That was my point Snake.

My take on the situation is that some time within the next 12 months unless Boyd makes a substantial improvement, the Doggies and Boyds management will agree to a amendment/cancellation of the contract and a payout.

The punch up and a "perceived" lack of effort especially if its supported by the leadership group of the players would make it hard for Liam Pickering to threaten court action and still be a player manager that the clubs would deal with in the future.
Obviously the Dogs were stupid for ever offering that amount of money in the first place.
And i think Pickering is a bit of a grub.
Good luck to them and their upcoming shit fight:p

Contracts can be re-negotiated, but if both parties don't agree to the new terms, it's business (or existing contract) as usual.

From memory I read some years back that the CBA between the players and AFL forbids renegotiating a contract on terms less favourable to the player. It was a long time ago that I read that, but that's my recollection.

The real question is What the hell has happened to Tom Boyd? A clear number one pick them thought he was at trade time, was that all just potential? Was he ever really good at GWS?

I assume that he'll take a while, big man and all. I hope the doggies have patience. Hard to be patient when the wage is so high.

I wouldn't be surprised if both parties want to restructure the contract, Boyd certainly doesn't need the pressure at this stage, and the bulldogs aren't that kind of club, there will be resentment from the playing group, who seem at best indifferent to him.

Oh well I sympathise, but happy to leave it for doggies fans to cry about. Hope it doesn't totally screw their club, but it doesn't look good for them.

AFLPA would be all over it as well.

Doesn't set a good precedent.

I'd love him to kick a HUGE bag in the coming weeks (like, say, against the Kangas ;) ), just to keep the Doggies dangling on the hook... And then to go back to doing bugger all! :D

As many have stated, the Dogs are 100% stuck with Boyd's contract. There's been a bit of an overreaction to his current form and his ability. He's got everything with exception of competitiveness and mongrel (very similar to a young Jack Watts in that regard). That might come with experience but it may not... even in the TAC Cup he wasn't a super competitive unit.

There is no way that Boyd & his management would or should enter into any renegotiation. The only discussion they might enter into is if the Dogs decide to trade Boyd (which would be the end of Gordon as Chairman of the Dogs).

They're stuck with each other for the next 4 years in all likelihood.

Poor Sam Skinner, tapped to make his debut this week for Brisbane after fighting back from an ACL in his draft year, has hyperextended his knee at final training.

Got to feel for the kid, it would be absolutely shattering.

On the plus side, he's got support... I hear Bevo's addressing it in his next presser...

"I know somebody and they cry for you.."

Well I'll be buttered on both sides, a somewhat positive piece from the muppet himself

Ch 10 news said Doggies stayed overnight in Geelongo_O

Probably not too many frequent flyer points in that trip.

Sure there is, arrive in 10mins, circle the place for 6 hours, land at the airport, charter a helicopter and then fly them in 2 by 2 and look forlorn when Boydy doesn't reach for his wallet.

But it's OK because Gordons got this!

Also, Dogs will get back and their hubcaps will be gone, just saying.

Been looking around all day for him.

Up Malop Street; down Moorabool Street. Along the Waterfront and Eastern Beach.

Alas no sightings of the Boyd Roid [emoji22]

Was guessing they'd be at the Mercure which I can see from my office. Brought a Saints cap to put on and smile at anyone I saw. No luck, figure they stayed inside, a little cold down here and wouldn't want those tears to freeze on their cheeks........

Rhys Stanley's taking some decent marks and putting his head over the ball early. That usually means that an injury is imminent.
