Think this has been said a lot but i think that he is really hindering the team. Just watching the 2nd quarter, there were 2 instances that i saw where Gilmore quite simply stuffed up.

twice on the wing, it was his poor skills/delivery that caused a turnover.

Also, when Josh Carr was on the forward flank. Gilmore was waving and screaming for the ball but yet Carr waved him off. Was that a bit of mistrust in Gilmore from his own team?

Is there anyone that likes Gilmore as a player because i dont want this to turn into a bashing topic

He was terrible in his first game of the year, okay last week, and pretty good today IMO.

Gilmore>>>>Walker.

Gilmore has actually become quite an important player because he runs hard and carries the footy, with Browne, Schammer and Peake out we need his pace.

Walker will get dropped for Johnson. Hard to see Cooky getting back in next week if the second half goes as well as the first.

Black, Walker, Matt Carr, Solomon our only quiet players in the first half.

Never been a big fan of Gilmore, but I thought he was ok today.

I've had enough of Walker, but he might not be gone yet - Fester probably going to miss next week at least.

REALLY looking forward to having Johnson back in the side.

Walker's second half was quite good.

If Parker is okay Campbell might be the unlucky one dropped for Johnson.

Both Gilmore and Walker were fine today. Walker had another goal kicked on him in the forward line! Mind you it was Jamar this week.

Johnson will come in for Parker if the groin is injured, or for Campbell, not for Walker.

I'm sorry i have to strongly disagree with you guys. Gilmore runs bloody hard. Something our game is built on.

The fact that 90% of our midfielders can't kick over a jam jar means we need long kickers in the team. Otherwise teams simply put 1 or 2 players a kick behind play and we look very average.

The positives he brings to the team are far outweighed by the odd turnover. Crowley, Walker, Dodd, Parker and Bell were all guilty of atrocious turnovers yet we don't stick the boot into them.

Very simple minded supporters would be sticking the boot into a 193cm running machine who can kick 60m+. He brings a new dynamic to our team. He definately has his faults but i would persist with him.

Thank you. I reckon Gilmore gets some unfair comments around here.

Gilmore was fairly good today. I don't agree with Dennis "Gilmore is really important to this side" Cometti, but on the back of that performance deserves to play next week.

i really am getting sick and tired of commetti

He was OK today. Most of his worth to the team is based around his kicking, and if he can kick 60m to position 10 times a match he's worth his spot in the side. In past weeks he's kicked like a primary school kid, that's why he's been crap.

Me too, although his "if Hasleby was any more inside he'd be a pancreas" comment did raise a laugh from me.
yeah fair point

its just that he seems to be rambling more and more these days like we are there to hear him and what he has to say rather than just doing his job

Gilmore has been guilty of giving me the irits big time in the past. (;) ) However today I thought he was good - he has improved with every game this year and deserves to keep his spot. There aren't too many others who are 6'3", fast and kick that far.

Campbell was good - has definitely moved ahead of Murph this year. With Johnno back next week (at last!), however, I can see Kiwi being the one who gets the chop. Last in, first out maybe?

Then there's Cookie, who appears that they may be using as a Subi specialist, and JLo if he's okay. There might be a few head-aches on selection night for the first time since round 1. :thumbsu:

I rarely laugh at Cometti - he's tired, too rehearsed and decidely anti-us. But I did crack up when he was singing Hasleby's praises and he said, "if he was any more inside he'd be a pancreas". :D

edit - just read Scal's post - sorry for the double. 'Twas funny but. ;)

Hohoho , just go back to the melbourne team picking thread to see some of the people here praising him and saying we should drop him.. quite a good contrast.

He's getting better with each game, now that we aren't yoyoing him in and out of the team every week he's getting used to the pace of decision making. Still had 1 or 2 blunders but his goal and long kick to Pav easily made up for it.

Thought campbell was ok too, but our forward line would be fine with just Pav and Tarrant against most teams...so, no real need for him just yet over Gilmore or a midfielder.

Pav and Tarrant, plus a resting ruckman may be enough talls, but if we aren't playing Longmuir we need another tall if we want t stretch defenses. I want to see Murphy force his way into the team.

the thing i like about the kiwi is he is different to both taz and pav who are great athletes who run all day. he is a crash and bash KPP who may not take many marks but he will provide a contest, and judging by picketts reaction he makes his presence known
