What a performance from the champion tonight. The commitment and effort he showed was remarkable. IF! this was his last ever game for the club, then obviously it's an extremely dissappointing way to go. But his efforts tonight just typified what he is all about and why we have all adored him so much over the past several years.

Take a bow Gary. I really do hope we see you in a cats guernsey again. But if not, thanks for tonight, and thanks for a great career at the club. You are a superstar!

Gazza,a real gentleman wears his heart on his sleeve and is so passionate about the game and his cats,i still dont believe he is going but if he is good luck mate and thanx for the memories

Gazza, what an absolute legend. Tried is guts out tonight, I really do hope he gets rewarded with another Brownlow. On an individual level there is really no one that plays in the midfield that has a package as complete as his.

Onya Gary.

I don't think I'll be that angry if he goes in the end... and will still enjoy watching him... when he is not playing the Cats.

Almost makes we wanna go back and watch the 08 GF, to see how well he stood up then as well... almost.

What a ****ing champ.:thumbsu:

This thread also makes me sad thinking this might be his last game :(

Watching him tonight, I don't think it was his last game in Geelong colours. If he'd already decided he was going north, he probably would've thought "stuff it" at half time, and not have as good a third quarter as he did.

What an absolute champion he is, had a brilliant game tonight, gave everything he had, he is simply the best in the AFL. I still hope he stays, but if tonight was he's last game, i wish him well, he has been a terrific player for the cats, thankyou for the memories Gaz, you are AWSOME, we all love you. If you do end up leaving Geelong, we all know you love nothing more than the Cats. Bit sad to think tonight could be his last really :(

Gazza's gone. No doubt. (a forlorn hope maybe, but no doubt)

He's a champion of the game truly. Whoever he plays for.

Thanks for the memories mate.

You're making the assumption that, despite leaving, he has no feeling for the GFC or his mates. If you accept that he's leaving for money and money alone, it makes perfect sense. ...+ at heart, he's a competitive beast.

One of the greatest players for our club - a loyal & brilliant servant who has stood up both during our triumphs & defeats. Irreplaceable. I refuse to believe that he will leave the Cats until he personally says so. Make him captain next year if he stays. Thanks Gaz.

I don't think we can take any hints out of tonight regarding whether he is leaving. I think we all know the competitive spirit that lives in him.

I'll still hope like hell he he stays, but if not, well, he's given us more than we could have ever expected really. I can't begrudge him going - after all, look how ruthless some of our fellow fans are with talking about moving blokes who on have given their all for our club?

Can you really base if he's going or not off that game?

He might've wanted to put in all he's got in his last game for Geelong. Who knows.

Best Geelong player I have seen. He has a heart like a lion. Like 08, stood tall when all else fell.

Que sera sera and all that guff.

It's probably wishful thinking on my behalf that he'll stay, but he looked like the only Geelong player tonight who had pride in his jumper. True, other players flashed in and out of the game, but he was the only one IMO who played for four quarters.

Played like a true leader out there, we can always rely on him to lead by example even when we are losing like in the GF08 and the Coll game in 08. Id hate to think it was the last time I saw him in hoops

tonight he showed why he should not go
he bleeds blue and white more than anyone else

if he goes it is a selfish move, and undermines wonderful work done by costa and co

thompson should put the captaincy on his shoulders

Great Thread acknowledging Gary. he is a true player and bleeds for this club. Not sure that he is appreciated as much by the powers that be though. Never heard Cook say how valuable he is, and we know that the Coach prefers Selwood and loves Varcoe but doesn't seem to appreciate Gary.
If he does go I wish him well he could not have done more for us and it has been a joy to watch him week in week out, over all those seasons.
Thanks for the memories Gary.
