Foxtel - Worst Draft coverage EVER!!!

My complaint, which I have submitted to Foxtel Programming Feedback:

I am writing to complain about Foxtel's coverage of the 2009 NAB AFL National Draft on FOX Sports 2 on Thursday, November 27. I felt the coverage was poorly structured and poorly presented. I understand that the ridiculous ‘Top 10 Countdown’ was done at the insistence of AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou (and therefore was out of Foxtel’s control), although as television broadcasters, you should have relised that it would have (and did) withdrawn from the spectacle, and convinced them to procede otherwise. However, the main issue comes with Foxtel’s coverage thereafter - inane interviews and discussions on redundant subjects (eg. the 1999 draft) occurred over the top of the actual selections, with little analysis/discussion as the draft went on or afterwards. Footy fans expect to see draft coverage, and not miss the action as it happens. Please take cues from the engaging and professional US broadcasts of the NBA and NFL Drafts, and rectify this evening’s obvious mistakes in the future.

FOX Sports just sent me a response to my complaint via email:

The AFL draft hasn’t been broadcast live since 2002. As part of our continuing support of the sport of AFL, this year, in collaboration with the AFL, FOX SPORTS made many changes to the format, including the change of timeslot and the machination of the first round which allowed us to move some of the focus away from being a number 1 draft pick to being a "Top 10" draft pick and give the larger AFL community a look at who their respective teams have picked. Our intention was never to broadcast the announcement of every pick after the first round that continues to be the domain of the AFL's website.

Like all live broadcasts we will make adjustments and are always looking for ways to improve the quality and content of our programs and value your feedback.

I got exactly the same response back.

This is what I sent them

The coverage of the AFL draft was absolutely terrible. We want to see
who is getting picked and information about them. After the top ten
almost no attention was paid to the actual draft, you know the thing you
where supposed to be covering. I had to turn it off halfway through and
listen to SEN via the internet to get any information on the draft.
Interviewing Luke balls mum whilst names are being called. God give me
strength. It's like you have no idea why fans would watch the draft.

AFL on fox sports has gone seriously downhill.

AFL on fox has gone down hill? Its fine. Just because they don't have a dedicated channel anymore (which was never going to succeed any longer as you can't just keep a channel up with nothing on it), they still have lots of Footy content.
