Im tempted to get a few of my jumpers framed.

But i know its so expensive. Everytime i get a quote its around 250-400

My question is

Do you think they look better framed of just hanging?

What is a reasonable price?

Can old frames from for example op shops be re used?

Not really a fan of traditional framing where some methods glue the jumper to cardboard to flatten it out and then it is put in a frame thereby permanently damaging the jumper.

I do like these display cases:

The jumper/jersey can be hung naturally, and if you get tired of looking the jumper you can always change the jumper to something else.

Yep those acrylic frames are cheaper than traditional framing and are easy to swap over guernseys.

I bought a mannequin for $25 and have a guernsey displayed on that in the corner of my room - looks great.

I'm also thinking of getting one of my guernseys properly framed, but do not want it damaged in any way (like Makri mentioned) and I also think framing is a rip off, anything above $200 and I think the money can be put to far better use.

The $25 option i like! I might try and get one of those

Depends where you go.
The place I use staples and uses double sided tape.
Recently ripping some of my jumpers apart, the tape is easy to remove on the inside of the jumper. Outside leaves some mark, but probably on mine you can still live with it.

You lost me at "tatoo's".
I have a traditionally (I think) framed Sturt guernsey (no sponsors/logos, just SFC) with the Magarey Medallists signatures. It looks great, it has a double blue border around the guernsey, and it has a plaque thing saying who the people are.

I think they are masterpieces. It is amazing what some inviduals can get in their hands. Sure, frame an inaugural guernsey of GWS/GCS if you want just something random/your first framed guernsey, but what everyone wants is the PI, MW and Signed guernseys. They are the real masterpieces. :thumbsu:

I'll get pictures if you want to see how the guernsey's franed to get an idea?

...and to answer your question, yes, frame it.

I have a couple of PI guernseys I would like to have framed with collector cards overlaid on the bottom of the actual guernsey, based on separate card.

When it comes to sporting memoribilia, I choose to use white framing/backing for maximum exposure of the actual feature.

In my personal opinion I don't like the way they've made the guernsey straight down the sides, instead of letting it follow its natural curve in.

How hard is it to make a bit of card to match the shape of the guernsey instead of deforming it? It also looks like they've severely stretched the guernsey to make it fit, compare Hungry Jack's logos.

I do like the photos I just posted better. But didn't have much say in the overallness of this frame so I enjoy what it is. Maybe with my next one I'll change that.
That said I had seen some framed with the curves etc and they looked symmetrically crap. Nice overall. But we're symmetrically wrong

Nevermind. Found them and have ordered 1. Great idea. Can display a different jumper each week

Gidday FXD:thumbsu:

Can you tell me where you got your mannequin and what size it maybe? Also do you have it sitting on a table or a stand?

Cheers

Yeah wanted to ask the same question as biff. I think getting a mannequin to display my guernseys is the best option. But where is the best place to pick one up e.g eBay and what size is best?

Yep I always drool at FXD'S collection and the way he has them displayed on the mannequin. I think I will have a totally unoriginal thought and go down the same path. Probably ebay or Gumtree maybe be the best bet. Sizing maybe a bit of a problem but I think if you can get a standard M to L size male mannequin it should be ok?
