Geelong vs pies final should not be at the mcg.

Geelong get 9 games with an actual home advantage. No other vic club gets that.

Amd what Vic based club gets all 11 home games at their preferred home venue?

Tigers, Pies and Hawks are forced to play "home" games at Etihad. Dees hated Etihad so much they now play "home" games in the NT.

So? Cats fans aren’t sitting here telling you you shouldn’t be able to host games at your home ground and that having games at your home ground when you are assigned home games is somehow the league ‘giving’ you anything are we.

Plenty of Cats fans think having 9 games with a distinct home advantage is unfair...it is a better scenario than all other Victorian teams.

The league dictates HA and finals fixtures based on stadium contracts that are in place.

When there is a 100k stadium up the road, always going to play finals there.

Again, just for the people at the back, it is not our fault that a place in the world, is where it is. If you have a problem with sharing your home ground? Fantastic, good for you, and to be honest, I do not care. Have a problem with it. But until Melbourne teams are prepared to either play at another venue that they don’t share, or move to a location that is not located within Melbourne, they can tell their Geelong story walking. So can interstate fans.

The notion that Newcastle are somehow advantaged in the NRL because they play games…… drumroll please……in Newcastle….would be laughed at

The quicker the intellectual equivalency of the spewtum that floats around the bowl of a public toilet can compute this, the quicker they can stop with the frankly f***en demented accusations that by allowing a team to play less than half their home games at their home ground, are being given anything

Geelong also get a minimum of 5 of their supposed "away" games at the same venue....the G.

Excuse us for not buying the crap that Geelong fans are selling.

Yes you should be thankful.

You get at least three times as many opportunities to play at the G than other non Melbourne teams.
Which is completely irrelevant to the fact they don't get all their home games at home.

Playing both at the G would give the biggest overall crowd.

But the AFL has contracts in place that require the Swans prelim to be at the SCG and the Cats prelim at the MCG.
The AFL had contracts in 2004 that required Brisbane to 'host' Geelong in a prelim at the MCG. It was a farce then and everyone knew it, the contracts were redone immediately and it'll never happen again.

So what. Do you think we want or like that? Should we be grateful?

Oh thank you so much for allowing us to play MCG teams at the MCG.
Most non-Melbourne teams (and even the Dockland teams) would fall over themselves to get 5+ games at the G each year.

Geelong have more games with an actual home advantage than any Melbourne club, and also get 5+ "away" games at the G, which again is more than most teams.

Easiest H&A fixture going.

It is clubs like StK or WB who should be complaining about having finals at the G, as they rarely play more than 2 games a year there.

But they get the stadium contract and that it would be silly to lock out potentially 40k fans from a finals game.

It is only a few noisy Cat fans who falsely think they are entitled to "home" finals.

I couldn’t give a f*** about home finals I’m talking about the notion that we are ‘given’ something by the AFL because we host less home games than every other side.

I don’t care what Melbourne teams get. Stiff shit for being in Melbourne. A consequence of - wait for it - geography, is it not?

So what about the consequence of our geography? We aren’t a Melbourne team, so why is it ‘lucky’ or ‘being given something’ to have home games at………………………………..

Home.

Yes I’m sure all of Sydney, GWS, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Port, Adelaide, West Coast, Fremantle, and even the yet to actually exist Tasmanian team would, to quote you, ‘fall over themselves’ to have two of their home games shifted to the MCG against an actual tenant of the MCG.

Every year we read these big blow ups from thousands of disgruntled fans of those sides, urging the AFL to force them to move two home games to the MCG to face Collingwood, Richmond, Melbourne or Hawthorn.

I remember distinctly John Longmire coming out last year and saying, and I quote ‘This is yet another example of bias against the interstate clubs. I rang Gil myself and called him a c*** because all we are asking for is respect. We want to host Collingwood in Melbourne.’

Hello. Non Cats fan here who believes a home team should play home finals at their home ground.

Get stuffed. Geelong needs to deal with it. Geelong are gifted everything and have the biggest advantage in the league. The last club to talk about any advantages is Geelong. You lot have been given everything every year. Biggest advantage in the AFL.

It's played at the MCG. Don't like it well ask the league to play more games at the MCG during the year instead of that rabble of a ground in Geelong.
It stays at MCG.

Deal with it
Wow! A West Coast supporter happy with the Grand Final at the MCG

Spoilt. They want the premiership gifted to them. More so then what is already given to them. They get the biggest advantage in the league and want more. Bunch of spoilt entitled sooks there supporter base. If anything Geelong shouldnt be getting so many games down in Geelong. 4 games max should only be allowed. Rest of there home games should be played at the MCG.
Four games for West Coast in Perth too. You wouldn't want to be advantaged.

Every final should be played at the Rungrado 1st of May Stadium in Pyongyang, North Korea. It seats 150k and is the biggest capacity stadium in the world. It's an absoloute joke that the tiny little cricket circle in Melbourne gets all the big finals.

Is this still a live topic? Is it still discussing the Collingwood final or are Geelong supporters now claiming their Prelim Final should be played at KP too?

C'mon! The venue is currently a construction site!

The shit thing about their prelim is it is scheduled on a Friday evening which means a lot of supporters from the Western Districts won't attend. But you can't have a prelim in a 20k venue. No way!

You and GWS played more games at the MCG this season than 3 Victorian clubs and the other 6 interstate sides. Quite an indictment on this joke of a league both of you had more games there than WB. They at least made the 8.

If Geelong realistically want KP to be there home ground in finals they will have to expand the ground to at least 60k. Geelong the AFL and Geelong council need to work that out. Right now a 36k capacity crappy suburban ground doesn't cut it so cats supports stop sooking about it. Will never happen until your ground can fit 60k capacity crowds and that's the minimum requirement for finals home games. Deal with it

On top of that if they want a 60k stadium it be under the condition that they would also be required to share the ground with at least another club. Likely it will also become Western Bulldogs home ground in the future

That way it makes sense.
Out of the 8 Vic Clubs
Collingwood MCG
Richmond MCG
Essendon Marvel
Saints Marvel
Geelong KP
Bulldogs KP
Kangas merge to become Tasmania
Hawks share Tasmania home ground with MCG

Even spread of home grounds amongst Vic clubs.

That’s the minimum requirement for finals home games? Someone better tell the 10 current sides not called Geelong who are based at grounds without a 60,000 capacity.

It sounds like you have researched this really well

We have to protect those precious MCC and AFL members who take up half the MCG.

Marvel Stadium size would be the requirement for finals. Just above 50k. 60k ideally is what's required.

Geelong are within 40 minutes of 100k capacity MCG and 50k capacity Marvel. They will never get a home final with a low small 36k capacity. It's not even close. Home finals is all to do with capacity of the grounds per state.

Swans SCG is 48k.
GWS home finals play at the SCG.
They would never be allowed to play at there rabble Manuka Oval for finals

Gabba is 42k but given they are in another state and that's the biggest venue up there. Isn't much they can do.
Suns home ground for finals is the Gabba not Metricon.

Its not that hard to understand. In future stadium builds the AFL will be looking at 60k as a minimum capacity and due to how much that would cost they would probally make the Bulldogs home to be included with Geelongs if a new stadium was ever built Geelongs way becoming a two team shared stadium
