I've been hoping to get this done for the last month but placement has knocked me around and as a result its late. Really only posting now to see how I go but I have some insights on 50 players plus 5 I think have potential as rookies, and a phantom draft.

My rankings are a bit different and there's a couple of guys I don't rate at all, and a couple at the top that are way higher than I've seen elsewhere. I just really like them and think that long term they will end up as the best AFL players. That's how I've based my rankings, and I don't really care if they are predicted to go high in the draft if I think they won't make it as an AFL player.

Here goes......

PLAYER RANKINGS

1. Andrew McGrath- A perfect mix of athlete and footballer. He is fast, has great endurance, very good skills and is courageous. He has played off half back and then through the midfield and been very good at both, but I feel like his best position is at half back. He reads the play really well and is good at cutting off the ball. From there, he can use his speed and agility to run off to create and he is a really good linebreaker. He is a good decision maker and a nice kick. He won’t lace you out with a 50m spearing pass but he can break away with the ball, steady and then pick the right option and hit a flat pass that will find a teammate. He has shown that he has the ability to shut down players, as his role on Ainsworth in the champs showed, and this highlighted his leadership and maturity in sacrificing his own game for the sake of the team, despite being predominantly an attacking player. In saying this, he still showed an ability to run off while beating his man. I’m not as sold on his midfield ability despite his high production there in the TAC Cup. He is a limited contested possession winner and I’m not sure he is entirely comfortable in close when the heat is on. He often flips out a ball under pressure and puts his teammate under pressure, but at TAC Cup level he is good enough to get it back straight away. Overall I think he will be a very good flanker who will be a consistent cog in the team and could make an immediate impact.

2. Hugh McCluggage- McCluggage is a silky midfielder with excellent skills and an ability to kick multiple goals. He reads the play really well and knows where the ball is going to go, both from the taps and around the ground. He positions himself really well around the ground and puts himself in the best spot to get the ball. His kicking is great and he hits targets with ease. He is really composed with the ball and never seems to panic. He kicked a lot of goals this year out of the midfield, not as a resting forward, and this is how he hurts teams. You might keep him quiet in the middle but he will sneak forward and snag a couple of quick ones on you. He is just so poised and clean that it is hard to see him failing, but he is limited to an outside role I think. I don’t think he will become a massive inside ball winner but he will be very valuable as a receiver who can deliver with class and kick goals.

3. Jordan Gallucci- This kid is quick- quick from hand to foot, quick on his feet and a quick decision maker. His physical attributes are insane- he has a great vertical leap, very agile and is fast. It’s a big call but he reminds me of Gary Ablett when he reads the tap and bursts through the middle, dancing through traffic and kicking inside 50. In fact, I think his kicking is the only thing that lets him down. He has an awkward ball drop, where he holds it quite high, and also tries to kick everything at top speed. This results in a fair percentage of his kicks going in the air or not hitting a target but I think it could be fixed by slowing himself down a fraction. He is a great linebreaker and I think he has the potential to be a star.

4. Jy Simpkin- Simpkin is a small forward with midfield potential that has been left unseen after a season ending broken leg. I think his biggest strength is his smoothness in traffic. He is just a really smart player who never seems to panic and oozes class. He has great goal sense and knows how to position himself to get the ball and then kick the goal. His field kicking is also very good and generally well weighted which is among the reasons I think he will be a good midfielder in the future. I think his ability to put in multiple efforts and tackle is definitely a quality that good small forwards have too. I think he starts off down forward but could certainly play in the middle. I see him being a Robbie Gray type as a best case scenario, but with a lack of a top age year, he could also not make it as it is difficult to judge based off a year and one game. However I’m more inclined to believe he will be very good rather than bad.

