Ceglar and Stanley would honestly smash opponents together.
Ratugolea would make a handy 5th bench player, as can cover any tall position and would be handy in spurts as a big ruck rover.. I wonder if this is where Geelong see his role going forward.. having he and Blicavs as versatile talls and also Stanley who is mobile for a ruck in the same team adds a lot of options, injury or not.. including releasing DeKoning for stints up forward 😍

Does this negate the Blitz advantage a little bit? Or just free him up to be a full time mid-tility*

*giving this a run.
We have flogged him pretty hard to get the ultimate prise now we need to try and preserve the bloke and squeeze the maximum time out of him.

Talk is the the medi-sub is going to be scrapped for a fifth bench spot. Going to see a lot of teams playing two rucks if true.
Interesting. To be honest I think they should keep the medi-sub and just remove restrictions. Do you keep it up your sleeve for potential injuries, or use it at HT if a player isn't performing? Its an interesting tactical idea.

He is only young at 21 for a KPP.. I think he will be a star....
Totally agree but I am talking about next season.

Id take Neale over Sav as the 5th bench tall...

Can play ruck, can play forward and FFS we need to get him games to keep him.

Not yelling at you in any way - just need my #33 to be re-signed during 23 season early and for 4 years.

He is the future at FF for us post Tomma IMO. And keeping him in the Tomma spot while Jezza does his thing is vital.

The pick with Bris ... It was R2(38), Fr2, R3(45), R3(55) , Fr4. <> R2 to move up 13 spots

Considering now we are going to get Bowes for Fr3 (which I think is very gettable as a trade if we needed to get a Fr3)...

Are we sure we have gone at this the right way?

18 for henry

R2, R3 and Fr2 for Bruhn

Fr3 for Bowes ..

It's a fair question...but it seems both Pies and GWS were demanding first round picks for Henry and Bruhn respectively. So there was always going to be one unhappy party as we clearly don't want to trade our FR1..

I think we've prioritised Bruhn as we committed to him much earlier than Henry and he was a P12 only two years ago and we seem very keen on further buidling and transitioning our midfield.

GWS have shown recently they can be difficult (Cameron) and I'm not sure they'd be any better to deal with than the Pies if we didn't offer a round 1.

Personally, I reckon we committed our first round this year to Bruhn some weeks ago. Henry and his manager is a bit late to the party (according to Mackie this was a recent thing) as we missed Hopper, so IMO, we have prioritised Tanner here..

That is a good plan too.. It seems though like Geelong have told Ratugolea that there is a spot in the side for him.. and this seems like a likely option.

I really do like Neale, so if losing Ratugolea means we get game time and a contract extension out of Neale it is a bloody good silver lining

Getting Grundy makes the Jackson deal very worthwhile for the Dees.

I think a fifth on the bench makes sense as the game gets more demanding every year. Other codes seem to have a whole brigade on the bench.

If the Bowes trade is for a future R3 as suggested, am I right in saying next year we would have our future R1 and then essentially nothing?

I can see a few retirements next year, will have to get creative to fill some of those list spots.

Just need to go back to our old mate at GC to see what they can gift us.

If the trade is Grundy for 27, as suggested elsewhere, it would be around the same value as Freo R2 next year.

In which case Melbourne have traded Jackson for Grundy and 2 first rounders. Not a bad outcome.

Mackie delaying the Bowes trade until Pies accept 25, that way Pies cant ask for 7 or for us to split it.

That's honestly my read on this now too. Dangerous game though, as Pies could just go nuclear and then go 'yep fine we won't deal, at the last moment' and then we haven't put the Bowes trade through. Not that it would happen, but seems to be a bit of a mess how this is all turning out now.

More importantly, gonna be 2 more f*cking days of this crap, lol

Don't think it's dangerous at all. Paperwork is there ready to go, just hit send with 5 minutes to the deadline.

Who cares about retirements next year.. Go all in for b2b!!!

I suppose...I'm honestly just over this trade period now, lol. If they don't accept 25, I think we'll all have to admit, that Mack shouldn't have done that trade

Yes... and If we get Henry for #25 it'll be the same this year.

This year...likely #7 + junk
Next year...Likely our 1st + junk

But... we will have added Bowes, Henry & Bruhn.

It's a very good outcome for us the 2 of the 3 above players + that #7 can be solid long-termers for us.

We also could have some Free Agents lined up that we don't know about in the next year or so.

Yup. The draft is just one of the many ways to get players onto your list.

This current iteration of our footy club has proven is it not the be-all-end-all.
