hi all i heard on the radio a couple of weeks ago that a few of the boys were going to play cricket in the geelong league somewhere... can someone please fill me in on who they are playing for?? thanks alot..

Scarlo played mixed age cricket with his dad John for a few years at Highton Cricket Club, during his early days, pretty handy I hear, loves his cricket.
 
Darren Milburn was brilliant in a GFC players vs Geelong cricket club match a couple of years ago. Think he almost won the match off his own bat that day at skilled.
 
Use to play at Jan Juc with Nathan Ablett. Handy but would not rock up for important games quite often. eg. finals
 
An "M. Stokes" was playing for Goorambat Devenish yesterday, but I don't think it would be the Mathew Stokes. :p

Bartel plays for Geelong West
Chapman and Hunt play for Newtown
Scarlett if he plays has a hit with East Belmont. East are the best side to the others are all knobs.
Bartel is pretty good at cricket to, the other guys are ok but are sloggers rather than good cricketers.

disagree with you on two points.

1) east belmont are the biggest w***ers ive ever come across on a cricket field and thats saying something because there have been some w***ers to play local cricket!

2) while bartel is a gun josh hunt is the only one out of all of them that actually has a crack at playing in the 1's for newtown and can bat a bit while bartel if he plays spends his time in the 3's or 4's having a bit of a laugh and doing just as u said, slogging!

East are a brilliant family club and are the total opposite of w***ers.
Premiership after premiership, we pick up talent from other clubs because they respect our club and we dont pay players like every other club our money goes to upgrading facilities. The only other half decent club in the GCA is Geelong West. Yes Josh Hunt has a crack in the 1sts but I watched him at East one day and good bowlers sort him out all the time cos he loves to play across the line and SLOG.
Bartel is the best out of them he was a gun junior played against him a few times and was just a cut above the rest but it was clear that footy was his preferred option. I hope you play for Newtown or Joesy cos your gonna get pumped when you play us.
 
East Belmont are the favs of the GCA as they like to suck the GCA's c*ck! They are not respected by other teams, they might have been 20 years ago, but the ego they have brought upon themselves over the past 2 decades doesn't earn respect from other clubs. They have taken over from Nth Geelong and Newtown as the clubs that other clubs love to hate. They do play players as all teams do, so stop fooling yourself. The ONE and ONLY reason why East have half decent facilities is due to the fact that the GCA base out of the rooms. In fact, the rooms use to be better before the GCA took over the clubrooms. They are now small and have terrible away rooms. Worst in the GCA. The club wont retain respect until they lose the ego and the chip on the shoulder!!

I dont mind you guys, for some reason i just hate something bout every other club but there is something to like bout west, I think its cos when we play you its always in good spirit and always a good challenge.
Ha ha the Mcdonald boys are good blokes now I have got to know them, really friendly people. Anyway all the best for the year

The only players we pay is the 1st X1 captain and the coach no one else, we dont pay for premierships, we have always relied on our junior talent to come through the grades which has happened if you look at the amount of young kids we have playing in our 1sts ansd 2nds. There is no ego at all at East just a bunch of guys who have grown up with each other at school and who enjoy smashing other teams together like the one you probably play for.
Yes the GCA did put in for the rooms and we are grateful for that but they do nothing else to support our club in terms of the grounds and the recycled water tanks and yes the away rooms might be smallish compared to others but they are'nt run down like most of the others.
Always welcome to come down for a hit whenever you get sick of losing at your club, Go East.
 
Trust me, I have some very good friends at East as I have played them many times over the years. But, I think I will stick with my club. I think I would like to stay a one club fella, not like most of the players in your 1sts. The thing is, the ego that your club carries doesn't come from your internal young players, its the players you have pick up and your old has been's that have the problem. I have payed 1sts at another GCA club for 15 years, and have never seen the same team year after year at East. Right now you seem to have a decent bunch of guys, lets hope the ego's of the past do not retrun, which I think they will.

I played at East Belmont and it's a very good club with some great stalwarts who contribute alot to making the club successful. Facilities were'nt great but I believe they might have been upgraded since I finished playing.

I played there for a few years before moving to another club in the GCA (unfortunately only a losing final in the 1st 's before leaving). Comparing both clubs I'd say there was'nt much in it. Will always have a soft spot for East - was treated very well - plus have my name up on the club awards board which keeps me interested in results since I left.
 
Does anyone know how much Andrew Fergerson is getting to play at moda. He is in his prime and must be gettin paid heaps to play in a league like that!

Cant stand players with so much ability but play in crap competitions so they can make less gifted people feel like shit when they get smacked for 20 of an over. Should be playing for Geelong, dominated GCA last year and now plays in a dump like that just for a bit of cash. Id choose a good comp and no money any day.
 
Yeh, not sure why he went to Moda!! There are a few blokes in Geelong that just chase the cash and play for 6 clubs over a period of 10 years. But, I suppose you are going to get that in all comps! The question is, how on earth has Moda pulled the money together to pay Fergs???
 
8 grand hey? Is that just signing on fee or is he getting more on top of that for performance eg. money for runs n wkts?

u probs thinking on ex east player in Matt Caufield and fergo is on 10,000 cause me bro is scott hovey and how they are gettin the money is from there sponsors and some of the blokes are chippin in....so modda will killed that league and why they got fergo and matt caufield this year cause the SLCA is goin to fold soo i heard and they modewarre are goin to put them self in the GCA probs GCA 2 if they do play next year cause there tryin to get a turf wicket out there
