Kick it to Jurrah!!!

Seriously, I reckon that should be the nucleus of the game plan for next year. Get the ball in fast and long to Jurrah one out, and let the great man do the rest. The guy is that freaking good I would expect him to win out the majority of the time.

My Game Plan for 2011

Frawley gets it in the defensive 50, hands it off to Grimes who kicks to Scully who runs through the corridor who kicks it to Petterd or Watts. If they drop it, we've got Jurrah to crum it and kick a goal.
:D

Like every gameplan, it works well when implemented by the players. Our play on at all costs, run and carry game style works well when we get that run from defense and through the corridor. When we stop and start and try working through zones with our foot skills, we fall apart like a house of cards.

Davey and Grimes are two very important players to our game plan, as both can run and hit targets. They are both very creative players as well. Grimes sets us up from defense, and Davey implements the run and carry and hits up targets through the middle/CHF.

There's nothing wrong with our game plan at the moment. It's the game plan we need as we don't have a big target down forward to bomb into. So we need to play on, run and carry and hit targets. Some people have likened our game plan to that of Geelong, but i feel it's more like the Bulldogs game style. We have a very mobile F50, Jurrah, Wona, Green, Petterd, Watts, Bate, Sylvia, Benell, Dunn are all crumbing or lead up forwards. Our game relys heavily on spotting these guys up in the F50...

I believe that was tried in the NAB cup without much success. Jurrah does his best work when he's not meant to get the ball, but just does.

good call, i don't think Jurrah is the man to be bombing it to one-out every time, he just manages to find his own ball and create his own magic. Unless some of the boys we already have can develop into that player who can handle the packs, I think theres a few players that we can now take to the trade table and try to find him.

I dont think there was that much wrong with the game plan this year, other than over using the ball a bit. The only thing that let you down was execution but with such a young list thats to be expected.

Watts, Jurrah & Green in the forward line- Watts mainly to develop jurrah and green to kick the goals. with help from sylvia and petterd who look dangerous when there forward.

midfield looks to be a real strength, when I see the talent in the midfield there it simply makes me jealous, scully, trengrove, bruce, Davey, Sylvia, Gysberts,Jordie
and moloney plus more.

Strong back line based around Frawley with his run with help from grimes. I like to see morton play down the back, good size good skill and courage and is slowly getting a bigger body.

If you guys aren't playing finals in the next 2-3 years something is wrong ahah

will work for half a season.

that was richmond's game plan, they finished 15th

Well if they kicked it to the opposition forward every game what do you expect?

LESS HANDBALL.
Not saying we over-did it this year (was a much better balance than the dark days of 80/09), but it was mentioned on Saturday that the high-handball trend is over due to the advent of 'frontal' pressure or whatever they call it.
Hence, focus for 2011 is to improve the kicking game and associated skills.
