You seem to have a pretty high opinion of yourself there, Vader. Just because people disagree with you doesn't make 'em sheep and your word gospel.
Its called Narcissistic Personality Disorder - he cant help it. The fact that he is embarrassing himself more and more with every negative post about Aiden Riley and every positive post about our very very average caption, just does register with him. How he became a mod on a football forum is just beyond me.

Not denying Bickley was a very handy footballer, but like VB he is no where near best talent wise, but one of the best around the club for leadership.

And genuine hardness at the ball and opposition ball carrier, something we have lacked big time since Roo and Bicks retired.

The worst thing about yesterday was the two-fold damage done by VB tagging Ablett. Ablett would get to the footy a lot, so VB would too, and his inept disposal when he got it stung us heaps, to go with the elite work from Gaz. It's awful to watch such a dumb footballer going about his work - the ease with which he is sold candy, it's like he's actually hallucinating seeing a packet of lollies on the ground and going after them. The smothered kicks and handballs, the lack of presence. He took one incidental mark and kicked a goal. He is an utter waste of space on our list.

There's no polite way to say it.

That post is nothing but an incorrect vitriolic heap of biased crap.

VB gets a big tick for his efforts yesterday which eventually strangled Gazza's ball-getting to a walk in the last 1 and a half quarters.

Good to see the skipper return to form playing the role in which he has always performed his best.

This is what really annoys me - and why I refer to people as sheep. Someone says it (probably Carl) and myth becomes legend.. becomes accepted truth. We have a clanger king - the league's best clanger king. His name is Scott Thompson.

Scott Thompson is currently leading the league in clangers, with 49. Honourable mentions go to his apprentice Dangerfield, who sits in 3rd place on the ladder, with 45.

In 2012 Thompson had almost 30% more clangers than any other player in the competition, with 115 clangers. Kieren Jack was second, with a paltry 82.

Thompson was the leagues Clanger King in 2011 as well, with 101 - 8 more than James Kelly, who played 3 more games.

Reilly's name doesn't appear in the league's top-100 clanger kings for 2013, meaning that he's had fewer than 29 clangers from his 11 matches.

Those are the facts. Reilly is not and never has been a clanger king. Scott Thompson on the other hand...

It would be interesting to see those stats as percentages. Obviously a player isn't going to be in the top 100 "clanger kings" if they don't get many disposals.

I agree though, Reilly isn't as bad as he's made out to be.

rutten, otten, talia, shaw/brown, laird and reilly. Currently our best lineup I think for down back.

I'll say it again, too much reilly hate in proportion to what he can and has done before. AA last year, idiots.

Every board has one, a player whom everyone hates on but the reality is you only see the deal on game day, the coaching staff see it 40+ hours a week. They know better. Get over yaselves reilly haters.

Yep happy with that as long as he puts his daisy cutter kick away for the rest of the season.

Got on a marathon flight 5 minutes after the game finished, so I'll post my thoughts now.

Wright was fantastic despite his ailment. Four goals was enormous for us and I was super impressed when he dobbed one from 50. Designated small forward from now on please Sando.
Van Berlo locking down on Ablett when it mattered. Gaz could not get free in the 4th quarter - instantly gang tackled every time.
Jenkins provided a strong contest and lifted majorly over the past two weeks. Great when we can get him leading.
Laird is just a really good little player and I'm beginning to see that touted disposal he was known for at Westies.
Lynch trying to take the opposition on was great bar a HTB or two. Unfortunately, often gets turned around by mids defensively (Prestia toyed with him repeatedly).
Dangerfield's kicking on his left. Is it his new preferred?
Crouch's ball winning ability. Getting caught taking a step or two more than he should occasionally but that's just him adapting from SANFL intensity and player strength. Kicked well on both sides.
Brodie Smith hopefully found some form out there Saturday, all bar one kick was fantastic. More damaging than everyone bar Danger in our team when in form like yesterday, knows where to be and where to put it.
Hendo finding a little bit of touch out there too. For me its always going have to be him OR Mackay.
Porplyzia is getting some touch back and its great to see. We need to recognise that we need to cover his defensive deficiencies in the midfield.
Thommo is well out of sorts and needs to at least try to show some defensive intensity. Some harsh words from Sando about that and decision making required.
Douglas fantastic as always despite being a little outclassed by Gaz once or twice.
Sloane relatively quiet but did some nice things.
Riley nearly invisible but it was his first game in 9 months. Not a liability by any stretch.
Can't really think of much to say about Otten and Brown.

I watched it on TV which gives a limited strategic overview. Your thoughts on Jaensch? To me he didn't appear to do much, but how was his work rate?

Would be the lowest of his career.

VB has been stuffed around as a bits & parts player this year & his form has suffered. The coaching staff acknowledge this & now hopefully they settle him in a role.

Dangerfield will assume the captaincy, but VB still has a valuable role to play if given the right role.

Some of the crap on this board levelled at VB has been ordinary. VB would be the 1st to acknowledge he has had a poor season.

No, VB is being thrown around because he is a liability wherever they try to put him. The club hasn't done this to him. He has done a disservice to the club by playing like utter shit and putting them in the uncomfortable position of finding a role to slot the captain into where he justifies his spot in the 22. The toughest job in footy right now.

