Maria's comeback isn't going to well. :

FORMER world No. 1 Maria Sharapova will miss the grass court season, including this month’s Wimbledon qualifying tournament, after failing to recover from a left-thigh injury she suffered during last month’s Italian Open.

So much for that money-making exercise @ Wimby qualies they (the LTA) had arranged. It was all going to charity anyway so I shouldn't laugh as it was an opportunity missed.

a post by my girl, Anna Karolina Schmiedlova. She is coming back guys. If she wins a tour level match again, i am jumping back onboard the bandwagon

And she won too :thumbsu:

To my surprise AKS has only gone back to playing Futures starting this year considering her dramatic free-fall out of the WTA Tour.

We saw Martic with a fresh start use Futures as a launchpad after returning from injury last year to have a "great" FO campaign.

Rybáriková, a Slovak like AKS (career high #31 in 2013), has been returning from injury just like Martic. Playing Futures since Feb she's won an 80K (hard) and a 60K (carpet) in Japan and yesterday she won the 100K (grass) in Surbiton.

Felix Auger-Aliassime, who a couple years ago became the youngest to qualify for a Challenger Main Draw (Mar 2015) and then became the youngest to win a Challenger Main Draw match (July 2015) has now won his first Challenger title at age 16 yrs 10 mths. He goes from #336 to #232 in the world.

ESPN and SBS have picked up the rights to the US Open. ESPN going to show full two weeks worth of coverage using the commentators from the States coverage (Cahill, McEnroe etc.) while streaming 12 courts on WatchESPN and SBS will some some of the quarter-finals and onwards, win for everyone involved.

Great news, haven't seen the US on FTA for yonks.

While that post comes across as a straight out advertisement, the first serve is good to listen to and support as a tennis fan. We don't get much tennis talk on the radio so it's good there is a show for it. Although I don't totally agree on Brett Phillips opinion on Kyrgios.

Catch the only dedicated weekly tennis show on Australian Commercial Radio, 'The First Serve' each Sunday Night at 10pm on 1116AM SEN also heard via the SEN App and online and additionally at 11pm each Wednesday night in the build up to and through Wimbledon. Also podcast at https://www.sen.com.au/programs/the-first-serve/ and you can follow on Twitter @FirstServeSEN

Is that you BP?

I already listen to the first serve most weeks. Agree with pepsi, it's good to have a dedicated tennis show. Used to listen to the one on EON as well but the station is now defunct.

Well of all the tennis players to get caught doing coke can't say I'm shocked it was Evans.
Haha good call. Has always seemed like a laid back, party boy rather than deadly serious athlete. Do you think he will return after a ban or just finish up? Been in ok form but doubt he was going to be hanging around inside the top 50 ranking for long anyway

Hingis 2 years and Gasquet 3 months I think. Hingis penalty was ridiculous.

It was ridiculous because it was only a trace amount. It wouldn't have been enough to get her sacked in the American workforce but the ITF have a zero tolerance policy on cocaine and because she couldn't provide the likely source of contamination the way Gasquet did, 2 years later, she had to serve the full sentence of 2 years. She even voluntarily took a hair follicle test, which showed she had nothing in her system for the 90 days following Wimbledon, the same tournament where her urine test ended up testing positive for cocaine.

I think he will return. He has actually worked pretty hard at getting his act together so it I think he would want to not go out on the back of a drug ban.

She should have said she was kissing Gasquet's girlfriend too :drunk:

Was exactly my reaction when someone told me this news.
