Given we were $7.75 to win & Hawks paying $1.02, my guess is the AFL had a lot to lose if we caused the upset....

No proof he even follows the Hawks and if his form is poor he will be dropped. I'm unsure the afl planned to have any umpire gift them goals. They said it wrong. Not sure what else they do unless they have the ability to see things in advance

Can you explain that? The bookies win either way. The punter loses either way. Are you saying the afl always try to make sure favourites win. Also why would the afl care who wins and loses money?

You know what they say.... better than bank interest. You really think the AFL doesn't heavily invest in games such as these when they have every piece of form, strategy & intimate knowledge of the clubs at their disposal?

No. It would never happen. Like Whispers in the Sky never happened, or siren gate or Barry Hall punching Goose in play, or the AFL trying to manipulate the Essendon drug saga, or sweeping the fact that a Hawk supporting umpire deliberately favoured his team when they may lose.

12. First year I started following AFL with any real interest. Found out the hard way what it means to be a St Kilda supporter haha. I guess the benefit was I wasn't overly crushed when we lost.

See, this I agree with. They are just completely incompetent and it's disgraceful. The fallout of just letting rubbish umpires go unpunished are these conspiracy theorists but, hey, if the AFL want to pretend like nothing's wrong then maybe they deserve this

I'm pretty sure I know a fair bit and I know you would never be able to place a million dollar bet in Australian let alone 10 million without some serious questions being asked. I also know that these types of bets only have lose once in 50 games to be at the best level and it lost twice on 50 games you are down 10 million dollars. It's beyond hilarious to even contemplate it happening

No one person walks into anywhere & puts $1mil on anything, unless your name is Harry Findlay or Sean Bartholomew

Most professional punters have scouts that will put money on for them. Have enough scouts & you could easily have over $10mil on a game across the 20+ betting agencies in Australia.

Anyway thats enough from me on this topic. I'm not gonna sway you, & i'm not gonna be swayed either.
