Just want to say unlucky guys, if you had a few of those 50-50 calls against you in q3 go your way we could have seen a different result.

Just came on here to say that Jeff Garlett is an absolute JET! Man can that kid play. I would give up my left nut to have him at the dogs. Cyril-esque

It's the same old shit letting us down really. We have too many hanger on's who dissapear in challenging matches like tonight. They will re-appear and look brilliant next time we slaughter a side below us. That old bottom 6 are pretty crap thing is still ringing true really. Need to weed those sort of players out, which will probably take another year or two.

Collingwood are a more solid side overall, with a lot more depth. But, they are nothing too special and are massively overrated by the media and a lot of common footy folk. They were 1 minute away from being runners up last year. They are a long way off the Geelong team (at it's peak) of the last few years.

Looking fwd to Kruz, Hendo and maybe even Hoola coming back in to the side.

Good post! I think the Pies are over-rated too, but they won the flag! ShitKilda have been up there for nearly 10 years ago and have delivered nothing! Pies are like Shitney Swans, meh team coached by genius coaches. We need a genius coach, but also to weed out drek that hold us back. thing is, who do you replace them with? People still rate Houla FFS!

bring in Kreuzer, Henderson, Bower & we get much closer.

However next week is a must win.

Robbo & Curnow are doing good work inside.

Duigan,Hampson not good enough.

Why Gibbs in defensive role?

Garlett is a star.

Watson was alright. Beaten but Cloke and Dawes are two of the better forwards going around. Would have liked to see him kick it long a couple more times. Can only recall the 1 long kickout from him.

Surely he continues at CHB with Bower taking the 3rd man up/floating role?

Pleased with what I saw, the margin was probably a fair representation of where our sides are at at the moment...Although we may have been able to snatch the game if some players had good days.

Duigan had a shocker IMO, Army an auto inclusion for mine, slot him back into a back pocket and get him to shut his opponent down.

Collins a bit rusty and maybe a bit overawed but had some good run and kicks to advantage the longer he stayed in.

Midfield did well, Collingwood just too well drilled, I thought we won majority of the one on ones though. They had the luxury of a great get out clause of kicking to Cloke or Dawes who would just ease the pressure by clunking a mark.

Simpson had a great game, in my bests, good to see he doesn't have a broken spine :p

My changes for the scum...Not sure who to drop. Duigan/Collins/Thornton are all on the chopping block with players knocking on the door (no fault of their own) and Watson could make way for Bower to come back.

Duigan will be fine. He has played 3 games now for us and already you are writing him off. There were a lot of other players who were worse than him tonight!

Special mention to Laidler who I thought played well actually...Robinson very good too, as was Scotto. Judd was Judd in the first half, amazing stuff, went missing a bit though later.

Carrazzo is first out next week...
McLean and Ellard will be pushing for his spot!

Dont know what to think about Walker? May find he loses his spot to Henderson.

But all in all, I was fairly pleased with the way the boys went about it tonight. A couple of very poor decisions cost us a couple of cruical goals at very important times of the game.

We will improve as a team going forward with - Kruezer, Bower, Henderson, Houlihan, McLean all in out best 22..In my opinion.

Hampson needs to learn how to judge a ball in flight. If he could actually mark half the balls he gets to he would be a gun! So frustrating!

It's disappointing to see people criticizing Duigan and saying 'he's not up to it', it's his third bloody game for god's sakes, he was fumbly tonight but he wasn't the only one, a couple of times he got sold candy to way too easily, I like Duig's endeavour though

For us to make that next step, we have to be ruthless in the match committee, that's where it starts.

We weren't bad tonight, just outgunned. Special Mention to Watson who tried really hard, was completely unfair to leave him one on one with Cloke

First player out is Carrazzo, was awful! He has been a really consistent player of late, and i am a fan, but we have to condemn and not accept performances that are below par from an experienced, outside'ish midfielder.

Given tonights performance I see no reason why Houlihan doesn't get a game ahead of Walker.

Hell I'd put him in for Hampson and concede the ruck contests when the ball is in our 50 and pray that one of our followers or small forwards can read the opposing ruckmans tap. At least he'd kick goals from 20m out.

He could even play off the half back flank and add some experience down back.

Houla is far from finished at this club imo.

My thoughts on the game... for what it's worth:

- We weren't up to it tonight and looked scared sometimes out there. We need to use the ball better and make smarter decisions.

