For all of Geelong’s dominance and home advantages over the last 15 years, they have only managed to win 2 GFs.
I always maintain that they’ve butchered some opportunities. I don’t care what any Richmond fan says, they let it go in 2019. They fluffed the QF, Hawkins the idiot got himself rubbed out for being really dumb, then they were right in it in the PF.

2013 as well. They had a good lead on Hawthorn in the PF.

Then in 2020 they let Martin run riot with Dangerfield stuck at FF.

Even in 2017; dropping Menzel for Guthrie.

People will say they’ve run into amazing teams; Hawthorn, Richmond and now Brisbane. But seriously, the lack of competitiveness against Brisbane was so out of character. I can’t remember Geelong having that bad a day in a long time.

Geelong can rort until the cows come home but as this past weekend showed... good always triumphs over evil.

Brisbane who brought in more players through trade and free agency, who spent years in the doldrums picking up first rounders, Father sons and academy picks for basically nothing while having their former boss head to the AFL, proceed to shut the door behind him on anyone else benefiting from it are the “good guys”

And yet this team who drafted a bunch of guys with extremely low picks and had to find guys at the back end of the draft, develop them and turn them into good players are the “bad guys”?

Make it make sense?
Surely if you looked at Brisbane’s list and Geelong’s list you wouldn’t think Geelong is way over while Brisbane is way under?

Brisbane drafting all of their top liners still doesn't make Geelong using farm ackerage + Cotton On franchises for "payments" as the good guys...

QLD academies are there to develop the game.

A point I would argue is with so many from Melbourne relocating to QLD over the past 5 or so years, that should naturally increase junior participation rates up there.

So, maybe the academy needs to be revised further.
Just going off the Wikipedia participation rates the number of juniors in the QLD system is nearly overtaking South Australia

Geelong has the most games played by FS players of any club in the league. Big a big margin.

So in reality it’s…Geelong rort the FS for decades and win flags off the back of it, benefit more than any club in the league…as soon as the FS retire and there is no benefit, complain that it’s unfair.

Clinical.

Chris really is a genius.

‘I don’t want it to sound like complaining, but the father son rule is really not what we want in our game is it?’

I didn’t say it’s unfair? Where did I say the word “unfair”
Brisbane are just playing by the rules that are presented to them. Fair play…what is rubbish is to make the changes now pushed by Swann AFTER the Lions paid nothing to bring in gun players.
It’s not in any way the Lions fault, just extremely coincidental…

What I’m saying why is no one pointing out Brisbane’s salary cap and instead focus on Geelong?

Geelong had zero father sons or academy kids in their team on the weekend, and no one in their right mind would look at Geelong’s list and think “cap busting” and look at Brisbane’s and say “Wow look at all that cap space”

Because we’re not openly rorting. We don’t live in a small farming community where we can carve out plots of land for cents on the dollar.

Genuinely who is openly rorting? Like legit what is the “rort” you are suggesting?

The reason your club was audited this year was because dumb dumb Oliver told Melbourne officials about Geelong’s offer not realising what he was telling the Melbourne officials. And Melbourne immediately went to the AFL.
