Evening All,
We are nearing the beginning of this monumental event. Below is the draw, randomly selected. I chose not to seed any players as I didn't feel that it was necessary. Ultimately, you need to beat the best to be the best.
There a couple of intriguing first round battles; namely gopower v notorious and indieswan v thestinger. There are also some tantelising 2nd round match ups if results go as expected.
Now, finalised rules. I'll preface this by saying that this is the thread to argue these points, as they are still subject to change at the last minute if the majority push for it.
- I will PM both participants with the Debate Topic and the side they are arguing.
- For the first round, I will tentatively put a limit on response time at 48 hours from the PM. However, this is very flexible, especially in the initial stages of this tournament. I'm sure you can all appreciate that this first round could take some time and we won't get into a rhythm until the latter parts of the competition.
- The format of your argument should, ideally, be in prose (Rapping, poetry however are acceptable). There is to be no debate-like formatting (e.g Hi and Welcome to todays topic, these are my arguments). Post it like you would on BigFooty. Content? Whatever you want. You can make it funny, informative, stupid, whatever you want.
- Word count - I'm still happy with 200-300 word limit. (Poetry and rapping to be administered on each basis)
- Keep it relatively clean
- Rebuttals: Once both posters have completed their argument, they will send their finalised piece to me via PM. I will then send each persons argument to each other. I will keep the time limit at 48 hours, however I feel that this could be narrowed to 24. I also believe the word count should range from 50-200. Once both posters have rebutted, i'll send the debate to the judges, who will then simply vote for the winner (In the early rounds to keep things moving).
- Once this process has finished, I will then post the debate and the result in a results thread, for all of BigFooty to see. I have decided to go this way so people don't ruin debates by giving away ideas etc.
- We now have 12 judges; Each set of three will adjudicate a quarter of the draw. FOR NOW, all that is needed from you is a Winner, and why? Perhaps a paragraph or two to justify your reason. When we get down to the business end the judging process will most likely change.
1st Quarter: omit, GrizzlyM/Messenger, chickawah
2nd Quarter: freakie, Power King, powerade_08
3rd Quarter: histrionics, mattman93, ochre
4th Quarter: coolcat, lazarus, dalesgirl.38
Now, as you can see, this process will take quite a long time. Please be patient, i'll do all I can to keep things ticking over. Now, questions, complaints, queries, something ive missed? I rushed this so I probably did miss something.
