Main causes of CHD in Aust.

Many of these overlap.

The problem is largely but not completely about lifestyle and choices.

I hope he has a speedy recovery for what is a major upheaval in his life.

I had a type A aortic dissection (same as Chris Cairns) last year and I'm still trying to recover. Just out of hospital again this week having surgery on a type b dissection.

Crazy isn’t it. My brother passed away at 38 just over 2 years ago. Suffered badly from asthma his whole life and put the chest tightness down to that. Couple of puffs of the inhaler and off to bed. Found dead on the floor the following morning. Turned out he had severe CHD and suffered a rupture due to a blockage. Was gone before he hit the floor.

A strong reminder that obesity and unhealthy lifestyles can cost you your life. Maybe it’s time the government did something about our obesity epidemic.

yes what a great concept. Let’s allow the government to do something with all of our lives, take away our freedom of choice, all in the name of the greater good. Let’s give the people in government more power, maybe then all the nasty horrible things will disappear. Such as obesity, alcoholism, drug use, teenage pregnancy and whatever else people get offended by easily these days. I’m sure that such things such as mental health, suicides and other health issues will disappear as we conform to government standards in living our lives. I for one cannot wait to be told how to live and how to think, rather than experiencing life and not knowing how to think.

yes I am being sarcastic. Fit and Healthy people die as well obese and unhealthy living people. To say that the government needs to do something about it is just stupid. It’s us individuals that have to be responsible and accountable for our own Personal life styles. This is the main problem with society today, the fear of being different, that we all have to embrace the conformity of the perception of perfection.

Seems very narrow minded of you to think that the only way the government could do anything about the obesity epidemic is to take away peoples freedoms.

Ever considered the fact they could put a lot more money into education campaigns?

It’s also an incredibly long way from “stupid” to suggest that they should do something about it, when the health issues and so-on that are directly or indirectly related to obesity cost millions, if not billions of dollars a year in taxpayer money.

I would take a guess and say it's all offset by the fast food industry.

My guess is the government make more from fast food than what it costs in hospital costs.

Yes it is very narrow minded of me. I don’t share your optimism in the government putting money into education, over this issue. Simply because of past and current state and federal governments responses over other such issues. Let’s take alcohol for example, rather than looking at educating the masses of the dangers of drinking too much alcohol and trying to change the culture, the government’s put a tax on the purchase of alcohol. On top of that tax, people are than paying another tax (GST) on top of that purchase. Cigarettes are the same, where the tax goes up every six months. The government’s makes more money from these taxes, which then enables them to look after their own self interests.

So the only thing the government would do, would be to introduce a “fat” tax where prices at restaurants and fast food places, even grocery items go up by an extra 10-20%. They will say that it’s in our best interest, when really the politicians only interest is making their wallets fatter with the extra income it will generate.

Sounds like Robbo was in a rather bad state.

Hope the penny has dropped for Robbo as far as lifestyle etc goes. Still recall the time I saw an ex workmate who'd had a triple bypass out having a ciggy...

So how do you know it isn’t genetics?

Amazing the number of clowns in here who think they can diagnose and evaluate somebody’s health thru a TV.

Maybe people could just wish him well and move on. Or if they don’t wish to, just move on.

When an obese man with a heavy drinking problem has a health problem that is caused by those issues, it’s reasonable to put 2 and 2 together and say the answer is 4. The bigger point is how many Australians are living this lazy unhealthy lifestyle that will also die prematurely… while the government does nothing to stop children getting addicted to sugar and fast food.

Drive past The Alfred hospital any day of the week and you see patients towing around an oxygen bottle sit down on the wall outside having a dart. It is choice. I seen my old man have surgery to have half his tongue cut away because of Throat and tongue cancer light up a month later. Eventually died of Lung cancer. Go figure.

So his body is telling him something is wrong and he dismisses it as COVID , then gets himself checked 2 days later after another warning sign.

Could have cost him his life

If this happened Two years ago before COVID , he would surely have acted at the first warning sign.

If only it was so easy. I was a very fit 50 yo. Ran most days of the week. Also worked out at gym. One day, I started to feel as if I had cracked a rib. I've had cracked ribs from back in my playing days and it was exactly that feeling. I put it down to having hurt them in a gym session where I hit myself working out.

No urgency but a few days down the track I decided to get them checked out.

Turned out I had a heart attack followed by heart failure. Rushed in for open heart (valve and aorta were fcked). Ended up flat lining several times 3 days post op. Obviously ended up making it but I've come across so many blokes who in hindsight could see the signs but dismissed it as nothing. I now urge people to get checked out at the first sign of something not quite right. The consequences are dire. And don't underestimate recovery. Took me 2 years to start feeling normal.

And my condolences Mudman85. Gone way too early. And yet blokes like that kidnapper and Pell's mates in the priesthood live on.

p.s. and don't tell the missus but I did sneak in a sneaky dart at half time of the 2020 GF. Geez it went down well with a large scotch in hand.

p.s.s. don't recommend the smoking part as my implanted defib went off 1 week later when the electrics played up. Bounced right out of my driveway onto the street. 6 shocks later back in ICU. Indestructible 👍

Really? Boy I'm shocked!

That will certainly be news to the billions of people who read it, know it well, and have given their lives to Jesus.

I didn't know you were such an expert on the bible.

Where did you study?

Don’t stress too much on that idiot poster. Him and another and another genius Swans supporter ( I’m reasonably convinced they are the same person , what are the odds of two king knobs spewing the same hatred on all things?) is notorious for being experts on everything . It really should be addressed by the mods . And they knuw SFA about footy . I mean Swans supporters?? ReAlly !
Too much hate in their lives..

A heavy drinking problem? Where on earth did you get that?

Aaaand I'm done. Back to Robbo, not the biggest fan of his on 360 (or Gerard's for that matter), but never good to see anyone going through any serious health complications. Hope he's on the mend and can get back to talking up the bombers ;)