- With that said though, it also didn't help that we couldn't have got a whistle in our favour if it was in a raffle and we had all the tickets. I got in the shower early in the 4th so I didn't see the end of the game, but up to that point I had calculated that you should take 25 to 30 points off the margin to negate the horse-shit calls that were flowing all night. I predicted a Pies win by a couple of goals, and if you deduct those points from the margin to get a fair result, it would have been one hell of a close game that we may have even won.

- Keeping with my above point, I'm curious as to how many fellow Blues fans were shaking their heads at times tonight? For example, there's the imaginary push/Olympic gold medal winning dive on Russell, the decapitation of Gibbs in the forward line which somehow became a free AGAINST him, the two deliberate outs which were no more obvious or deliberate than the other million throw-in's that took place tonight. Oh yeah, I don't want to forget that "mark" that the Blair bloke took where he kicked his 5th. It apparently only needs to be in his hands for a fraction of a microsecond for it to be called a mark. It got to the point where my step-dad, who is a Pies fan, actually made the comment that "I know my team is winning and getting the benefit of the calls, but it would be nice to see a game umpired by people who aren't either blind or brain-dead".

- On a positive note, Simpson looked pretty decent, and Scotland put in a great effort.

- Watson struggled, but so did the whole team. Putting it simply, he didn't get bent over and abused, which is about what we should have been hoping for against the quality talls that the Pies have.

- How much of a hard-on do the guys have for the Pies up there in that commentry box?

To put it simply, we were out-played tonight. The fact that we couldn't buy a fair call ruined what would have otherwise been a hell of a close game. We were making enough mistakes and turning the ball over enough without them needing the calls going their way too. All we can do now though is look forward to next week, hopefully with Bower back. Kreuzer will be back in a few more weeks, and Henderson has to be getting close too. When you add those guys to our lineup, we look a much better and more dangerous team.

Carrots unfortunately is one of those players that can do quite well against the meh opposition but against a team like the Pies he looks incredibly slow (almost our slowest) and disposal is very shonky. I dont like bagging him, as he has been there for us in past years but I just wonder how much longer he can last.

Jeffrey was bog for me. He is turning into something specialmas Bruce would say
WOW. I cant believe how good this kid is. What a gun, a truly amazing player is our Jeffy.
Overall I think the boys played the reigning premiers quiet well. Considering we still have a few starting 21 waiting to return and so many new players on the park, we don't have too much to complain about aside from the baffling umpiring decisions. At least now we have a better perspective on where the team is at and I feel confident they are heading in the right direction.
The good thing about it is that they still have near a full season ahead to gel and further improve their game. They certainly made the pies earn the points(although the umps obviously had other ideas) and kept pushing right to the end. Now lets turn our attention to the stinking bummers next week!

Well done Watto, Laidler, Duigan and Curnow all considered.
Unhappy foe the loss tonight because we should have been closer had have we had the right balance

Not sure about him. Actually thought Armfield would have been a better choice tonight. Doesn't defend well against the player running towards him and lacked some touch and pace I thought. He's young though, so I hope he improves from here.

Watto and Curnow are really good gets from what I've seen so far though.

How long do we keep forgiving Carazzo's disposal. He has been a great servant but I think it is time to try someone else.

Carrots was a disappointment tonight. .. but it was his frees against that really murdered us. ..

OUT: Walker, Carrots, Duigan*
IN: Hendo, Ellard, Bower*

*Depends on how Bower goes in VFL

See how I feel in a few days. ..

Also cant understand the calls for drop this player, drop that player. And its a different player for each poster. If all got their way we would have 5 or 6 out next week. How bout we wait to see who puts their hand up in the Magoos first. If Hendo and Bower fire, then perhaps they earn a slot, same for Ellard, Army and McLean. If they put their hand up then lets see who didnt do well enough.

But scoreboard aside, we matched them for inside 50's, effective disposal rate and tackles but were a bit down (145 to 128) on contested possessions and contested marks (19 to 12), so we will need to lift our hunger for the contest next time.

So as bad as some of you think some of the players went, the numbers dont bear that out. We were only beaten by small degrees for a part of the game. In effect we lost the game in the 10 minute end to the second quarter when they bang on 4 unanswered goals and matched them for scoring for the rest of the game. Its not much of a gap to bridge for us to be ripping the team apart over.

Yeah and we were beaten by a team that wasn't playing at 100% just shows how far off the pace we are.
