Do you guys not rate Fritsch or do you need to see him back 2021 up first? I just see so many posts that has him as roughly your 7th best player but he seems like your most important imo
Very important. Only behind about five all-australians, and a few other midfielders, forwards, defenders. He's in our Top 15 certainly, maybe Top 10.

What a ******* legend.

Built a Melbourne Demons team that won a grand final by their biggest margin ever while the CEO of the league is holding crisis talks with the president over his lifestyle, just makes me love him even more.

Sign him up for life.
“What would Toump say…” has become a guiding principle in my life.
The above perfectly demonstrates why.

A presenter on local radio suggested Glen Bartlett spilled his guts.

Fritta may not be our best player, but he's number 2 in my heart.
Glen Bartlett turned out to be one of the most misogynistic, shallow and sexist people involved in football, certainly at our club.

The whisper in 2020 was Bartlett wanted to move Goodwin on, which after 2020 on field was justified. Unfortunately for Glen, Goodwin was heavily endorsed by not only the rest of the board members, but the playing group as well.

I haven't read the article in full, but have some small info regarding some points.

On the topic of Goodwin and players drinking at the pub, the playing group actually invited Goodwin for a few beers after hearing about his marriage breaking down. The playing group knew of this month's before the media reported on it. Think about that as an endorsement.

I can't comment on any bullying allegations but I've mentioned in here before about how relieved a large majority at the club were when Bartlett was moved on.

I do chuckle watching Toump Ass reel in a few on the main board.

Doggies fans hate him!
It amazes me. It’s OTT funny trolling and I have no idea how people read it otherwise. There are some sensitive souls amongst that group

It's perfectly pitched at that board's intellectual level, like how the Herald Sun is written for a year 8 level education. Dude knows his audience.

I actually have no idea what Goody is like as a bloke, the playing group clearly love him though which is fantastic, but I like how he's gone through some problems in life and has come out the other side, nobody is squeaky clean, everyone goes through crap, and that's what makes a person. Sucks for him that this has come out in the media again, but seems a non issue amongst the club now, dude delivered us our first flag in 57 years, he's a legend.

Not many teams have a 60 goal a year forward anymore. He has to be in your top 5 over someone?
FWIW Cats have two forwards who averaged more goals than Fritsch over the H&A season and their team still sucks, takeaway from that is that forwards aren't really that important in winning games any more.

Midfielders are obviously much more important to a team I think you can make a strong argument that defenders are more important than forwards too.

Yes we've got one disgruntled ex employee Goodwin must be a monster behind the scenes.

If his behavior was a genuine problem the club would have turfed him, except they got rid of the club doctor (Including a six figure payout) and Bartlett instead. Coming into this year his job was on a knifes edge, you really think poor behavior from him would have been glossed over and we'd willingly sack other people instead?
I don’t know how you got that from what I said lol

I get that I just think regardless of PR you don't pay someone $100k+ for a bit of a tif at work.
Or maybe the club thought he was shit and fired him once he started going off at Goodwin, but didn’t follow proper procedure. It’s not great but there are levels.

Sure and if it all happened during the club review it's less concerning.

I can absolutely see there being frustration when your performance (Goodwin’s) is impacted by the health of players (Doctor’s area) and the players aren’t recovering as you’d like. I can believe that frustration came out in aggressive or unfriendly interactions.

I can also believe a footy club environment, that works on year based contracts with players, being used to just saying “It’s not working, your time is up.” and not giving solid grounds for termination. The legal view may be that the doctor was actually an employee, despite whatever contract was in place, and therefore the dismissal without proper process was not legal. There have been multiple disputes about long service leave entitlements at footy clubs due to this contract vs. employment situation.

So I wouldn’t automatically link that there was a settlement being proof that there was inappropriate behaviour by Goodwin. Maybe there was, maybe there wasn’t.

I’d also say about Warner his “The Boys’ Club” was an engaging read, but in that book he has a habit of throwing out facts and inferring linkage or relationships without proving it. For example, person A and person B have a mutual interest in an investment, and person A made a footy related decision that was favourable to person B, fill in the gaps… (without actually saying there was an inappropriate decision made).

The Goodwin story feels similar to me. “Here’s a bunch of fishy stuff related to this guy, fill in the gaps…”.

I don’t doubt Goodwin has made multiple errors of judgement in his life, and you can question why someone with a patchy judgement record was appointed senior coach in the first place, but unless something specific comes to light the flashpoint seems to be about a disagreement between two people in a high intensity environment, and the bigger dog won. That’s life.

I am betting that journos at the HS are a little divorced from reality in establishing what life priorities are most important in their reporting. Perhaps over a drink or two they have taken a punt on allocating front page prominence to garner sales based on what could be perceived as bullying behaviour towards our meet and greet coach.

Without a doubt. Tabloid stories generate much more interest -> sales -> revenue than more important but less ‘sexy’ news.
