3 quarter time -
ESS - 73
STK - 96
We have shown tremendous heart, and I wouldn't care if we lose from here on, I'm proud of the boys for really digging deep and playing good, hard footy against a good team in St.Kilda...But of course, a win would be really really sweet...:thumbsu:

Watching the first half on the TV, this is about as bad as I have seen us play in a while. I think we played better against Geelong, and we all know that result. :(

Skills are horrendous. Against a defensive game plan our running game has completely stopped. Wonder if we have a plan B?

I think this loss can be mainly pinpointed to poor disposal in the defensive half and fanastic pressure from the saints which led to constant break downs at half back and alot of turn overs.

This loss is the same reason as to why we lost to the Doggies.

We are one of the worst clearance teams
We fumble more than any team i have ever seen.
We make poor decisions.
We have a few players that are dumb footballers.
We have too many soft players.

Tonights score flattered us in a major way.

Now 2-3 and a tough 5 weeks ahead. Frustrating game to watch, especially with all the errors and the Saints flooding.
I know we had to try something up forward but i thought Ryder was doing extremely well on Roo. Riewoldt beat Fletcher on the lead where Ryder was able to stick with him.
While Fletch was on him, get got into the game

Not 1 of the worst, the worst in the competition & we have been for years. Our midfield looks good when the opposition takes the foot of the pedal.

We desperately need Hocking and Lonergan back.

The saints showed us what we have to do. That is shepherd and block in the middle and to ____ing be first to the ball. We need to learn how to play 4 good quarters and not 3 pathetic ones with only one good quarter of footy!
Slattery is just hopeless and Laycock needs to pull his finger out. Hille played with heart and Laycock needs to start doing that as well. He is lucky we don't have another established ruckman to come in because he has been playing ordinary football. We really missed McVeigh as we got absolutely smashed in the centre. Lloyd had it tough with 2 or 3 opponents each time and Lovett-Murray wasn't too good either.

No offence, but WTF does everyone expect? Of course teams are going to expose us. We are basically redesigning our whole style of play. We are not yet good enugh to pull it off consistantly. Our players are learning a whole different gameplan to what Sheeds had in place. All the off season practice in the world does not make up for real game time. We just have to accept we will be flogged and look bad more than regularly. We can't expect to be brilliant at it overnight. Look at the Hawks, It has taken years to turn their style around. We just need to be patient. I know we have the ability to beat alot of the teams out there, but we have to expect dissapointment also. Who knows? It may come together on ANZAC da and we may pull a suprise win. Just ride the bumps people.
