BigFooty Geelong Board Golden Rules

BigFooty Commandments

All posters must adhere to the rules outlined by the The BigFooty 12 Commandments

Full site rules can be found here: http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/help/terms

Rules about content can be found here: https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/adult-content-forbidden-on-bigfooty.1217142/

On registration you agreed to not use the forum to submit or link to any Content which is:
  • defamatory,
  • hateful,
  • threatening,
  • abusive,
  • spam or spam-like,
  • likely to offend,
  • contains adult or objectionable content,
  • contains personal information of others,
  • risks copyright infringement,
  • encourages unlawful activity,
  • or otherwise violates any laws.

Additional Geelong Board general rules

  1. The moderators aren't robots and don't necessarily read every post. If you see something that you take offence with or is a breach of the forum rules, click the Report Post icon
    report.gif
in the offensive post and it will be moderated.
  2. Geelong Board and Cat Scan is for football related discussion (all other talk should be kept to The Scratching Post or other boards)
  3. This is the Geelong Board. Opposition supporters will be infracted for trolling on this board. We welcome balanced discussion from opposition posters.
  4. Geelong supporters are allowed to be arrogant on the Geelong Board. Opposition supporters criticising Geelong supporters for arrogant posts on the Geelong Board may be infracted. This also applies to internal interaction between Geelong posters.
  5. If a Geelong poster has been trolling your board then please inform your moderator to deal with that individual rather than take revenge here. Serious infractions will be given to all opposition trolls regardless of alleged trolling by Geelong supporters on your own board.
  6. This is the Geelong Football Club supporter board. It is a commonplace for said supporters to interact with each other about the club. In no way does that interaction need to be, at every encounter, positive or non critical. Robust discussion and contradicting opinions are the life blood of the board. However, in totality, ones overall presence must reflect support of the club. A continued or consistent negative and derogatory/inflammatory stance pervasive through a majority of posts will be met with removal from access to the board. Posters determined to be intentionally and repeatedly creating an environment that is unfit or unhealthy to the long term discussion of the GFC will be removed.
Once more, if you are not sure, do not post it. Always ask a moderator first.

Posting articles on BigFooty

To post an article you must follow this method:

Headline of article (if required - best to put it as the thread title)
Link to article
Quote an excerpt of article, up to two paragraphs in length
Link to article

There must be no more posted, unless you have specific remarks about specific paragraphs or sentences. In this case, you should:

Write your comment
Quote another relevant except, up to a paragraph in length
Add further comment

Entire articles are not to be posted. This includes in private boards and social groups. Breaking this rule will lead to warnings and infractions.

Selling of match tickets (including Grand Final tickets)

Tickets can only be offered for sale on this board for market price plus 10% for costs incurred buying the tickets. BigFooty takes no responsibility for any transactions done through this site.

If you come across anyone attempting to scalp tickets to big games (at exorbitant prices) please report them.

Posting Links to Torrent or Usenet Sites or files

'Clickable hyperlinks' to sites or files, for example http://site.com, is not allowed.

However, posting site.com is not 'clickable' and is allowed.

Sending a direct 'clickable hyperlink' via a private message is fine.

By directly linking to sites and files puts BigFooty at risk of prosecution under copyright laws here and in the USA (where the owners of this site are based).

Closing thoughts

It is your responsibility to know and abide by these rules. Playing the "I didn't know the rules" card is NOT an excuse.

These guidelines also apply to Cat Scan and The Scratching Post.

Remember common sense is a wonderful thing, use it. The rules are just meant to keep the board enjoyable for everyone and not just a few. So have fun and remember that this is a shared community not just a platform for your gripes and grievances or opinions. So take it easy, get to know people, build rapport, and your experience will be so much better as you will become part of our community.

Go Cats!

A new rule from on high relating to video streams:

Video Streams

International viewers can get live video of games from http://www.afl.livesport.tv/.

Local viewers can see games on FTA (when applicable), Foxtel or via XBox or T-Box (though you'd need to be desperate given the limitations of T-Box).

Please do not post on this board asking for links to streams. Your account will be suspended for a day.

Re: Geelong Board rules thread (updated 20 February) and directory

FYI SJ,

the http://www.afl.livesport.tv/. schedule doesn't cover all games -only selected games and blacked out by regions ( unless they have moved the goalposts again this year).

It think it's 99USD for the season. It's a great service and very reliable most of the time....

Go Catters....

(apologies if this the wrong spot for the info...)

Re: Geelong Board rules thread (updated 20 February) and directory

The Scratching Post

The Scratching Post is a privatised board for off-topic discussions and a private way to vent your spleen.

Often, threads from the Geelong Board will be moved to The Scratching Post and can only be seen with a subscription to this private Board.

To join The Scratching Post:

  1. Request access from the Group Memberships section under My BigFooty.
  2. Select 'Cat Scratchings' from the list provided and click on 'Join Group'.
  3. Send a Private Message to one of SJ, winty or rizzo. This moderator will then grant you access based on number of posts and topics that you have posted. A random sample will be used to determine this.
Note: If non-Geelong supporters wish to apply to join, they will need a current member of The Scratching Post to vouch for them and they are required to nominate this member. Any infraction awarded to a non-Geelong supporter in The Scratching Post also is given to their sponsor.

Just an update.....not sure about US, but livesport.tv covers every game, and offers a full replay of every game throughout Europe and the UK. It also offers the AFL discussion shows from the AFL....including the mighty Giesch giving his regular excuses for poor umpiring.

Cost is cheaper than 99US, but prices for the 2013 season aren't out just yet.

DTC - We actually did get all the games this year thankfully :) in the US. Last year there we blacked out games for ESPN online coverage but this year with FOX Soccer PLUS there was no conflict and blackouts.

Thanks

JFI, red cards- how are they given and what for> How many weeks out? And yellows?
Although this link is from the vBulletin days and is in the process of being updated, and does not refer to "cards" directly, it gives you an idea of the site rules and infractions:

What if someone was to want to be pointed in the right direction of torrents.... how could that be done in a way that doesn't end up in me coping a kick up the arse?

Use a private message.

You do realise your OP says no clickable links and you post one in your second post?