The only people who know what they're talking about are the ones who look plainly and objectively, and see that he is rubbish. Because he is. He kept Ablett quiet for a quarter; pop the champagne.

His days as an AFL player are numbered.

How many other teams have managed this?

It was one of his lowest disposal counts all year! And i have watched most of his games, it was one of the lowest impact 4th quarters he's had

VB kept him quiet when it mattered and kicked an important goal to keep our momentum going, but keep going with your agenda, you're the only one who can;t see that he was very good on the weekend. Sure he had a couple of shoddy kicks, but his impact far out wieghed his mistakes on the weekend

So he's doing it on purpose now! The bastard!

I haven't been on Pets' back for ages. He is what he is.. which is a good defensive player with limited offensive output. He provides something that none of our other players are capable of - and thus he gets selected every week.

As for Martin & Riley, I haven't maligned them. I've said that they're good SANFL players, which is what they are. I've said that they lack the weapons required to make it at the AFL level - which they do.

I also believe in providing a balance to those who fap over every positive thing that the youngsters do, while wilfully overlooking the rubbish that they put forth at the same time. I don't suffer from shiny toyitis, so sue me. If I don't think a player is good enough then I'm not going to sugar coat it, or kowtow to the BF collective who think they're wonderful. I don't go along with the herd, like so many of the sheep here on BF. So sue me!

I bet back in the day you said McLeod was inconsistant and you kept harping on about the errors he made.
Bet you were calling for him to be traded/delisted....
You CANNOT expect the same consistency from a 10 game player as with a 100 game player.
These guys need to play consistent footy, learn from their mistakes to be better players!

VB was fantastic on Saturday. If you take Ablett's first 15 minutes out he had only 24d 0g. VB stuck to him like a fly on a piece of crap. Whenever Ablett got it he was under pressure. I also don't remember him getting a possession in the forward half of the ground in the second half. Would love to see the disposal map. That's the key with Ablett. Even on a bad day he is going to get 25-30 disposals so its all about limiting their effectiveness. Keeping 90% of his posessions behind centre is a massive win.

Look there is no doubt he improved his output Saturday. But some perspective, Ablett still got 30 and 2 goals in a game they were right in until midway through Q4.

I recall at least 4 disposal howlers in the first half which from memory led to 1-2 goals.

With that said, his second half was clearly an improvement on his season so far and he should be left as our primary negator. He is one of a number of players not helped by being played out of position and the first half may just have been a reflection of him adjusting to the role.

I think realistically many here don't set the bar too high with VB and getting over excited with that performance says plenty about his season.

Considering he ran at 46% DE by half time, his disposal was below average, but did improve (as did VB as the game continued)

I can remember 3 kicks off the top of my head that were intercepted on our F50 line without flinching

But VB's 2nd half was immense. Gaz was barely sighted after the half way mark of the 3rd quarter. VB kept him on a very tight leash and his DE improved markedly. Plus he kicked the early goal in the last to keep our momentum flowing

He was far from ordinary yesterday. I would say it was his bets game of the year because he was played in his natural position...... shock horror. Fancy playing a player in their favoured position......

Okay, thanks. I MUST PAY MORE ATTENTION GIVEN THAT THERE IS ALWAYS AN EXAM ON MONDAYS. :D I'll look at the replay later in the week and check the goals that Peter J saw caused due to VB's turnovers that are mentioned above.

Control/Command+F and then search for "Reilly".

But I can save you 3 seconds and just tell you that he wasn't an All Australian last year and never has been, idiot.

Get off your high horse idiot, you're wrong. I said 'Pre Trimmed' which is the squad of 40 before the final 22 is announced. Reilly made that and was extremely unlucky not to make the 22 on last years form. The guy can play, and 2012 backs that up. I am clearly correct, you sir are the idiot.

The Crows have had Patrick Dangerfield, Sam Jacobs, Brent Reilly, Scott Thompson and Taylor Walker nominated

Just going on what you said earlier in the thread:

You didn't say near AA or almost AA, you said AA.

Reilly was better than he's ever been last year but he wasn't AA. Fact. Idiot.

SnookAU said: Errr yeah he was. Picked in the pre trimmed squad. That puts him up with the best defenders last year.

..............

And yes, Reilly is a decent backman and important to our side for him to be playing as it was only 1 year ago that he was in that top 40 form.

I think the entire crows administration know better than you do.

AA last year, idiots.

Reilly was not AA last year or any other year.

Errr yeah he was. Picked in the pre trimmed squad.

This is getting a bit silly, but picked in the pre-trimmed AA squad does not make a player AA.

You said Reilly was AA, Paladin said he wasn't, you said yeah he was and then contradicted yourself in the next sentence.

If we call Reilly AA then we may as well call Scott Thompson a Brownlow Medalist because he was sort of nearly a Brownlow Medalist last year.

I think the entire crows administration know better than you do.

And I should hope they do. They're getting paid a lot of money to know more than me. If they don't then the club is in even more trouble than any of us could possibly imagine.
