Gavin "capable" Preston shot dead in a Keilor Cafe this morning, this guy is a heavy underworld figure and was just released from jail, suspect in the Toby Mitchell shooting in Brunswick all those years ago.
This is extremely brazen.

Keilor Village? Seriously? HA HA HA no not funny OMG.

Someone's already sick of sleeping with the lights on since 'capable' got out of prison, I guess.

Well, this is an interesting one from The Age article and a few other pieces, I vaguely remember the name from a couple of underworld feuds that he's been involved in.

To summarise from what's reported in the article:

Preston was involved in a vicious feud with the Notorious gang, including threats against its leader, George Marrogi's brother Jesse upon his release from prison.

Preston had recently teamed up with the man who was also shot AJ Maghnie, the son of murdered underworld figure, Nabil Maghnie. AJ Maghnie was also shot in that attack.

Since his release from prison, Preston had been standing over a business owner who had been implicated in Nabil Maghnie's death.

A quick search of Jesse Marrogi suggests that he is (or was) in a relationship with Sabrine Maghnie, daughter of Nabil.

If all that is accurate, I'm not surprised that police are concerned about a war breaking out...

Not good that someone has died and another is seriously ill in hospital after surgery.

Absolutely brazen attack in front of other cafe patrons. It is fortunate we don’t have more deaths.

Would like to know how the murderers knew his movements.

Preston certainly didn’t anticipate being bumped today whilst out for coffee sitting outside on full display to whoever was in the vicinity.

There are going to be some cafe patrons requiring counselling. Imagine your Sat morning brunch band being witness to that.

10 shots or so. They certainly weren’t giving him any chance with that.

He murdered two people and was free.

LOL. Only in Australia.

He was only free because he was able to successfully argue that the killing of Adam Khoury was "defensive homicide" - hence the considerably shorter sentence. Who is the other person you're referring to that he was convicted of murdering?

The CCTV footage is scary, so many other people so close by, someone could have easily been caught in the crossfire

Not to mention people affected by ptsd from this....some people are campaigners. As if they couldn't wait for him to drive home and get out of the car sometime

Toby Mitchell.

Wasn't convicted, but police have him as the main suspect for that shooting.
Also the poster you quoted didn't say he was convicted for both shootings, but just stated he killed 2 people, which does not seem to be in dispute. Also Herald Sun crime journo was interviewed on ABC Melbourne radio this morning, stated he's shot - and possibly killed - others beyond Khoury and Mitchell.

Also has done time in 2 other states for weapons, drugs and armed robbery.