5. Ben Ainsworth- Ainsworth is a crafty small forward with a solid body and good goal sense. He can kick goals at ground level, or from taking marks which is something that few small forwards can do. His marking is a real strength, and he uses his excellent vertical jump to win aerial contests. He hits the ball hard and creates chances for himself, but at times can be a bit fumbly. He is a really good finisher for goal and a really confident kid who would back himself in at all times. His tackling is hard and the endeavour to chase and pressure is there which is good for a small forward. I don’t think he has the ability to be anything special in the midfield and would keep him up forward as he would be much more valuable to his team there, where he can his leap and speed to create mismatched and create chances to kick goals.

6. Sam Petrevski-Seton- My opinions of SPS have fluctuated over the season but I think I have finally settled on what he is. He is a classy player who looks relaxed in any situation, but won’t get a heap of the ball. That’s not to say he won’t have great games, or that he is in the Cox boat where he will struggle to get more than 10-15 touches a game, but he won’t have too many massive games with 30+ touches. What you will get from him though is 20 odd touches that will hit targets, mostly short or 45 degree kicks. He is so composed and a good decision maker and lowers his eyes to hit the short targets when coming out of traffic with the ball rather than blazing long. He is a touch player and his kicks are well weighted to the run of the forward. He has good agility and reasonable pace but I feel like his acceleration is lacking slightly. He is comfortable winning the ball both inside and outside. I don’t think he has a huge ceiling and I think there is a chance that he doesn’t have a massive impact but he is someone I would take the risk on with the expectation that he is one of those guys who will be silky and not waste a touch.

7. Tim Taranto- Taranto is a smooth moving midfielder who is equally at home across half forward. His biggest asset is his marking. He has an excellent leap and judges them really well. This gives him the ability to go forward and create a mismatch and kick goals. As a midfielder he finds a lot of the ball but to me he doesn’t seem to do much with it. He isn’t the sort of midfielder who will hurt you with the ball, but will accumulate touches and link up fairly well. He does a lot of stuff you won’t notice like tackles and shepherds and blocks so he is clearly a valuable teammate. He is fairly slow though, with reasonable acceleration but not a great top speed, and not the best decision maker with the ball in hand which will limit his ceiling. I think he can be a little fumbly as well which exaggerates his errors in decision making. I think he will turn into a good AFL player without being great, although he is the sort of guy who fans of his team will love for all of the things he does on the field. I don’t think he will become a midfielder at the next level though.

8. Griffin Logue- I think he is going to be a very good defender, although a little on the short side. He is very athletic for someone of his size and build. While he ran a fantastic beep and time trial at the combine, I don’t think those qualities are vitally important in his role. However he does have good closing speed and covers the ground well so he is always in the contest and usually gets there to spoil or put pressure on. He is also a good contested mark and is definitely not afraid of contact in the air. His rebound game is ok, and he seems to make good decisions with the ball rather than rushing himself. I think he has the most potential and has the right to be labelled amongst the top defenders in the draft.

9. Will Brodie- Really tough, bullocking player. Kicks are alright but often under pressure so can forgive for the odd missed target. When on the run with a bit of time he can hit his targets with some nice flat kicks. He always wants to go forward as his first option, whether that is by hand, foot or running and this is not always the best option. He can run into trouble at times and end up having to break tackles with his big frame or sidestep around an opponent then reassess his options. While this is a good trick to have, I’m not sure how often he gets away with this at the next level. He is not overly quick which also doesn’t help in this area. Despite not being especially quick off the mark, he does hit the ball very hard and use his body well in the contest, pushing guys out of the way and making an impact when he gets to the ball. He is really courageous and wills himself to get the footy and seems the type of guy to lift a team with his workrate. He is also very good overhead and is a good size so he can create a mismatch when he pushed forward. Doesn’t have a great tank or great speed but is very powerful at the contest and is able to win his own ball with ease. I think to become a better player he will need to improve his endurance to get more easy ball, as he has never been one to have massive possession counts. Not sure if he reminds me more of Ollie Wines or Luke Dunstan, but I’m leaning more towards a Wines type as that 2nd or 3rd best mid on a team.

