Really? When was this announced? I hadnt heard anything about it.

Well Done to the AFL for displaying a fine pair made of steel. The right result was achieved here.

I heard it announced on Channel 10 news about 10 to 15 minutes ago.

they had the press conference on 5AA and KG and Cornsey have no idea as per normal!

Could hardly hear who was talking as those 2 could not shut up OH for a second sport show as well as paper in this town

common sense prevails.

what I am shocked about, is that cornflakes and the aints have made a big deal about integrity, values, and going about things the right way. Yet, they were prepared to not only accept, but fight and argue in a conniving dishonest manner, that they deserved the draw. few situations have been as cut and dried as this one.

perhaps it is culture after all.

I'm amazed. I didn't really expect them to change the result.

They had to if they were competent more often than not.

We should appeal the free kick against Reilly in the preliminary final last year.
The umpire was wrong and the commission will see that.
All of the play after that decision must be replayed as the bad decision affected the rest of the game, and subsequent Grand Final.
In short that free against cost us the GF so the AFL must give us our flag retrospectively!!!

In case you cant see I'm being sarcastic, the AFL has stuffed up IMHO it should have been a draw.
Will clubs have lawyers in the coaches box looking for reasons for appeal from now on?
Stupid decision IMO a real can of worms now.

That is what concerns me. Have they now opened the floodgates?

I don;t think so

They point was the the umpire couldn't do his job because the time keeper stuffed up
other rules like out of bounds and free kicks are at the umpires discretion so there is really nothing that people can complain about

I have to admit I'm not a fan of overturning results because of an umpiring mistake. If ever there was reason to overturn it, this was it, and I can see the merits in doing so, but yeah I can see it becoming an expectation that last minute decisions should be scrutinised. I'm glad it wasn't me making the decision. I wouldn't have known which way to decide.

Correct decision. No floodgates will open. This was not an umpiring error, this was beyond them. The game had finished. Cut, dried and complete. No relation at all to dodgy free kicks or goal decisions during games.

I agree, there is a clear difference ****. Umpires will continue to make poor decisions (that could potentially change the result of the game), but you just have to cop that & they are usually during the course of a game. The Freo v Saints game issue wasn't an an incorrect free interpretation, but the game not ending when it should have (due to a poor siren) & an unfair advantage as the Freo players were celebrating, whilst the Saints played on (like a fee kick paid, players stop & then the umpire belatedly calls play on).

Fairest outcome IMO.

don't agree JC - hey a rhyme :D

there is a difference between interpretation of the laws of the game, and the application.

I wonder if that bloke in the advertiser this morning with his multibet ticket will now collect his $32,000.

Gary Davies from TAB Sportsbet on WLF now saying they won't pay out the Dockers win.

Sue the pr*ck. They should have withheld payouts until the result was confirmed, which wasn't until today. Purely their fault and I will not cry a tear if these scabs lose a stack of money jumping the gun.

The AFL sent a fax 20 mins after the game confirming the score and hence betting agencies could pay out.

It is like correct weight after a horse race then lodging a protest and protest upheld.

It is a mess.
