He has always been pretty spot on with his comments on Melbourne, both positive and negative. Most of the rubbish you get in the media is from people who know far less about your own team than you do yourself.

He was always reluctant to get involved at the club, but ultimately was on the panel to select Mark Neeld as coach after what felt like years of prompting from Jim Stynes. That was an all time shocker for all involved.

Agree wholeheartedly. He's intelligent and level headed. He's always been reluctant to have too much involvement at the club and has always said that. He's obviously still tied to the club but has never held back in criticising or praising them. Listen to his show every single day and find it hard to disagree with anything he's ever said about Melbourne.

I clearly said it in my original post - after the Geelong loss Lyon said on radio that he would be calling Stynes and demanding that he take action and fire Bailey. He didn't say the club or the board, he specifically said Stynes. Lyon knew how sick Jimmy was, but he called Jim out and left him no option but to fire Bailey or explain why he won't. What sort of "mate" does that?
