I’m not going to point the finger at anyone specifically but our backline needs work:

Harry - Retired.
Kolodjashnij - Can’t be trusted.
Bews - Can’t be trusted.
Henry - Can’t be trusted.
Henderson - Running on fumes. Possibly retired.

It's a figure of speech mate, but if you must:

Selwood
Dangerfield
Hawkins
Ablett
Taylor

Some of the greatest players to play for this great club, but again it's just a figure of speech. Richmond are a champion team.

I know it’s a figure of speech. I agree they’re a champion team but I don’t agree we’re a team of champions.

They’re just a better team than us.

I might be in that old age group now, aside from a couple of screams of exasperation at the turnover kick by Kolo and Selwood's awful handball after winning the free after a centre bounce, the end result had that inevitability factor about it. Richmond's speed, ability to pick up the loose bobbling ball as it pinballed around the packs and then having Dusty was decisive.

Martin is someone who is a freak of a sportsman. I get the feeling that unlike some, he simply has no thought of failure in his mind at all. Like absolutely no inhibition, no fear of failure, and no concern for consequences. I think they were saying he had 17.2 at half time, well by game's end he's kicked 20.2 in finals in the last four years or something. 20.2!!!! And many of his goals are snaps from awkward spots and fast gathers, not Joe the Gooses or anything.

He's also been BOG in 8 of the Tiger's 10 Finals wins since 2017. It's a trait that just puts him in almost unrivalled air. I dislike his tatts and perhaps just how he looks like somewhat of a thug, but as a footballer he is a machine. Never gets injured, lifts when he's needed. Arguably he may be the greatest finals player who has ever drawn breath on this basis. Three Norms in three Flags. He is the cream which rises to the top and compliments the absolute chaos speedball the tigers play. Aesthetically it's just not what i like footy to be, it's nothing like what Geelong's glorious high-scoring skillful smashings we would do from '07-11, but there's almost been nothing to come near this footy since 2017. One Mason Cox cameo, and a drought braking loss to the Lions are the only losses from the 12 finals since 2017.

Geelong when it comes to the crunch just hasn't got the motor to match these fleet footed Tigers when the pinball flies out with the likes of Bolton, Costanza, Rioli, Pickett etc are scouting the packs. And we sadly would either fumble or just over-run or miss the footy when going for it in the packs, then a pinball bounce will see the Tigers swarm forward. Congratulations to Gaz Jr and Harry, Geelong champions for their years of service. But we need to introduce more pace in the side, there's really no other way the Tigers can be tamed unless their own self-satisfaction starts to lessen their intensity.

But i cannot be upset at the season. Finished second, beaten by a side which the record books will say is one of the all-time most successful in how they play....and really aside from that Mason Cox 1st half in the 2018 PF, they could have 4 flags in a row. And nobody really has worked out how to beat what they do in finals footy. And having a bloke who has essentially accumulated enough votes to win a post-season Brownlow in the last 4 years and kicks 20.2 in finals, well that's pretty much it. Too good the Tigers are, sad to say.
Brilliant summation.

I hope that both Simpson & Vlaustin are ok after their concussions tonight - never like seeing players go down injured

But kinda laughed at this from Swampy - after a shortened h&a season & one where quarters were reduced to 16 minutes, we end up with this in the grand final

Up until tonight they were the most frugal defence in the league. Talk about throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

We have a few issues with the side. Our defence isn't one of them.

Gotta be honest here, I love Danger and am grateful for all that he's done for our football club

But I can't help but think this chasing a flag narrative is a bit overblown.

I'm sure he'd love one as all players would but I don't think it's the be all and end all he makes it out to be for himself. Still got a very nice media career ahead of him if he wishes and I honestly think that's enough for him.

Could very well be wrong, and if anyone would like to call me out on this feel free, only speculation.

No chance they retire. Selwood will play 1 more and we just can't lose someone like him along with Gaz and H. Hendo had a resurgence and will go again. 2E will stay unless he has the desire to return to Ireland.
Not sure what Tuohy adds anymore. Flies under the radar a bit but is not a great contest player, not a great decision maker, not that bright with his positioning, and not overly courageous.

Popping in to give well wishes and commisery, it was a tough loss - as someone who's dad is a longtime cats fan and pops a longtime Tigers fan I wasnt winning either way 😅.

With Cameron and maybe Higgins coming in; with another year of drafting recruiting may well reinvigorate the list. Dont see yous dropping off anytime soon.

Was at least a good grand final to watch compared to last years romping.
Lost to a good side - definitely had a chance to win and if Danger didnt go forward most of the 3rd along with a few players having average games could well have won it.
Without delving too much into it - from my perspective Coaching changes came far too little far too late, almost a repeat of the prelim last year. Richmond are never going to roll over even when they're down.

I Nearly lost my voice cheering Menengolas goal late in the 4th - hope Simpson hasn't got any lasting damage looked brutal on screen.
I was hoping it would spur a last quarter fightback. Was tough watching Gaz unable to move his arm in the fourth took a brave effort just to stay on the field.

Anyway Congrats on making the GF and the season overall, hopefully for the old mans sake he gets to see a few more flags in his lifetime after waiting so long for the drought breaker in 07.
Good luck for next year.

If we hug the boundary line like that and slow everything down, we may as well retire all our big forwards. It was crowded in the forward line every single ******* time the ball came in.
And we allow opposition teams to apply so much pressure at half forward that often it’s a miraculous kick that even makes it into the 50. Clarkson’s “kill the shark” mantra from the 2008 GF still rings true today it would seem.

Garbage!!! They look good when the game is played on our terms but can’t defend 1 on 1.

Don't know if this is off topic but how highly is Tom Stewart rated by your supporters? One of the most composed reliable defenders i've seen and didn't make the AA team amazingly. Was odds on for the Norm Smith until you guys unfortunately ran out of steam. Unlucky Cats you guys are brutally consistent and will be at the pointy end for many years to come.

Probably would've been AA again had he not got injured, very good player and probably the bridge captain between Selwood and someone from the younger crop.

If "dynasty" is defined as a team that wins multiple premierships then almost everyone has seen loads of dynasties. The media acts like they're uncommon for some unknown reason. They're not. Pretty much every decade for the last 50 years has had *multiple* "dynasty" teams.

Most dominate team over the last 4 years. Unlucky not to win 4 on the trot. Kudos given to those who deserve it. Richmond deserves that accolade. Cheers bud

Very highly, possibly our next captain.

I’d say most Tigers supporters were despairing at half time, it felt like you guys pretty much had us on the ropes, particularly with Vlaustuin out of the game showing up some defensive shortcomings. Full respect to Geelong for showing us up in the first half particularly, easily the hardest of our recent GFs. I’d say Dusty was the difference in the end.
If you pick up Cameron & Higgins, and perhaps some moneyball trades, you are gonna to be even better and a scary prospect for all teams next year. salute!

It would be good to get a replay at full speed.

Genuinely not sure what people expect Dangerfield to do in that situation - his arm was already away from his body as he was contesting the ball (which he bumped) and then he braced for contact. It's not like he left his feet to go through bump instead of tackle

Very much like the PF last year.
They flick the switch and we drop of.

Disappointed is a understand.

Disappointing we couldn't go with them in the last was pretty even till then.

we stopped in the last, couldn’t handle them. The first half had so many missed opportunities. Was gutted at the ground.....oh well.

He copped a lot of shit after the QF.
He's always been our best and most reliable defender the last 3-4 seasons. If he must play full back, I have much more faith in him than anyone else we have on the list right now.
For his lack of height, he certainly makes up for it in other areas taller players cannot.