10. Todd Marshall- Has an x factor that few big men have and is really good below his knees. Has great agility and his tank will get better with a pre season. Is quite weak so one on one he can have problems but is difficult to out mark on the lead and can do nice things once it hits the ground. Is willing to chase and tackle which is nice to see in a big man. Not the type of forward to take a game by the scruff of the neck but is a nice decoy type.

11. Cedric Cox- An excellent kick off both feet and a really smooth mover with good speed and agility. Doesn’t find much of the ball around the ground, and probably needs to build up his tank. Finds space really well and is a very outside receiver type, although he can win his own ball if he has to but is much more damaging and comfortable on the outside. Gets his fair share of tackles too which shows that his endeavour is there. Can play forward but I like him off half back or even off a wing if he can build up a big enough tank and stay in the game more.

12. Ryan Garthwaite- He is a kid I really like. He is a defender first and foremost and will halve every contest he gets to. He is really coachable, and had never played back in his life until he started at the Bushies, which speaks a lot about his character in learning a new position and excelling at it, improving each week. His marking is very good and he can intercept well and is then keen to run off, and despite looking extremely ugly, his kicks usually hit their targets. I think he does everything that a defender should do, and the only knocks I have are his size and his speed. However I think good defenders play taller than they are and Garthwaite certainly is good.

13. Josh Rotham- He is a tall rebounding defender who has a great kick. I’d rate him one of the best kicks in the draft and it is a real asset to have a big rebounding defender coming off half back who can kick like him. The other thing I like about Rotham is his composure. He never seems to panic and glides in and out of traffic before hitting a target. His one on one work and defensive positioning probably stop him from being a true tall defender but at 192cm he could easily play a predominantly rebounding role and then take a lesser forward.

14. Harry Perryman- Much like Scrimshaw, Perryman isn’t much of a defender but will be picked based on what he does with the ball, rather than without it. He is a very good kick and uses it to set up from half back. He doesn’t seem fazed by anything and hits targets with ease. Over longer distances he struggles a little but he makes good decisions with the ball and kicks within himself. His speed is something that lets him down but once he gets to the contest he is as tenacious as they come and is smart enough to get to where the ball will be, which helps to offset his lack of leg speed. Offensively, I think he is limited to being a receiver type which limits his potential, as does him not being a line breaker. However I do like what he brings to the table as a no frills guy who will set up well off half back and defend at all costs.

15. Jack Scrimshaw- I don’t think he will become the big midfielder, Bontempelli type that people hope he will be. I think his strengths lie in the back half, where he can use his size and athleticism to advantage. He marks the ball quite well and seems to read the flight of the ball and position himself really well. He isn’t a man on man defender but is pretty good at chopping off the ball as it comes inside 50. His kicking is a bit up and down, and I think part of this is due to his poor decision making. He is at his best when he runs straight through and plays on instinct but too often he gets the ball and goes sideways and doesn’t commit then has to try to make something out of nothing. Luckily for him, he is good enough to get out of those situations at TAC cup level but he probably won’t be at AFL level. I think he will become a decent defender but not a star. Best case scenario is a Grant Birchall type.

PLAYER RANKINGS 15+

16. Will Setterfield- Setterfield is a big bodied kid who will be matched by the Giants. His biggest strength is his ability to win contested ball, and unlike others who can win it but are butchers, he can use the footy pretty well. His size allows him to outmark and outbody his opponents and is a big strength, although I believe he’s stopped growing so won’t get too much bigger. Don’t think he is a big possession winner or at the level of a Brodie type yet but his ability to both win the ball and use it is appealing. Just needs to stay on the park.

17. Jack Bowes- Gold Coast academy kid who just seems too vanilla to me to be a great AFL footballer. Doesn’t have any real attributes other than being clean and composed. Kicking is neat but occasionally loopy and could certainly be better. Doesn’t find a heap of the ball and isn’t a guy who will hurt you with limited touches. Does read the play well though and is one touch and composed under pressure. Will be a reasonable player but doesn’t have a massive ceiling.

