Still a very different style of player to Malceski, doesn't have Malceski's disposal.

Malceski's closest replacement that is currently in the senior team would be Rampe and from the reserves Biggs.
Agreed. But Rampe and Biggs are not the type of play can kick the sealer in GF. Mal shows that quality not in 2012 but in 2006.

I can't remember who said about Rohan back in 2011 that he is a fantastic player but he needs to find a position to play.

He played HF most of his career, FF before broken legs and HB this year. He can play all those positions and played ok. Where he really belongs and plays like a superstar? Maybe next season, we will see him in the outside mid along with Hanner or inside mids with JPK. When is the end of Rohan trial? It will carry on until the rod remove from his leg.

Given his height, speed and strong body, I hope he can play mids similar to Nat Fyfe. But given the fact we have Tom Mitchell, it is unlikely for Rohan to get into the traffic.

He is a exciting player to watch and playing passionate footy. So leave the HB to cool head like Zac Jones or Shane Biggs. Find a better position for Rohan.

Big test for Gary tomorrow night in his new role of HB and a little look into the future with no Shaw in , hope he defends well and uses his speed of HB and can break the lines . We just need him to start well and get some confidence , I for one am really looking forward to seeing him tomorrow on the big stage and if he can stand up and take the game on.

He is a exciting player playing passionate footy. His composure in HB is the major concern for me. I still remember the nightmare of Armstrong against Port last year.

I agree. I see it as a pro-active move in his development. Make him accountable and get his work rate up as he certainly has plenty of talent.
I think he is ready to shine and he could become a real X factor for us heading into the finals.

Seems similar to Jetta's new role. Playing defensive then using his speed to break the lines and start a counter attack. While Rohan is better overhead he doesn't have Jetta's precise delivery nor does he have Jetta's ability to weave through heavy traffic. On the plus side Gary does have a manic tackling approach and I have more confidence in Rohan breaking into space and steaming on a long run for goal than Jetta these days. Lewis seems less sure of himself in attack than he used to be.

Jetta took time to find his most useful role and it'll be interesting to see how Rohan's role evolves.

I saw a few signs against Carlton that he could do well in that half-back role as you had been saying on the board, you know your stuff!!

I've always thought HB was the best spot for him. Has the height, speed, defensive pressure and skills. He is a good passer, and I rekon he could fill a Mal role with aplomb( maybe not razor like, like mal is sometimes). Plus, we've seen a few examples of him running of HB and kicking goals, try planning for that opp coaches. Also, if matchups don't suit, play him forward, or roaming. No reason he can't do a Goddard..

Is Rampe's disposal any better than Rohan's?

Loved his game tonight - had plenty of desperation in defence and really stood up when he needed to. Just needs to get his hands on the ball more often, as we all know how damaging he can be with his run and carry. Also, I think him playing a few different roles is gonna be good for his development, as he definitely has some parts of his game that he probably overlooked because he was able to rely on his speed.

Rohan will replace Malceski as quarterback. He showed the missing ingredient last night, aggressive intent for the contest. Some of his efforts to make a contest to spoil or crash the pack last night were beyond expectations. We know he can run, tackle and kick but to add contested aggression was a huge step. I am very comfortable for Mal to leave now and develop Gaz as the new quarterback. Granted he has some work to do but all the ingredients are now there.....and he is only 23. Very exciting.

So pleased for Gaz after what he has been through.

He has definitely improved his reading of the play, which I think has been due to him spending some time back where he has to be accountable more than on the wing or in the forward 50. The major thing holding him back from being Malceski's replacement is his field kicking isn't nearly as penetrating or accurate. To be honest, he seems like he is more of a replacement for Shaw. I really hope Malceski re-signs!

I think last night showed that he is ready to embrace this new challenge with vigour. The way he was at the contests was so good to watch. He knows there will be a few spots to fill down back soon and it showed.

I just love how he chases down opponents, its poetry in motion when you slow it down. As i said in another post, a leopard or cheetah hunting down its prey.

He was awesome last night, the fact opposition know he will be around will put pressure on them. They will never know how much time they exactly have

The value of tackling and chasing like that can't be overstated. When you lay one of those early and get rewarded for it every opposition player starts to panic just that little bit more with the ball.
