns still hasn't been considered makes me really wonder about what is happening to be honest. Is it still a boys club at the top?

If Maxwell cannot get a game with the current state of our batting he never will. I actually really think he could've been a player if he was given an extended run. If I was him I'd be cashing in on the T20 cash cows around the world..he is a better man than I though as he has decided to opt out of the next IPL
