we'll make the 8 for sure, Bombers will drop out. Got 4 of the bottom 5 teams left. we'll beat Port this week lose to 1 of the bottom 2 and get on a roll at the end just like 2018. Saints, Dogs and Bombers are the 3 of the 4 teams in the 8 we have left after Thursday all 3 are 50/50 plus the Pies who are beatable. GWS are **** all.
So we'll go
3 of 5 of the teams in the 8
3 of 4 of bottom 5
beat GWS=10 wins happy days

forgot i had to be a miserable campaigner and take every negative i can out of everything. we've lost to the 2nd and 3rd team by a combined 7 points. supposedly cherry ripe fitness wise with Burgess. have 1 of the easiest draws left. if we had the bombers game already we'd have won and be sitting 1/2 a game out the 8 and campaigners are already writing us off. **** smoking meth either ya ****

AFL ratings has our starting mid set up as being in the top 11 players for the year WTF

Probably goes to show those 4 have been carrying the team all year

I think it also shows how flawed having a gameplan that relies exclusively on midfield dominance is. I thought Brisbane's midfield schooled us and then we don't really have a plan B

And yet we still almost won

Let's be honest most teams don't have a plan b

Or alternatively they should scrap their current rating system and start again.

Petracca and Gawn and potentially in the top 11 players this year

The other two (Oliver and Viney) wouldn't look out of place in the top 30

But the 5th best player from our team on this years form would be lucky to be in the top 100

I agree with you ratings more ♥️

I think it's actually a great concern that our starting mids are doing too much of the lifting and not bringing others into the game.

Harmes/Brayshaw/Salem are the main losers of this. We need more variation in the bounces. I think Goody is liking giving these 3 big minutes in there together as he's trying to build some chemistry that we were really lacking last year due to injuries/preseason/blah blah. They are building chemistry for sure in there, but I wonder if that's the best mix at all times.

I actually get excited watching Bennell hang off a contest these days. It's weird.

That is very accurate. Speculative who the next best would be.

May? His figures would be heavily skewed by stepping outside the goal square taking lockouts. Has had some very good moments but some howlers.

Fritsch? He has kicked 10.10 averaging 9 disposals a game- just over 2 touches a quarter.

Salem? God no.

Lever? God damn no.

Hibberd? Missed a couple of games but has been solid the others.

Melksham? Has had less impact than Fritsch.

Brayshaw? ****ing lol.

Langdon? Averaging 20 disposals a game, 400m gained a match, but if he fell out of a boat he would miss water.

Harmes? Has looked bog average all year, baffling why he was played as a defender for a few matches. Could understand half forward or wing.

We should just put the main 4 blokes out there, and 14 traffic cones.

Langdon would probably best next in line somewhere

IIRC that’s literally exactly what the ratings sai last week. Pickett is our fifth highest ranked player, and he’s the lowest fifth ranked player of any team

Just had a listen to the new 'No Merger' podcast. It'll aim to unravel the full story about the failed Melbourne-Hawthorn merger. Pretty interesting opening episode with an excerpt from 'Urge to Merge'. I'd definitely recommend listening to it. Spotify link here.

Need to be shifting heaven and earth to try and get either Zac Williams or Josh Kelly in over the next two years. Have SFA to trade for either of them except our 2021 first rounder and whatever scraps we could get for underperformers like Brayshaw or Salem, but if we're not making ourselves a big free agency player for these two we've lost it. Obviously they're the types everyone wants and everyone will be in on it but for a club like ours that's either in or coming into the peak of its list and missing a star like that we should make this our #1 priority bc we aren't going anywhere without some class and run in the middle. If we still can't win a flag after that, so be it.

We only chase KPD's that are overpaid and underperform around here!

Love hearing the 'experts' talk about the demons as if 2019 never existed. Nathan Brown said he likes the dees and that the dees and port both score freely. I suppose he's saying it for his gambling company so may not count but we certainly haven't been scoring freely.

Cornes had us in his list as tesms that can win the premiership but then again it's cornes so maybe he's just trying to be a bit left field.

The other one is Brayshaw is not getting enough game time for such a talented player. Nothing against Brayshaw but I don't think he's as talented as perceived. He had a solid season in 2018 but he's currently being played out of position.

I’m cautiously optimistic after the past 3 weeks and felt less enraged by the loss to Brissy than I have for quite some time (and there are plenty of losses to pick from).

There are still plenty of issues to work through: outside run, ball use, inside 50 pressure, structure etc. However, there are steps in the right direction. Gawn, Oliver and Viney are playing much more effectively than almost all of 2019 and the first four matches of 2020.

A loss to Port tonight probably tears a hole in Finals aspirations but a good point to start from is having a team that gives consistent output each week.