18. Shai Bolton- Electric speed and fantastic evasiveness as well as being a good finisher. Looks fantastic in space but burns the footy- technical issue with his kicking where he seems to lean back and kick off balance. Seems to try to kick it as hard as he can all the time which limits him. He just eats up metres on the wing though and could be one of those guys who go missing some weeks but are best on the next.

19. Taylin Duman- Looks like an old school centreman to me. Comfortable working around the middle of the field and back half which are spots which utilise his strengths in reading the play and then using his good decision making to go from there. He could play anywhere on the field though as he can kick, mark, tackle and is powerful. He is very skinny though and is only really good in straight lines. I’d play him off half back and see what happens.

20. Esava Ratugolea- Key forward/ruck who is very raw but very athletic. Has a massive leap which helps him when he goes into the ruck and means he always makes a contest and makes defenders nervous when the ball goes in long and high. He likes to try to stay involved when the ball hits the ground but lacks a bit of polish. Once he understands where to run to and how to find more of the ball I think he will become very good. A project but one worth undertaking.

21. Kobe Mutch- A natural footballer who finds the footy with ease. He works from contest to contest and is active around the footy, always staying involved with a tackle, block, chase or getting hands on it himself. His kicking is neat, without being a strength of his. His decision making and composure is what impresses me as he is able to stop and prop and change his mind when a kick isn’t on and find another option. Will never be a star but will be a good accumulator in the middle. I liken him to Brad Ebert from Port.

22. Jonty Scharenberg- Really good clearance player. Reads the ball really well off the ruckman’s hand and gets a quick handball out every time. Starts a lot of forward thrusts through getting first hands on the ball and is really dangerous when he handballs first rather than kicking, which isn’t a strength. Strong in the contest and gets his arms up all the time to take tackles. Kicking is inconsistent, especially when on the run. Seems slow and can’t break away from the contest and often is off balance when kicking which results in poor kicks to contests or turnovers when he either needs to take one more or one less step and balance himself properly. Doesn’t have this problem when kicking off the mark. Good one on one mark and has a good leap.

23. Will Hayward- reads the ball well in the air and attacks it from deep although doesn’t have a huge vertical leap. Really nice set shot kicking action and a big kick. Willing tackler up forward. Quick- 2.90 20m but doesn’t really use that in a game.

24. Sam Powell-Pepper- Has some real power and uses it effectively but is not overly composed or clean with the ball which limits him a little. His kicking is good at times and poor at others. Its really quite inconsistent, which is frustrating because he isn’t always a bad kick and can lace out targets at times but then horribly miss with the next kick. He hits the ball so hard and is so strong at the contest that he will win most one on one battles. He will need to be smarter with his body positioning at AFL level though as he won’t be able to man handle kids like he did at times this year. I think he has a role to play at AFL level but won’t be a star. Could be a Ben Cunnington type at best.

25. Brad Scheer- An ugly yet effective kick (two handed ball drop). Really good one on one player who can win the ball in the contest- a real see ball, get ball player. Has performed well in the NEAFL, probably as good as Bowes. Bobbed up in the champs when the Allies needed him to. If he can get more outside ball he would be a much more damaging player.

26. Alex Witherden- He seems to be one of those guys that has everything slow down around him. He is such a good decision maker and is really composed. He isn’t a super damaging kick, but is a fairly reasonable one. Similarly, by hand he is pretty good without being elite. His pick ups are clean and he isn’t fumbly, which makes him quick to fire off the ball. He hasn’t shown any real ability to go into the middle due to injury but I’m not sure he is going to be a star in there. He may be a rotation mid but he would be a fine receiver off half back without being the go to guy back there.

27. Tom Williamson- Basically a bottom ager with his late birthday. He played mainly off half back but I think he could easily play off a wing. His kicking is very nice and he has good penetration and weighting on them. The knock on him is his ability to win contested ball but I do see some scope to that, as he gets bigger and stronger as he doesn’t sheepdog all the time and can ride a bump and give the ball off. I think there is a bit to work with here.

