I'll third this opinion. Is not the greatest speaker in the world. But nor is voice and his getting a senior coaching gig. West is hard, experinced very very clever inside. Is the sort of guy that would be great for a lot of the young mids we have.

You guys may laugh but if not wanted by the dogs why not as a player for one or two years?
If he came in the PSD, i think such a damm good player who has missed through injury not form which was still good when he was fit could do a Burns type role off the bench.
Would his output be as good as Burns who we all wanted to go on again, i beleive yes maybe even better.
Would not the worst pickup for a 1 to 2 year contribution i think.

Just one thing though.
It seems that any retiring player is going to come in as an assistant coach next season and any oppo player with a bit of talent will be assisting them.

Is there such as thing as a Coaching salary cap?

Feeding all these support staff could put an enormous strain on the economy of a small Pacific Island.

Why do people assume that on-field success automatically translates to off-field success?

Alistair Clarkson is coaching a side in the Grand Final this weekend and he had half the success as a player that West or Harvey did.

Playing 300-odd games does not mean you'll become a reasonable coach.
