Geelong rorting the system

Hawks and Blues are facts!
I was there and lived it, experienced it.
The football community discussed both cases for years with certain suspicion something was awry.
Sydney even put Carltons cap cheating on a run through banner at Princes Park, that’s how obvious it was.
Everyone couldn’t believe the Hawks had a stronger team than state teams of that era.

And it’s very similar to what vibe Geelong is putting out now.
Everyone suspects it, the league did nothing then as they are doing nothing now.

You don’t have to answer if you’re going to be a tosser, just ignore it
Oh blues and hawks are facts. Oh ok no argument with that. Not sure what that has to do with Geelong.

Just the vibe? Ok mate.

Bikies are the link between speed/meth, gym drugs, and Bomber Thompson. Collingwood has more PED strikes than Geelong, because someone put steroids in Lachie Keefe and Ben Kennedy's cocaine.

What Dank said is largely unknown, selections were released to emphasise Hird as the criminal mastermind. We don't know everything he said, we know what the AFL decided to release.

Hird was a dumb arrogant campaigner. Its very implausible he created this program. Someone did. he story has been cooked up. There's a list of possible ingredients. Maybe it was me, from my secret lair? Occams Razor suggest Bomber is the crux, but he got a token slap.

There has definitely been PED use in the league, just very few strikes, because if you know what you're doing chemically, and the League doesn't really want to know, then its pretty easy to escape detection.
Tenuous, but at least your bikies link allows a tale of no records I suppose. Maybe the players were brought to an underground lair for supplementation. It wouldn't surprise me if Dank was Walter White's inspiration.

You can dismiss by dismissiveness but my position of doubt is hardly illogical.

“certain suspicion”!

Love it. It’s a bit like that bloke in the anchorman movie, describing the power of his Cologne. - “60% off the time, it works every time”

How would you phrase it then?

The suspicion was proven correct eventually, people were certain in their theories but had no actual evidence.
Very much like today’s football community and the Geelong contract payments being about 80 cents on the dollar compared to industry standard.
Player managers are not going to accept less when dealing with their best potential yields, so the money is coming from somewhere!

The vibe Geelong is putting out now has attracted 2 - 3 if you count a 34 year old Ablett returning home on compassionate grounds with a bunged up shoulder - All Australians in a decade of footy.

That’s the shadow you are jumping at. This is why Cats fans laugh at this stuff. What are we doing? We signed Dangerfield. Ok, huge signing. 11 seasons ago. On the back of a dozen All Australians retiring in the preceding 4-5 years.

We signed Cameron 5 years ago. Again, on the back of more retirements in the preceding period, and since. Taylor, Ablett etc.

Then we signed Smith, who while I’m sure he cost a bit, has never achieved anything in the game before last week.

That’s it.

Everyone else we’ve brought in has been a has been, a never was, or a fringe or role player.

Stanley, Henderson, Dalhaus, Tuohy, Henry, Bruhn, Bowes, Caddy, Crameri, Stengle, Martin, Smith. These guys aren’t superstars. They’re no different to the hundreds of players that have changed hands between other clubs year after year.

We cop shit because we are old every season. There’s a reason we are often old - because we often are. Which means we often have players retiring. We will lose another few this year no doubt with Duncan set to go and maybe Stanley who knows, maybe Cam Guthrie. Hawkins went last year. Selwood after 2022. We don’t keep paying players a salary when they retire.

We also get told regularly how big the gaps are in our list. ‘You have no good youth. Your midfield is garbage. Where are your key defenders. Your ruckmen are awful.’ Well ok so where is all our money going then. People can’t have it both ways. Either we are stacked with superstars and we have this incredible list, or we have a couple and the rest of the side is actually a lot better than people give it credit for but aren’t necessarily getting paid stupid wages

Smith was a known quality- would be on over a million anywhere else.
It’s the retention as well - other clubs lose players because of offers from other clubs, except Geelong who still manage to keep them on 80% of market value.
You can’t get away from the general consensus that something is going on.
I’m just stating that I’ve experienced this prior and it’s occurring now with your team.
Your no different to Carlton supporters of the 90’s

Collingwood paying Perryman more than what Bailey Smith is getting is just unreal. Lesser clubs continue to mismanage their salary cap time and time again. It's the only way they can attract recruits.

Among a busy Trade Period at the AIA Centre last October, the acquisition of Giants free agent Harry Perryman on a six-year deal worth around $900,000 per season was certainly among the splashiest of the Magpies' moves.

Smith had never made an AA side and had not kicked a ball in 18 months. And again, he was the third big name player in a decade. To listen to the smooth brains we are picking the eyes out of the AA starting line up every off season.

We don’t need to lose players to other clubs raiding them because no other club has had as many gun players simply, you know, not play any more, as we have over the last 14 seasons. Even before that we lost Matthew Egan to a career ending injury just as he was announced as the AA centre half back.
Stephen King goes to St Kilda. Tom Harley, AA player and two time flag captain retires. Brad Ottens an AA ruck and three time flag player retires. Mooney an AA forward retires. Milburn an AA defender retires. Ling an AA mid/tagger and flag captain retires. Ablett goes to the Suns the first time. Matthew Scarlett retires. Travis Varcoe goes to Collingwood. Max Rooke retires. Gee I bet those losses freed up no money. Oh wait we tell Chapman and Johnson they’re no longer required. And that Bartel can either play elsewhere or retire. Oh and Joel Corey retires. Oh hang on then Corey Enright retires. And Tom Lonergan.

No I bet we didn’t free up any money there. We kept paying all of them.

Sorry mate
I can see you pleading your case however public consensus is the club is cheating somehow.
Every conversation I have or hear, how are they getting away with it.
Mates my age, I’m nearly 60, have seen so much it’s history repeating itself.
Just relax, go along for the ride and pray they win as many flags as possible before it ends.
The Bombers were unstoppable for all of Sheedy’s reign, they got caught in 93’ but where are they?
Same as the Blues with their millionaires back in the day.
Unfortunately Collingwood have never mastered it, we nearly went broke in the early 80’s trying it.
Could have had over 20 flags by now

Oh well if public consensus from people who can’t be bothered actually putting thought into it says it, it must be true. Case closed.

10/10 for comedy value.

I don't even know who you are.

Someone who thinks that adding Bailey Smith and Jack Martin the year after Tom Hawkins, Zach Tuohy retire and Brandon Parfitt and Gary Rohan are delisted is proof of guilt but adding a two time All Australian from Port Adelaide, a three time club leading goalkicker from St Kilda, a first choice defender from GWS, at the cost of John Noble and Nathan Krueger into a squad that won a flag two seasons ago is not going to raise eyebrows.

Sounds like an A-grade moron but maybe we should give him the benefit of the doubt.

Come on, Collingwood are currently in the middle of a final, stop thinking about Geelong for a couple of hours and try enjoy yourself.
You’re a wise fella 👍🏼
I pretty much know the big one to switch on to will be the preliminary if there
That’s the modern finals system

You guys know as well as us, consistently competitive

I do hope you read your post later and realise that is exactly what the football community is referencing.
All the other clubs pay market value.
Geelong don’t somehow!

The funny thing is, Geelong have had an amazing run since 2004.
But they are still mediocre over the 150 year journey.
Collingwood have been competitive all the way through out their history, consistently giving their fans a good game.
An amazing record

How many other teams would give anything to have played in nearly 50 grand finals, numerous preliminaries

What a team to support