28. Matt Guelfi- One of the best kicks in the draft pool. Has a long, penetrating boot and can hit 55m passes on the run. Is the type of guy who would make defenders panic because he can put it into a dangerous area from a centre clearance. Reads the ball well in the air and is adept at winning centre clearances. Can dish off well by hand and is clean and composed over the ball. Was overlooked last year but improved late and then had a very good year this year, and ended in the Claremont league team where he was a solid contributor, and most importantly his kicking continued to shine, even with more pressure on him. He can also take a good mark so I think he could slip down into the forward line where his long kick would make him a dangerous proposition.

29. Brennan Cox- A swingman who I think settles down back. His marking is quite good and he has a nice leap, especially when he gets a run at the footy. He likes to spoil first and is good at getting something out of a contest. His versatility will appeal, and so will his athleticism so there is something to work with, but he needs to become a bit more hungry for the contest and start hitting the ball at pace and busting packs open to really take advantage of his athletic attributes. If he does this then he could be a very good player.

30. Jacob Allison- Fast, clean with his hands, works really hard around the ground and gets to many contests and usually puts in 2 or 3 efforts and links up really well. Attacks the ball pretty hard and a big frame, although not much meat on it. Pretty lanky and tends to put his teammates under pressure at times- prone to a hospital handball. Kicking is fine, more of a decision making issue at times- biting off more than he can chew.

31. Willem Drew- Really good workrate and covers a lot of ground. Has a big body and uses it to win contested ball and is good by hand when he does win it. Hits the contest hard and tackles well. His top end speed is fine but his acceleration is lacking so his rebound game is quite limited unless he has a heap of space. More of an accumulator type who won’t cause a heap of damage.

32. Jake Waterman- Mobile third tall with a big frame. Likes to play a lead up game and moves around the ground well for someone of his size and build. He hits the ball hard is quite aggressive around the ball. However he isn’t very clean when the ball hits the ground and his agility his poor which means he is almost out of the game if he doesn’t mark it. Plays similarly to Brett Ebert.

33. Zach Sproule- I like Sproule as a swingman who can play well at either end. I think he is a forward but his best games have come as a defender. He is very agile and can put in a good lead and change direction to get to the ball or beat his man and he takes them right out in front of his body making it hard to spoil. He’s also a nice field kick which is useful when he is up the ground. His big weaknesses come when the game gets tough and he tends to fade out. He doesn’t have it in him to lift to the occasion and fight out of a tough spot. He also has a tendency to go missing and is a real confidence player. However when he is on I really like him.

34. Josh Williams- Has elite speed and uses it well. You can kick the ball in front of him and he will get there first and then put 10m on his man. However his kicking lacks polish and he tends to kick everything at full speed. Similarly, he has the same problem with his goalkicking. Has produced to a good standard in the NEAFL but will need to work on staying in the game and being able to find his own ball as he is very much a receiver at this stage. He does tend to create chances at goal though and could be a handy half forward/wingman at his size and with his physical attributes.

35. Joe Atley- A real bull at the contest. Sp competitive and will attack the ball hard or the ball carrier to put pressure on. Loves a tackle. Prefers to handball rather than kick and is prepared to hold onto it for a split second longer to ensure he finds a target, his strong build allows him to do so. His kicking is a little loopy but generally goes where it is supposed to.

36. Oliver Florent- Has a bit of x factor and appears to have a touch of class but his kicks are hit and miss and as an outside player, this is a bit worrying. Has a really good sidestep and is really good at ducking in and out of traffic and tackles. Seems like he is taking it easy out on the field and not concentrating 100%.

