Who else was a reliable, tall marking forward, then?Yeah no one, absolutely not one...

He'd be an idiot throwing himself into a pack when the ball is coming at him at eyeball height via Bennell and Weller.Yes but he isnt going to not throw himself at the football if its in dispute when he is playing forward, he doesn't have that weakness programmed in him. He also isnt going to stop jumping across or into packs to take marks (see friday night). Fyfe is his own worst enemy!
No we can't take our fyfe out of midfield , what if we can't make it to the final series. As brilliant as D.pearce kicking forward 50 if we can't get the ball to him what is the pointFyfe is a contested beast, and if he is in the midfield he will be at the bottom of the pack and getting belted time after time - it's not just about dog acts, it's about a body getting monstered continually. It will wear out and break!
Give him periods forward where we can see the marking, crumbing and goal kicking skills he showed early in his career. I'd be happy to get him to the final series in pretty good nick then unleash the beast when it counts. The end of last year was sad, watching him bust his gut (and leg!) when he was obviously not fit.

So all this is why we need Nat playing forward as much as possible.Clarke has been a huge focus, the prick just cant bring down the pack marks.
Mayne, since 2013 he couldn't hit the side of a barn but he did have alot of shots at goal.
Sandi has been good when resting forward.
Now its going to be Griff, he is going to be the game changer.

There was only Pav still, although we were getting more goals from the midfield and Clarke started the year well but then faded and eventually fell out of favour. Sometime in the middle of the year the midfield goals dried up, exacerbating our KPF problem. We need a consistent, reliable, tall marking forward who is good for two or three goals a game, with the occasional bag being kicked, and who sets up a couple more goals for his team mates. At the moment Nat is the only one who fits. Everyone else has a question mark.Who was doing it before round 13? You've made you mide up so no point wasting ink here...
He should play where he is God damn told to play by the head coach. ******* unbelievable (if true) that he overrules Lyon on the matter.
Be a problem for the opposition matching up when Fyfe is forward and there's a ball up in the forward 50.

Only due to the first quarter of the 2013 GF.Question mark, there is one behind Nats kicking...

Yes agree ,if we can get average 6 goal and 22 disposal from from them. It will be ideal. Speed ,aerial marking , foot skill , beast mode.Even more so with Harley Bennell and Walters at the stoppage.
I posted these a while ago:Oh please...
Lyon hopes the tweaks to the running program this summer will help the Dockers work through situations when their midfield is strangled and their often lightning-quick ball movement is stymied.
"We stopped spreading the ball, so we just bombed it in to get forward entries and that made us easier to defend. That put some pressure on us," he said.
"Hopefully (the revised summer program) has helped us to improve our skill and decision making under pressure."
I posted these a while ago:
Here are some career averages for set shot conversion (not including OOF of which Cloke would have heaps):
Cloke: 55.2%
Fyfe: 58.3%
Tippett: 60.7%
Gunston: 66.2%
Comparing him to a midfielder:
Josh Kennedy (Swans): 47.3%
Jobe Watson: 58.7% (including 2012, where he averaged 74%).
shitloadsGive me more! Distance, angle, period of the game, total number of shots ect. Its easy to give percentages but Cloke regularly kicks goals from outside 50, how many has Nat kicked?
Correct - Fyfe has said himself he loves getting forward.I think that may have been Ross' subtle attempt at humour during a painstaking social media exercise.
I'm not averse to seeing Fyfe spend some time up forward, but let's not be thinking he's the second coming of Pav.
The upside is he can concentrate more on his forward role after getting brownie.if he can win flag as 30 goal forward/mid his value will sky rocket also. Ablett Jr is a great player because he can hurt you playing HF,getting cheap possession at backline also. The way I see his interview fyfe want to be a complete player rather then a mid player , whether with freo or another team nobody know.Correct - Fyfe has said himself he loves getting forward.
This average points per game is slightly misleading. If you looked at average points per game against quality opposition it would be a far different story.Hawthorn average 4.5 more goals than us last year.If Fyfe can get close to 40 gls we've closed the gap to 3.5 gls.Bennell can hopefully boot 25-30 gls that gets us within 2.5 gls of Hawthorn. Some how we have to find another 2.5 gls per game.
Doesn't really matter who we play forward when we were ranked 14th for inside 50's per game.
