Yeah, a couple of moments where I thought there would be a bit more introspection and it's kind of hinted at with the 'constantly reviewing our culture' stuff, but all a bit waffly to me.

I suppose it'll all end up in the HUN tomorrow so they don't want to say anything too bold, and nice to get some belated response on this stuff for members.

I read it and initially thought "this sounds intelligent, coherent, and the club is listening". Then I reflected, briefly, and realised it was just a rug sweeping puff piece.

Not impressed, now strongly feel we need an external review.

I'm not sure what else they could say. People wanted to hear from the club, but this was always the response that was going to be sent out. Gotta protect the players, the club and the brand yet be firm at the same time. The conversations behind closed doors will be a little different hopefully.

Would have been nice to have a press conference instead of a statement. Clearly scared he might get asked some tough questions.

I still think an external review would be the best way to deal with this. Either the club is vindicated and what they're saying publicly is backed up by the reviewer or it lifts a lid on the issues that need to be fixed. Club has acknowleged that a level of trust has been broken between them and the members and showing they have nothing to hide would be a show of faith.

Doesn't look like the club is interested in that and is keen to put this to bed on their terms. So now it's just waiting for the results of the Worksafe investigation. That will reveal more than any press release or softball interview.