37. Brandan Parfitt- A linebreaking mid who has great speed and agility. He loves to take the game on, sometimes to his detriment though as he can run into trouble and the higher a level he played in the more he got caught or found himself in spots he couldn’t get out of. He is also a butcher by foot and misses a lot of targets. By hand however he looks really good as he breaks away and creates for others. He is a prolific ball winner at junior level so he can find the footy, just needs to learn how to use it and he could be very good.

38. Elliott Himmelberg- An aggressive tall than can play anywhere. Has queries over his ball use, both by hand and by foot. Tends to overkick the ball and by hand its very hit and miss. Hits the ball hard in the air and runs to the right spot more often than not. Will put in repeat efforts and bulldoze his way through to get the ball.

39. Isaac Cumming- Linebreaking defender who has good speed. Usually kicks the ball really well but is prone to rushing and perceiving himself to be under more pressure than he actually is. Attacks the ball well and chases hard to put pressure on. Needs to find more of the ball though to be a good AFL player.

40. Tim English- Overager who is really mobile for his size and could play anywhere. He is good below his knees for such a big guy and is a surprisingly good field kick for a 205cm boy. He finds the footy well around the ground for a ruckman and is pretty much a mid as soon as the ball hits the ground. As far as rucking goes, his tapwork is pretty good but he doesn’t really do anything else that a ruckman does. He doesn’t seem comfortable running back and taking marks in front of forwards so that rules him out of playing centre half back as has been suggested. He also doesn’t have a huge physical presence and has a lack of strength. I don’t know about his ability to play forward either. I think he is a midfielder trapped in a ruckman’s body. He would be a real poor mans Blicavs due to the difference in running ability in the pair.

41. Jarrod Berry- Neat kick when going short but long kicks are hit and miss, strong through the hips and can take a tackle and pick it up below his knees although can rush under pressure. Provides good link up and reportedly a great leader.

42. Luke Ryan- A good ball user off half back who is a very good interceptor of the ball. He reads it well in the air and is able to get around his man with ease and work to the front. He certainly plays a lot taller than his 186cm frame would suggest. However he is less competitive when the ball hits the ground, and I don’t know if he will be able to outmark people to the same degree at a higher level. I have doubts.

43. Corey Lyons- Not a quick player but a smart accumulator of the footy. Kicking is ok and is a reasonable finisher. He works really hard to get to the ball and just knows where it is going to go next. Doesn’t stand out as someone who will hurt you offensively but doesn’t do anything glaringly bad either.

44. Harrison Macreadie- Another wingman in a tall body. He reads the ball well, which is a good start for a key defender, but he struggles to actually defend a man and isn’t a fan of physicality. His skills are good though, and so is his ability to run and carry, so I think he could easily play off a wing. However, is he the best fit out on a wing when there are better ball users and runners that could play there?

45. Myles Poholke- Not sure he really has a trick but does a few things well. Has a good tank and gets to a lot of contests and generally links up well when he gets there. Is good at slipping in and out of tackles and has a big strong frame to do so. Is good one on one and does a bit of bullocking work but you would expect him to dominate contested possessions more at his size. His kicking is a little hit and miss too but when it is on, he can nail passes, weighting them perfectly and putting his man exactly where he wants him.

46. Dylan Clarke- Really good accumulator of the ball and a hard worker around the ground. If he only handballed he would be fine but his kicking is quite poor and undoes a lot of his hard work in winning the ball. Links up well and gets his hands on it a lot though.

47. Jordan Ridley- Tall utility who seems most comfortable off half back. His strength to me is his overhead marking which starts a lot of attacking drives. He uses his size well in the air and takes it at its highest point. I’ve seen kicking listed as a strength but I think he is safe more than anything and his kicks aren’t overly penetrating or long. He also has a tendency to go to ground and tries to do too much by hand, over hitting handballs or missing targets by hand. I think his deficiencies outweigh his strengths.

