There seems to be a few who cant crack it into the team over at the cattery.Would you think the club would be interested in any of the following:

Shannon Byrnes
Ryan Gamble
Nathan Djuekerra(?)

I would love the club to have a crack at Gamble if we cant snare Mckinley?
I know Tom Lonergan was also mentioned previously but i dont think they will let him go.
What do you guys think.

Nathan Djerrkura all the way.

Quality small forward excitement machine, faster than a speeding bullet, great skills, goal sense and fantastic in the wet. Geelong's 2nd round pick in the 2006 (Gibbs) 'super' draft, and yet still behind their plethora of small forwards in the pecking order and hasn't managed to crack a game in 2 seasons. One particular wet weather pre-season game stands out for me in which he would have almost been BOG!!

I've been banging his drum for a while now and would be surprised if we didn't make any enquiries about him during trade week (IMO would be great value trade if a deal could be done for our 3rd or 4th round pick and with Geelong's ever tightetning salary cap we wouldn't have to offer him much to tempt him).

Gamble, while he has shown some good signs is only 184cm but is good overhead and plays tall, making him another potential 3rd tall. As I've stated in another thread (Re: Boyle) we are in need of a second tall, not another third tall.

Totally agree on Djerrkura. Don't think has been setting the world on fire in the VFL which is a little worry but someone who should be looked at for some speed in the forward 50.

Saw a bit of him at school level when he played for Scotch, was fantastic and Geelong getting him at 26, for me, was a great pick-up. They got Selwood at 8, Djerrkura at 26 and Hawkins at 42, basically two top 5 picks and a top 20 (was roughly may rating at the time).

I'd offer a third rounder, ideally fourth but don't think the Cats would take it.

Really enjoy reading your player assessments. Really hate pumping up your tyres so often. There's a difference between admiration and cyber-crush you know. Something about the vibe. Anyway, keep writing eloquently on these blokes, I can't wait to see who will be running out in navy blue next season. :thumbsu:

Don't worry, can't happen to often, I don't watch any U18, very little VFL (as of this year because I now have some genuine Navy Blue victories to watch) but watch prob all NAB Cup games (after withdrawls all summer long) and 75-80% of Home & Away season games.

Oh I do know -apparently there's something wrong with me because my feeling towards Carlton players is totally platonic, I never need tissues when watching us play...

Definitely need a beer tho -watching Carlton play without one would be like like reading BF Carlton with no posts from Tigs

LeCras? ;)

I'd also have a crack at Travis Varcoe as well. Gamble and Djurkerra would also be great additions.

I'm sure a few other clubs would be sniffing around Skilled Stadium as well.

Doubt they'll be trading Gamble anytime soon.

Varcoe is a decent player, but i'd much rather us draft a faster smaller forward, or one in the ilk of a Lappin, Williams, Ebert, Gray.

just in case you guys dont konw, djkerra seemed to have been cursed ever since he got drafted. has been suffering from bit of quad issues so thats why he hasnt been able to hit his straps.

Then it's straight to Germany for him after trade week ;)

Well he went to Geelong under an injury cloud - a foot injury IIRC. Still, with the amount of talent at Geelong, and some good players that miss out fairly regularly, they may very well look elsewhere.

I know nothing of Djuekerra (sp) but do you think pick 40 could get it done? The other worry of this is we don't want to offload all of our picks, last years draft netted us Kreuzer, Browne and Army. The three of these blokes managed several senior games. Not a bad return.

i'd probably prefer lonergan (2-3 goal fev foil) but like you say probably won't let him go. byrnes is shite, apparently... they won't let go of gamble. DJ wouldn't be a bad get, if he's fit.

From what I'm reading, Lonergan gets the Fisher treatment over on the Cat's Board. And mostly not in a good way.

strike me as different players. lonners leads more out of the square, fisher's up the ground.
but i have it worked out...

fev - #1
lonergan - fev foil
fisher - lonergan foil
kruezer - fisher foil
cam cloke - kreuzer foil

it's all falling into place.

Hartlett - aluminium foil ??? ..... well his hamstrings at least

sounds about right, you know you can never unwrinkle aluminium foil once it's wrinkled.

that or delistation foil for edwards. or vice versa. tough to get rid of both.

Myth. Bring up a pic of wrinkled foil on your computer. Apply a very hot iron across the screen for 5 or 6 minutes. You will notice the wrinkles have disappeared. :thumbsu:

I get the impression Vegas is pretty highly rated at Geelong and would not have a seat at the trade table. Same goes for Hawkins.

Not interested in Burns.

Don't know much about Durka Durka other than I think he just pipped Wiggo in the GF sprint, so he's not exactly greased lightning.

Pay that! :thumbsu:

Interested in Nathan D. Not in the least bit interested in Byrnes, Tenace OR Lonergan. Don't think Gamble will be goiing anywhere and not too fussed about him anyway. We're much better off looking to this draft for a forward or two than bringing in Geelong rejects just quietly. ;)
