Well Done to the AFL for displaying a fine pair made of steel. The right result was achieved here.

They had to if they were competent more often than not.**** said:I'm amazed. I didn't really expect them to change the result.

Will clubs have lawyers in the coaches box looking for reasons for appeal from now on?
Stupid decision IMO a real can of worms now.

**** said:I have to admit I'm not a fan of overturning results because of an umpiring mistake. If ever there was reason to overturn it, this was it, and I can see the merits in doing so, but yeah I can see it becoming an expectation that last minute decisions should be scrutinised. I'm glad it wasn't me making the decision. I wouldn't have known which way to decide.
I agree, there is a clear difference ****. Umpires will continue to make poor decisions (that could potentially change the result of the game), but you just have to cop that & they are usually during the course of a game. The Freo v Saints game issue wasn't an an incorrect free interpretation, but the game not ending when it should have (due to a poor siren) & an unfair advantage as the Freo players were celebrating, whilst the Saints played on (like a fee kick paid, players stop & then the umpire belatedly calls play on).**** said:I have to admit I'm not a fan of overturning results because of an umpiring mistake. The umpire was wrong and the commission will see that.
All of the play after that decision must be replayed as the bad decision affected the rest of the game, and subsequent Grand Final.
In short that free against cost us the GF so the AFL must give us our flag retrospectively!!!

just maybe said:Sue the pr*ck. They should have withheld payouts until the result was confirmed, which wasn't until today. Purely their fault and I will not cry a tear if these scabs lose a stack of money jumping the gun.
