Gary Ablett 2016

Gary Ablett in 2016 will become a massive talking point. He is someone that would be able to play into his mid 30's
Below is a little piece taken out of an article, have a read

Frank Costa and Cameron Mooney say Gary Ablett could finish his career back at Geelong if Gold Coast does not make finals by the end of 2015.

Ablett, 28, has flourished in his first two AFL seasons as Suns captain, but could be tempted to return home to Geelong when his contract expires in three years.

Asked if there was a realistic chance the Cats could lure Ablett back, former Geelong president Costa said: "I think there is. Every time he speaks to his mates back home, I think they say, `When are you coming home, Gaz?'

"So he knows he's popular back here and he is very close with his mum and his brother and sister and his father. The Geelong Football Club and the Ablett name - it's a magic potion, I tell you."

Premiership teammate Mooney said he felt Ablett had the capacity to play for another eight seasons.

Non-issue, because not only with the Suns make the finals by then but they will have already won a premiership (or so their Chairman says )

I predict that by 2016 Gary Ablett would be so sick of football that he'd moved on to Musical Theatre and hard drugs.

Dunno why Geelong fans are getting touchy bar a few silly posters who should probably be in a certain numbered bay. They obviously have good kids, they wouldn't have won 2011's flag without them most likely, but GC have assembled a scary assortment of talent with the AFL's help and smart management work.

There's just a difference between a good youth group and a list that is basically entirely potentially elite talent.

Same point I've been to making, many on here don't get it. Talent has never before been less useful than in today's game. Work rate (hunger) and conformity of the team are together, more important. These values come from the club culture and it's leadership on and off the ground. If you're going to pull apart individuals and judge them on talent, Sydney would not represent one of the top sides. Enough said...

The AFL are doing all they can to boost Gold Coast and GWS, but by no means does it guarantee success. This will be proven in years to come when they are still being smashed (just my opinion).

I think Ablett will of had a gut full of the place after his term and will enjoy returning to the great club he started at. :p

When I mentioned that Patrick's post was fact, I was more referring to the second part of it, which was

Nothing to facepalm about, as it was all solid hard fact.

I'm looking forward to all the abuse I'll get for this one. Yes, how DARE I suggest that we come close to the almighty Gold Coast Suns![/b]
If he only posted the second part I probably wouldn't have replied like that, but he did. Suggesting that any of those guys have shown as much as Bennell is definitely worth a face palm. Even suggesting that someone like Vardy has sheen as much as Smith or Lynch is worthy of a face palm.

Massive Lols at some of the trolls.

Christensen and Duncan = a premiership each with 70% or so winning rate.

Bennell = can't play longer than a half of footy

And if Bennell was at Geelong he'd have a premiership medal. Not ever post is a troll, but your post sure is.

Geelong supporters are getting stupidly bent out of shape here over absolutely nothing. Good to see the old BF gem of attacking a posters team if their opinion is even slightly negative to your team is alive and well.

Yeah, its only Geelong fans arguing

Bennell aside, I just think its funny listening to people who actually thing ablett would want to stay at some plastic franchise joke of a club. On field success or not, that's all the GC buisness experiment ever will be, and I know ablett and the type of person he is. He likes new challenges and He'll be returning to Victoria to play when his contract is up, Geelong or not.

not touchy but need to pull you up and people who have no idea what actual quality is all about.
People like yourself did not rate Kelly, Lonergan, Enright even the likes of Wojcinski or Mackie until they finally got talked about in recent years as they should have many, many seasons ago and it's kind of happening all over again with the current crop coming through while the media blow their load over youngsters at Collingwood & Hawthorn.

Perhaps you could furnish us with some examples.

And what exactly would be new about coming back to Geelong?

This is the line Geelong supporters were using saying he wouldn't leave in the first place, yet he did. Who's to say he won't want to stick it out until the club achieves success? He seems the type of person not to give up until he succeeds rather than the type to jump ship before the job is done for a new challenge.

Some of our young players have been contributors in a premiership, but you have to take into account the fact that young players develop best alongside seasoned champions. Gold Coast has more quality young players because the AFL has deemed it necessary as you have said above.

However, the problem for the Coast going forward is that with a much smaller gang of seasoned champions to guide them then the ultimate prize is not necessarily a given and that goes for the Giants as well. The key word is potential and it is a word that was driving us crazy a decade a go. We weren't rated then, won some flags and we stopped being rated before we had finished winning them and apparently we are going to miss the eight next year. So yeah us felines do get a touch...um..touchy at times.

Hang on, did someone ring a bell?
