Future Coach

I was thinking today about all these ex players becoming coaches of the clubs they played for (Hird, Voss, Buckley). Who do you think, from our current group of players, could be a possible candidate for senior coach after he retires?

Personally, I think Junior would make an outstanding coach and I hope he comes on board as an assistant in the near future. As for the players currently on the list, Colin Garland from what I've heard has a great knowledge of the game. Apparently spent a lot of his time out injured last year helping the coaching staff with video analysis and things like that.

Also Green is an obvious one who I think would be superb. Thoughts?

I know Jamar has done a bit of work with Casey last year. Will probably be a good ruck coach or assistant somewhere one day...

I thought Meeson was working with Casey? I think McDonald and Green and maybe Bruce would make good coaches, would be good to get one of those guys with their experience, leadership and knowledge on board as an assistant coach when they leave.

I have been to a few Casey games and Meesen helps Fitzy and Gawn a lot through the quarter breaks, basically already is a ruck coach for us down there. Would not be a surprise to me if he gets the nod to be a full time ruck coach.

Apparently Junior is coaching Mt Eliza Football Club next year, not sure whether hes player/coaching or not. This might not happen though.

Todd Viney would be another future coach who played. Seems to be highly rated by Adelaide.

I'd rather not get involved in the sad rush to find a messiah just because they used to play for us. Todd Viney, on the other hand, has done an apprenticeship so come on down.

I've heard he'll be playing for the Old Xavs next year... not entirely sure on that one, but it would make sense given he played there before getting drafted.

I'm sorry but Meesen as a ruck coach sounds like a bad joke. The guy couldn't get a game when we had 2 wins to our name. I'm sure he's a great bloke but really... A coach has to have some sort of resume.
