Bloody hell Bobby, things are very black and white with you.

Hardwick and the club are brilliant geniuses when they are doing everything you like, but you want to burn the village when it doesn't go the way you want. You have spat it about player selections, and now this.

Reality is during a redevelopment, one which you were a big supporter of, some weeks will be two steps forward, but some will be two steps back.

Unfortunately our guys were not switched on yesterday, and they had a shocker, it happens, you learn from it and move on. You don't chuck the toys out of your cot.

Everyone, including you especially, have been demanding the club do a proper and prolonged rebuild, and that's what we are in the guts of. The club said at the start of the year we were looking at another year of development, but a whole bunch of us got ahead of ourselves when the media started talking about finals. Finals ain't happening, but it was never going to this year.

More importantly, your membership and FTF contributions are about the future, not today. Downgrading your membership will not achieve anything, other than make the improvement you desire more difficult to achieve.

The bigger picture here is not a young side having a down week. Its the RFC once again choking big time when it comes to a game which they have built up themselves as being one of the most important in our season.

The list of "Big Game's" that this club has lost, but more importantly choked or played deplorable is endless. This was another, and the latest -and also a massive sign that the disgusting, gutless culture of the RFC still lives and breathes in this new crop of players.

Yesterday was as bad as everyone is acting. This was a club with its hand out pleading for forgiveness and trust... with generous supporters names PRINTED on the guernsey in honor of their support... and THIS is how the players react???

Seriously, what a ****ing joke. I'm embarrassed that our poor culture has actually trained some supporters to FORGIVE or overlook a total lack of commitment shown by the club to match the massive commitment they have asked, and received, from their supporters.

I'd take them coughing up the coin. Let them give up something they care about.

Winning the week after proves nothing to me anymore - been there, done that. Still end up nowhere:thumbsd:

get off the grass AT, now this may sound a little crazy but seeing the players cough up for some cheap publicity stunt then fail to follow up with a performance worthy of one seeking redemption would be enough to make most sick

How is that a publicity stunt? Yesterdays game would have cost the club over $100k in player payments.... what a rip off! $100k straight into the FTF, THATS a sign of dedication. It's whats they are asking for us to show our commitment...if they aren't going to show theirs on the field, then they can do what the supporters are doing and show it with their wallets

winning a week after the event seems pointless to me. THIS week was the one we needed to show up for. It was important to everyone, a hell of a lot more than the bummers game nect week.

Piss weak - any team has a chance of winning the following week, in no way means they "did it to pay back for last"

RFC - put YOUR money where your mouth is..... Players donate your match payments to the same cause so many Richmond supporters did yesterday...

If you win against essendon, well done. Thats your job actually:thumbsu:

Their job is to play. They did that. Not very well mind you, but winning is not their job whether you like to think it is or not.
We got belted by a genuine top 4 side. Wonder if so many people woiuld be so hysterical if Collingwood did another number on us?

Match day payments for a single match aren't even half that amount
If you're going to tee off on the club at least get your facts right

FFS - They are paid to play at the best of their ability- blind freddy can see that didn't happen.

There was no passion yesterday, no interest - no heart.

If they don't want to invest back into the club they let down yesterday - thats fine - but good ****ing luck for the RFC EVER trying to convince this bunch of supporters again that they should do the same. The players donating their salary for the game would at least give supporters a reason to consider doing something like this again.

As it stands, it looks like the RFC and its FTF are making out like theives - promising the world and taking the $$$ and running.

Wouldn't be far off it.

The minimum payment for a senior match is $2,900, this is based on a 1st year player. In their 2nd year this goes up to $3,300 and to a hell of a lot more.-

Not all the players will be on a minimum match payment - but even if they were

22 players
x
$2900
= $63,800.

Once you work it out based on the 2nd year player

22
x
$3300
=$74k

So even if we played all 1st year players - yes the match day payments would DEFINITELY be "at least half that amount", in fact they are well over half that claimed amount.

Once you take into account that extra payments players like Newman, McGuane, Riewoldt, Deledio, Cotchin, Foley, King, etc etc etc would get... then take into account the match day payments the coaches would also get for their part in that disaster - the match day salary cost would surpass $100k. I have no doubt about that

Wages are by far the biggest cost to a football club - not hard to see why

See below for a breakdown on what a 1st or 2nd year player can possibly earn..

