Frees against are counted as clangers.

Wait, is this really the case? I thought clangers were only counted when you either failed to dispose of the ball, or disposed of it terribly.

If you give away a free for pushing in the back, for example, does it count as a clanger? I thought not.

And that he was now brought back because he'd lost sufficient weight.

He certainly seemed to think he knew something.

There was an article in the ragvertiser, yesterday I think where this point was made byone of our assistants--Campo I think. I know Alistair is a DH, but blameless this time

Yeah it does.

Stupidest stat in the game.

Anyone hear Alistair Lynch keep saying Radar was dropped because he was too heavy and was told he had to lose some bulk WTF????

That sounds like spin to me. Radar's biggest problem is the fact that he's a clanger king. He consistently costs us goals with his brain fades. He also can't handle close attention from the opposition. When he's allowed time and space as a loose man, he's close to elite, but the second he has to actually be accountable to his opponent, it all goes to shit.

I could live with Reilly's lapses if they didn't always cost us goals. His problems have absolutely nothing to do with his size. That's a total cop out.

Harper explained that "the coaches" thought some players had put on too much muscle and had lost speed as a consequence of this. Reilly was the worst culprit and he was instructed to lose a couple of Kgs but it was mostly the result of two weeks of hard training and reduced time in the gym over the last two weeks.

It was not surprising that Radar did a shoulder since RocknRoll and other have previously explained in detail how "overtraining" can be the cause of collision injuries like ACLs, shoulder dislocations and broken bones:rolleyes:

His game stats were mentioned by an assistant coach after the game. They are very aware of the kids pushing for selection. I asked what Lyons has to do and the response was that he was unlucky, and that this week it was between him and aiden Riley. I said something about Reilly having not been a popular selection given his poor form this year and the discussion revolved around positional requirements and the need for Reilly's 'bulk' and marking qualities in the back lines. I guess now with Reilly likely to be out for the remainder of the season, we will have to find a suitable replacement for him anyway.

Hendo will do a far better job than what Radar has been offering. Gives us the legspeed we need down back as well. Will improve the side.

Hendo made some mistakes too today, but I agree, he will give us some more run. I liked his kick ins too.

No he is serviceable, Reilly is not anywhere near elite

This is what really annoys me - and why I refer to people as sheep. Someone says it (probably Carl) and myth becomes legend.. becomes accepted truth. We have a clanger king - the league's best clanger king. His name is Scott Thompson.

Scott Thompson is currently leading the league in clangers, with 49. Honourable mentions go to his apprentice Dangerfield, who sits in 3rd place on the ladder, with 45.

In 2012 Thompson had almost 30% more clangers than any other player in the competition, with 115 clangers. Kieren Jack was second, with a paltry 82.

Thompson was the leagues Clanger King in 2011 as well, with 101 - 8 more than James Kelly, who played 3 more games.

Reilly's name doesn't appear in the league's top-100 clanger kings for 2013, meaning that he's had fewer than 29 clangers from his 11 matches.

Those are the facts. Reilly is not and never has been a clanger king. Scott Thompson on the other hand...

I agree re Thommo driving me crazy with turnovers stupid stupid frees and even non clanger possessions have no impact . But Vince is even as frustrating with his lack of effort and shit attitude .
Agree with Vader that Jaensch won't see a Crows match again in 2013 unless lots of injuries.

Again, clangers include free kicks against.

Disposals that miss the target are not counted as clangers, unless the go directly to an opposition player on the full.

Thus, they're a poor measure of quality and are no help when identifying players who create turnovers under minimal pressure.

This has been explained to Vader before but he is a little slow on the uptake. Anyone that watches the crows every week knows Radar is THE clanger king, champion of the failed fend off and loves kicking accross goal directly to the opposition when the game is on the line.

I'm trying to feel bad for him but i am looking forward to the rest of the season knowing I no longer have to worry about seeing that painful look of failure that so often washes over his face.

Disagree. Laird wins contests down back and doesn't waste a possession. Got some more possessions late but who didn't?
Yeah, fair enough, I probably undersold his game a little. He kept Brown very quiet, who has been dangerous lately. Amazing how neat he is with his disposal as a young player. I would be happy if either he or Crouch got the nom this week.

Da ****, Ablett did absolutely nothing after quarter time. Prestia is a well deserved 3, but I would have Danger with the 2, and maybe Crouch with the 1?
ABC commentator and former premiership player Craig Starcevich agreed with your selections 100%...

You may end up being correct but its way to early to make that call on him.

Players with far less skill and pace than him have gone onto have long careers at this club. He needs to be given an honest go to see if he had it as he is too good to stay in the SANFL at this stage. We need to see if he's not good enough for the AFL.
I still think Pets should come back in next week if fit. If Pets didn't lay a tackle, it would be the first thing brought up on this board, yet it's glossed over for Riley. I don't think his game was bad, but it wasn't enough to keep Pets out.

Haha, I did that off a whim too!:p I saw Danger is 38th in their player of the year awards, who the hell is judging that?

have personally sooked about it all year.
Him, lynch and lyons.
Well, he'll be back in the SANFL next week. Surely even you weren't impressed by that performance? Pets offers so much more in that defensive forward role.
