Can you do contested possession differentials for those games too? Just to debunk the fallacy that first to the ball=more frees.
We win the contested ball more often than not.

In fact for most measures that signify being first to the ball, we're well ahead most teams.

But even free kick counts don't signal the bias, while Jetta shouldn't have been paid contact below the knees, or Fyfe should have received a holding the ball free - Sandilands should have been paid that mark in the last. That last one doesn't influence the free kick count.

But to illustrate your point, check the 2013 PF out

We effectively belted Sydney that day, and won the contested possession count 155-134, a differential of 21. But we lost the frees 25-13. Given free kicks are counted as part of contested possession, the actual differential in contested possession was 33. That's a smashing when you're talking about who was first to the ball.

Not exactly what you asked for, but this should be enough evidence to debunk that contested possession theory;
For 2015, West Coast have had 3259 Contested Possession and they currently lead that stat.
Fremantle are second ranked with 3230 Contested Possessions.
Yet West Coast have had Frees For 424 - Frees Against 344 = +80 & Freo have had Frees For 394 - Frees Against 446 = -52.
That's a net difference of 132 Frees.

I have heard a large number of excuses/explanations/theories for umpiring discrepancies, and none of them show any correlation to the statistical data.
Except for, certain teams, most often high membership clubs and Vic based clubs are favoured, according to the statistics.

I've just had a look at the replay and that was one high pressure game under tough conditions.The Adelaide V Bullies was lightweight in comparing the pressure and intensity.Thinking the Swans where going to be easy meat and we roll them by plenty was a pipe dream .That was a good win and 16 other sides would give their left nut to be in our position. Part one of the finals plan.:)

I just looked at the replay myself. That was on pressure cooker game, that we always had under control. Significantly I think the players that faded most were the ones that played in Adelaide.

Goodsie was huge