Does the pay structure change for second year players?

Yes. As all first year players sign a minimum two year contract upon been drafted their payments for the second year are prescribed based on the amount of games they play in their first season.

For 2010 the salary structure for second year players is as follows:

2009 1st round pick
No games in 2009: $58,500 base, $3,300 match payment
1-5 games: $61,200 base, $3,100 match payment
6-10 games: $64,400 base, $3,100 match payment
11-15 games: $69,600 base, $4,100 match payment
16+ games: $75,200 base, $4,100 match payment

2009 2nd round pick
No games in 2009: $53,100 base, $3,000 match payment
1-5 games: $55,600 base, $3,100 match payment
6-10 games: $58,100 base, $3,400 match payment
11-15 games: $63,100 base, $4,100 match payment
16+ games: $68,100 base, $4,100 match payment

2009 3rd round pick, remaining rounds & Preseason Draft
No games in 2009: $50,300 base, $3,000 match payment
1-5 games: $52,700 base, $3,100 match payment
6-10 games: $55,100 base, $3,400 match payment
11-15 games: $59,800 base, $4,100 match payment
16+ games: $64,700 base, $4,100 match payment

Are the top 5 draft picks rewarded for their selection?

Yes. The AFL will pay the top 5 draft picks the following amounts:

Pick 1 - $10,000
Pick 2 - $5,000
Pick 3 - $5,000
Pick 4 - $2,500
Pick 5 - $2,500

Players who receive these payments are required to assist with the promotion of the game during their first year in the system.

Based on this, it would DEFINITELY 100% be more than $100k

Won't bother waiting for an apology :)

I was lucky enough to be getting away for the night with the Mrs due to our 15th Wedding anniversary. When we got to the b&b mid afternoon I thought I would put the telly on and see the scores and maybe watch for a bit and lo and behold, I do not need to describe what I saw. I commented to the wife that following the RFC is like watching a train wreck over and over again. The comments about this being the bad culture of previous teams seeping in is spot on. It was deja vu (all over again). My point - we have seen this and seen this and seen this. Big game, big rival, pissweak effort, massive flogging. Everyone venting in this thread has every right. Not good enough and match payments into the FTF would be a good start followed by the players willing to die on the field for the club week in week out would be a good follow through.

it would be as pathetic as it would peurile in an attempt to redeem themselves...i would be embarrassed for them...it's football and success what we crave, the ONLY means of redemption is on the field:thumbsu:

AND when our boys come out breathing fire for a big game like that instead of getting pantsed AGAIN after a massive build up (FTF game, 100th year celebration game, whatever) then we will feel some redemption. Everyone is hurting so much because we thought days like yesterday were finally behind us. Granted the blues were riled up after a loss last week, but WE LOST LAST WEEK TOO! Where was our desperation and effort?

either that or we should just never designate big celebratory games every again.

Thanks for summing me up.

All your points are well and cosy and give me that nice feeling, but it doesn't cater for players not turning up and not trying. Something no one should ever accept.

I am not talking about finals and am a supporter of the rebuild etc, but yesterday was not on. It was a disgrace and the players and everyone at the club should be ashamed of themselves.

Pretty simple.....

That is, but everyone has a bad day. Does one bad day excuse your pledge to unleash on the poor sod who rings you up from the club, and to withdrawal any further support from the club other than a basic membership out of spite?

My point is you got stuck into a lot of people in Dimmas first year for lacking patience with what he was trying to do. Just saying you should follow your own advice. The reactions to this game by many in various forums are completely over the top (so far I've read that quarter of the team needs to be sacked, dimma, Lade, Campbell, March, and questions over Gale - all off one game).

New coach, same supporters.

A month after talking us up as finals contenders, now they want their money back.

A couple of more losses and all the posts will be about can we get Kevin Sheedy and Milk Malthouse to coach us next year.

Got nothing to do with the coach IMO, its the spoilt rotten upstart players on our list who get paid a shit load to do squat.

We must have a sign as they walk into Punt Road saying "Free ride".

**** pisses me off this shit.

It's the coaches job to change that attitude...

And no doubt he will, it would kill him to see the blokes hes in charge of play the way they did. you could see it on his face... culture is a tough thing to change and will take time.

And i honestly cant see us playing that bad again under dimma.