48. Daniel Venables- I don’t see it with him. He has a fair bit of power and can burst through traffic but that is about it. His kicking looks good mechanically but doesn’t always hit the target and he just doesn’t seem to be able to find enough of the footy to make a big impact. He is tough and hits the ball hard though, but I’m not sure he makes it since he can’t seem to find the footy enough at junior level so I can’t see him suddenly turning into a big time accumulator at a higher level.

49. Jack Graham- He finds a lot of the ball and is a big time accumulator but I don’t see what attributes he has that make him draftable. His kicking is inconsistent, he is injury prone and not overly quick. He is quite tenacious and has a never give up attitude at the contest but isn’t a bull at the contest like a Powell-Pepper type.

50. Josh Battle- Field kicking very good as is his endurance which allows him to work up the ground. However once the ball hits the ground he has nothing and turns it over nearly every time as he is really rushed- limited agility and quite fumbly below his knees. Pretty good contested mark. My concern is that he has such poor agility and mobility below his knees that if the ball doesn’t come straight to him he will struggle to get it. He also doesn’t have the speed off the mark to get away or the size to win a wrestle so he will need to rack up massive kms to get a kick. I think he is a bust.

36. Pat Kerr- Kerr has really good hands and takes a lot of marks. His marking is certainly a strength and he will clunk them if he gets a run at it. The problem for Kerr is getting separation from his man in the first place as he is quite slow and struggles with repeat leads and losing his man on the lead. He is a fairly limited player who I think will struggle.

5 more I like- rookie types-

1. Hisham Kerbatieh- Small forward who tackles well and finds the goals regularly. I rated him highly last year and he has performed well in the VFL this year after going undrafted.

2. Rowan Marshall- 19 year old ruckman who I liked last year as well. Very mobile and covers the ground well for someone 200cm tall and also kicks well for someone his size. Likes to stay involved when the ball hits the ground. Tapwork is good.

3. Nathan Mullenger-McHugh- Raw 19 year old who had his first year in the system this year. Really physical and aggressive kid who played as an undersized ruck but could easily go forward and rough people up down there. Has great hands and great touch and moves fairly well. Seems to be a real confidence player though as he floats in and out of games a lot. Another project but there’s a bit to work with.

4. Quinton Narkle- 19 year old who loves the hard stuff and also kicks the ball quite well. Struggled to get on the park but when he did he went really well.

5. Bailey Banfield- Really nice size for a midfielder and he finds the footy and uses it well. I haven’t heard anyone mention him but think he could be really good. Has WAFL senior experience and acquitted himself well at every level this year.

I'm surprised so many are describing Florent as an outside player. I think his strengths and style of play mean he will be more inside than outside.

Sorry, but do yourself a favour and try and find vision of him playing against Vic Metro in the Champs. That's just a really uneducated comment. All your other points are pretty accurate, but if you doubt his ability to take intercept marks then I doubt you've watched much of English at all.

So because he did in one game means he is a natural at reading the ball and sitting in the hole? May have been worded poorly but I don't think he seems comfortable dropping back, and it has to be something you either 100% commit to doing or you will look silly if you half go. I just don't think he plays like a regular ruckman.

I'm not saying he's a natural, just that he has prowess in that area. The game against the Allies, he showed it, too. I just don't really understand your logic as to why he doesn't look comfortable doing that. Especially being someone who played solely as a ruckman in the Champs, English's intercept marking throughout was solid, with the Metro game of particular note. Didn't see much of him having a 'half go' in any of those games.

Would love this draft as an Essendon fan. Who's this Tweedie guy?
Taller prospect, don't know much about him, had a 6 goal haul within two games in the TAC Cup. Think he's got good athleticism. Dogs met with him around September.

Now the draft has been run, I think you deserve recognition for a very accurate draft. In my analysis, this draft was the closest of all. (Done by comparing the top 30 draft picks with where each phantom drafter thought they would go.) Only Brett Anderson at SEN did slightly better.

Yeah pretty good effort really. And from the player write ups happy with the Dockers lot.

And good on you Clem for devising your rating thread. Been excellent. hope it becomes a BF fixture at draft time.
