Agreed. How would you rank them, 1,2,3?
Reid, Butters, Rowell. Obviously banking on potential with Reid still at this stage.

Am I the only one that doesn’t rate Rowell that highly?
I can see both sides.I'm with you on that. Ball use is incredibly suspect and I'm not sure his defensive game is that strong. Also has no versatility. Recruiting him would make me nervous.
We have one of if not the most dangerous forward group in the comp. That midfield trio would give them a lot of chances to win games.I don’t know with Smith not kicking many goals can we afford Rowell who
Also has the same issue ?
Atkins is closer to 30 and given his frenetic, physical style probably doesn't lend itself to longevity.Im starting to wonder if we actually need to invest in a star midfielder and what the expense will be to the rest of the side. From what I can see bar maybe the Carlton match our midfield gets the job done and often dominates star midfield sides. We definetely need a ruck and another key forward would be handy.
But our two Irish boys MOC and Mullin are units. Atkins is at his best. Smith and Holmes are beasts. Then you wonder about players like Mannagh, Dempsey, Clohesy running through there in the future. Maybe we just need to let our midfield grow up and not overdo it.
Would still love Reid though lol
I completely agree. I think he's the best bang-for-buck, he's an excellent complement to Holmes and Smith, and he looks like a great personality fit. Getting Rowell would also leave us cap space to move in the future.I’m probably the odd one out but Rowell would be my guy. He’s ready to go. Compliments our existing group. He would make our midfield complete.
I think what is helping us with the mids we have is our coaches. The suns game is a great example we picked a team and tactics to combat the suns. Having defensive mids shut down the suns playmakers worked really well in the conditions.Im starting to wonder if we actually need to invest in a star midfielder and what the expense will be to the rest of the side. He eats grass.I love all three. However, in the immediate term with consideration of factors such as ability, trade cost and team need, Rowell might be my pick. He would bring leadership and the stable persona desired by GFC in its leaders which cannot be understated and can be nurtured as we plan a transition beyond Danger and Stewart. He has developed under the adversity associated with playing with GCSFC. Under the GFC development program (with an abundance of available mentors), I think (obviously as a biased supporter) Rowell has a raised ceiling in terms of strengths and versatility in his game beyond what we see right now which will complement our existing structure and system. I think he could be trained to be a more threatening resting midfielder in the forward line as well. Love this hypothetical discussion on all three potential options, though.
Reid reminds me of early Dusty, who I thought was already great. He is meant to have freakish talent and match-winning capacity, but it seems he is unattainable for us. Could see him really blossoming at Geelong, as could the other 2. We could not entice Boak, a Falcon/Geelong product- can't see us getting Butters. Rowell would be a great get.I completely agree. Reid seems like high reward, but high risk. He reminds me a lot of Dane Swan - a burst power athlete with extraordinary natural gifts, whose preparation and professionalism can be pretty dicey. It worked out for Swanny, but it was very much touch and go for a while, and if it weren't for Malthouse, he may have been lost to footy before his career even took off.
Easily 2 x 1st round picks, plus something elseWhat would Rowell cost price wise?
Which we don't have for a while?Easily 2 x 1st round picks, plus something else
