Geelong rorting the system

You know, I don't know if people are putting 2 and 2 together yet on our new, upcoming rort.

It's actually quite devious.

What's Geelong's biggest list gap? No ruck between Stanley's retirement and Edwards bulking up. What's Geelong's biggest strength? Fast, high endurance players off the ball.

Where are rucks useful? Stoppage mostly

What if there was a rule change we could plug and play from a state league where it was shown to dramatically reduce the number of stoppages and directly lead to faster more attacking play, which would also increase the value of fast off-ball players while diminishing the value of ruckman?

"Yeah, it's me. Stage 2 of rule manipulation is a go. Time to rug pull ruckman"

Hocking goes from General Manager of football of Geelong straight to General Manager of the AFL and chief rule changer then gets sacked because he says he wants to leave and go back to Geelong as CEO.
How is that not corruption and a rort?

So ****ing true. We got no ruck stocks, so we are removing ruck contests.

Why is Geelong advocating getting rid of the father and son rule? You got Ablett, Scarlett and Hawkins but now there's nothing coming through so you want the rule scrapped.

I agree with you, Aristotle — you’ve got us all figured out. You’re the only one wearing the glasses and truly seeing it, but no one is listening.

I know, it must be infuriating and frustrating.

Because it lacks any corruption and rort (and is incorrect, too).

Lost in all this theorising, btw, is that one of Hocking's first moves as General Manager was to take away his own power to change the rules. Instead, the Competition Committee was reduced to an advisory role only. It also changed to ensure that only current players and coaches could be a part of it, not past ones.

He handed over responsibility for the Laws of the Game to the AFL Commission and Executive in order to remove any potential for bias.

You're on a roll here, AP.

I honestly don't know if there's evidence for this, but I do know that Chris Scott called for it to be scrapped in what the media described as a "tongue in cheek" answer. He went on to say: "“I’m not sure what my position is, except to say that I am very aware of how bizarre the rule is and in a highly equalised competition".

So hang on are you saying he got sacked or wanted to leave? Because you said both in literally the same sentence there.

He wanted to leave but to stay on as AFL general manager until the end of the year. The AFL said you're not staying on to the end of the year, you're leaving now because you have accepted a job back at Geelong and you're meant to represent all clubs not Geelong.
So they sacked him for conflict of interest.

Mate, he literally took a CEO role. No one "fails up" to a CEO level position

Congrats to the Cats on the flag, the next two weeks is a victory lap for them.

Best coach, only club to treat players like adults with flexible hours (just ask them), really cruisy captain who is at pains to explain how cool and relaxed he is. There's no other team in the league who does this according to them. Well done and congrats.

Are you annoyed?

So they negotiated his departure date? He said “later” and they said “sooner”?
Big whoop!
Is that your smoking gun? lol.
It surprised the AFL that he showed a complete lack of integrity and tried it on. He was given his marching orders. That's the facts.

BigVic is that you?

But I thought you said there was corruption ... not a scrupulous avoidance of it.
As for theprospector = are you sure you're in the right thread? Maybe start here:

The point here is that Hocking showed a complete lack of ethics and integrity which is alarming as he was changing the rules of the game.
